FSA ID Replaces FAFSA PIN Announcement

The United States Department of Education replaced the Financial Aid PIN (personal identification number) with an FSA ID effective Sunday, May 10. The FSA ID will consist of a username and password and will replace the PIN for students, parents, and loan borrowers.

If you are a new user, you will be asked to complete a registration form for your FSA ID. If you are a user with an existing PIN, upon logging on you will be sent directly to the FSA ID site and asked for your PIN number. If your information matches the information they have on file, your account will be linked directly to an FSA ID account. Please note, in order to have your current information link to your FSA ID, you must log on and go through the registration process.

The following is the screen that you will view to Start a new FAFSA or Login: (https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/fafsa?locale=en_US)

To access step-by-step instructions for creating a FSA-ID use the link below located on the IFAP (Information for Financial Aid Professionals) website.
