The Gift Wrap and the Jewel

“A healthy reminder for of us not to forget the “jewel” inside of us when we have to face life’s disappointments.”- Antonette Reese As this new year is rolling in, let’s All try to remember to keep our focus

and keep our actions and words kind to and about one another. The more we sur-round ourselves with positivity, the more it spreads and we all reap the benefits!

By Wanda B. Goines

“I looked in the mirror and what did I see? But a little old lady peering back at me, With bags and sags and wrinkles and wispy white hair.

And I asked my reflection, how did you get there? You once were straight and vigorous and now you’re stooped and weak, When I tried so hard to keep you from becoming an antique. My reflection’s eyes twinkled and she solemnly replied, You’re looking at the gift wrap and not the jewel inside.

A living gem and precious of unimagined worth, Unique and true, the real you, the only you on earth. The years that spoil your gift wrap, with other things more cruel, Should purify and strengthen and polish up that jewel.

So focus your attention on the inside, not the out, On being kinder, wiser, more content and more devout. Then when your gift wrap’s stripped away, your jewel will be set free, To radiate God’s glory throughout eternity!”

Currently, many JOYs members have been making plastic mats for the home-less. As a group 18 mats have been made since starting this project in Septem-ber. Friendly Reminders

First and foremost–

Please remember to be kind to one

another. Anyone new coming in and

even those who have been here for-

ever. No two people are the same,

we all have our differences and we

need to learn to appreciate those dif-

ferences. We need to strive to help

everyone feel welcome.

Next-

You MUST clean up after your-

selves! Please be careful at the salad

bar, your tables and when you visit

the restroom. We understand that

accidents happen, and are happy to

help when they do, please let us

know when a spill or accident oc-

curs.

Also-

It takes a lot of hands to pull off eve-

rything we do here. If you are able

and willing to assist with clean up af-

ter the program, we are always ap-

preciative of the extra assistance.
