hilarity, with visitors from Boort, East Loddon and Leitchville Seniors. It was great to see about 48 persons present to enjoy the music of Johnny Doyle from Cohuna. The raffle prizes were all donated by committee members and were well received by the winners. The visitors in Alan Streader, (Boort), Norma Winchcombe, (East Loddon,) Jean Comello, (Leitchville) expressed their thanks on behalf of their members. “Road to Nhill” Movie

What are your memories?

A memory has been received from Glenda Iskov:

“Glenda remembers it was a warm evening following a hot summer’s day when her father went out to water his vegies, as was his regular practice. He hadn't been out there for very long when a face popped over the adjoining fence asking him to please stop, as they were filming and the water from the gravity fed hose was making too much noise! Her father complied and they had a good laugh about it.

Glenda's father lived in Ottrey Street, next door to Lyndon Miles. The actor Alwyn Kurts, used the Miles home as his home in the film.

Glenda also remembers going to watch the film with her niece at the Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne. Forgetting where they were, Glenda screamed out excitedly 'there's mum and dads house' in the middle of the movie and the almost full house laughed at her.”

The Hall committee would love to know your memories. Perhaps you were an extra in the film in the Church scene. Maybe your home was used in the filming. You may have even gone to the cinema when the movie was launched. It would also help those of us who were living away at the time, or who have moved to Pyramid Hill post ’95 or for the whole generation that weren’t born, to get a feel for the movie that was made in our town. So feel free to email your thoughts to [email protected] or alternatively write down your thoughts and pop in the Mann residence letterbox at 39 Ottrey St.

Pyramid Bowling Club

Greetings from the Green,

Hopefully by the time the Press goes to print, the new carpet will be in the clubhouse. I can't wait to check it out. Hopefully all members are aware that there will be an indoor/outdoor working bee Friday 28th July with a 3:30pm start. The downside of sprucing things up and getting renos done is the amount of dust that covers everything. Members are asked to bring buckets and cleaning cloths.

The tournament is a little over a week away. Already, quite a few teams have entered but many more are needed. The tournament will be held on Sunday, 6th August with a 12 noon start. This tournament is so generously sponsored by Pyramid Hill Butchery and meat trays will be the prizes for the winners on the day. Thank you Pyramid Hill Butchery. Please put your A/C triples team in, by either writing up on the sheet at the clubhouse or by giving Lionel or Allan F a bell. They will happily take your call.

The catering side of the tournament has become a tad complicated with a person from a neighbouring club stipulating they will come if there are sponges for afternoon tea. Sponges weren't on the menu this time. Anyway, Kate will finalise the menu and accommodate all taste buds. Thank you to those who have already contacted Kate with what and how they can contribute.

In other news, the new uniforms have arrived. Please see Marie N for your new uniform.

Thank you to those members who have already caught up with Treasurer Lionel with their subs for the upcoming season. A reminder that the cost is $100 per member.

The Board meeting will be held on this coming Wednesday, 2nd August at 7.30pm.

Do take care.

All local clubs are encouraged to get their teams together for the coming season.

Could club AGMs be scheduled in for mid August.

The LVTA league AGM will be late August with the likely possibility of 3 clubs from Tandarra comp joining our league. A vote will be needed at our association AGM. Please begin giving this some consideration.

Mincha West are in need of lady players for the upcoming season, if you are keen to give Tennis a go contact David Mann or Peter Gargan.

The lights at the Pyramid courts are not far away from being completed thanks to the tireless work of Vaughan Herrick. We hope to get a fast 4 midweek comp up and going at night time early in the season.

Golf Report RAY BRUCE finds form

Sunday’s medal round was taken out by popular new member, Ray Bruce. Ray has been showing improvement each week and after carrying Fred Schmidt to a win at Boort’s tournament on Friday, and working tirelessly at the working bee on Sunday morning, he still managed to break 100 for the first time on his way to recording a 99-34-65 winning the medal round and defeating Steve Amos in their Handicap matchplay. A busy couple of days Ray, but much deserved results. The Ladies Medal round was won by Jeanette Naylor with a score of 86-18-68. Other matchplay games played were Brett Dye def Adam Twigg 2/1 Paul Walters def Steve Gibson 3/1 and Steve Marshall def John Kennedy 3/2. Ray, Brett, Paul and Steve are now through to the Semi-final which is to be played by August 20th. 10 Members represented the Club at Boort’s tournament on the Friday with Ray and Fred in the winner’s circle. Let’s hope we receive the same support back from Boort at our own tournament. This week we are playing for the Carmody shield and the event will be a 3-

person Ambrose draw for partner. The event has been running for 30 plus years and is in recognition of the enormous contribution the Carmody family have made to the club over three generations. A BBQ tea will follow the golf and golfer’s partners family and friends are most welcome to come and enjoy a great social evening.

Only two weekends to go until our Annual tournament starts. Members are asked to contribute around the course as we are a volunteer run club and many hands make light work. All members will be given various roles over the tourna-ment to ensure the success of our major fundraiser.

Pyramid vs Inglewood

A GRADE

In cold conditions Pyramid came out firing with the defenders creating several turnovers to allow the girls to take a strong lead into quarter time. The second quarter saw the mid-

courters move the ball swiftly down the court helping the girls to take a 40 goal lead into half time. In the second half the goalies continued to work hard and shoot accurately and the team combined well putting together a great 4 quarter perfor-mance winning by an impressive 82 goals. Pyramid Hill 101 d. Inglewood 19

Best – Zoe Kennedy

B GRADE

The girls took to the court in the sunny conditions and with all cylinders firing. Both the shooters for Pyramid were not missing many to give the girls a 9 goal lead at quarter time. By the half time break the girls had slowed a little but still held a 12 goal difference. Pyramid Hill settled well into the second half finishing off the game with a 28 goal win. Well done girls! Pyramid Hill 55 d. Inglewood 27

Best – Tania Kerrison

C GRADE

The pyramid girls knew they were in for a tough game and brought their all with a 3 goal lead at the end of the first quarter. Inglewood stepped up their game and the pressure as we progressed, and Pyramid were just one goal up heading into the last quarter. Unfortunately they were unable to hold onto the lead and Inglewood slipped away, taking the game by 5 goals. Inglewood 39 d. Pyramid Hill 34

Best – Tess Hampson

15 & UNDER

On a cold morning, the girls started off slowly and then began to build confidence. Passes became stronger and the girls were playing well. It was a tough game but the girls put in a great effort and won well. Pyramid Hill 57 d. Inglewood 31

Best – Jorja Moon

MINIS

The little pups were off to a great start against the Inglewood Woodies with Isabelle Caspani and Zoe Stewart in goals. Our passes were strong and always went to where we aimed. The Woodies were strong with great defence and intercepts but our pups smashed out the day. Well done girls. Best – Isabelle Caspani

C RESERVE

In cold and windy conditions we took to the court with a strong start and Tamika shooting some great goals. The defence worked hard together with the mid court. All positions were filled with subs – so thanks Ladies! Towards the end of the game, the cold started to get to us, but with some position changes in the final quarter we has some great passages of play. Inglewood 65 d. Pyramid Hill 20

Best – Zoe Webb

17 & UNDER

Taking to the court with only 5 original 17s players we knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game, but with the help of some aspiring 15s player we took to the court eager to see what the game held for us. Starting off well with some good movement we began to see the accurate and consistent shooting of our goal shooter unfold. Throughout the game there were some great intercepts and the surrounding encouragement from the girls on the court was strong and lifting. It was good to see everyone working well together, and playing as a team, the

Football Club

On a day where the clouds just wouldn't allow the sun to shine through at Inglewood, we walked away with a mixed bag of results. The biggest cloud hung over our Reserves who had a tough day coming up against the 4th placed Inglewood and try as they may, just couldn't get over the line. Our U/18's are cementing their way into the finals notching up another good win and our Senior team are continuing with their quest to make the finals coming home with a convincing win, something that must continue in order for all 3 teams to lock themselves a spot in the finals.

Under 18s Fresh after a two week break the boys were keen to get back out on the park. We came up against the third placed Inglewood and we knew we would have a test on our hands. The first term was a very even contest and the boys were showing plenty of fight, winning the contested footy and applying great pressure when we didn’t have it. Our quarter time lead of 15 was turned into 36 by the main break and we had broken the game open. James Ryan was sensational up forward kicking 6 goals, Mitchy Gunther chimmed in with 3 and our defence held up brilliantly in what was a fantastic team effort. We finished with a 55 point victory and now move on to the undefeated Maiden Gully YCW Eagles. Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 12.9.81 defeated Inglewood 4.2.26

Goals: Jimmy Ryan 6, Mitch Gunther 3, Xav Ryan 2, Bailey Pickersgill 1. Brad Peters Award: Hugh Miller. Brett Hercus Transport Award:

Millers Ag Award: Mitch Gunther. Pyramid Bakery Cafe Award: Kieren Shelley. Special Award: Ben Dalton. Others: Zac Dingwall, Glen James, Adam Dwyer, Xav Ryan. Reserves It was a tough day for the Reserves as Inglewood outplayed us in all areas with the end result being a 28 point loss. After half time we were under-manned with no one on the bench so the boys were unable to have a rest, that's no excuse but does make it very hard to keep any sort of pace up for the remainder of the game. The result has locked in that we will play Inglewood again in the first week of finals. Better players for the day were Dylan "2s for life" Tonkin who played a true captain's game, Matt "chickens can fly" Scott was great up forward all day, Troy "super mega deluxe package" Woolhouse played so well we might have a AFL scout come for our next game. #upthe2s. Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 4.12.36 lost to Inglewood 9.10.64

Goals: Matt Scott 2, Chris Driscoll 1, Kiel Kerrison 1. Egan Taylor Award: Dylan Tonkin. Pony Award: Mitch Dingwall. National Hotel Award: Matt Scott. Victoria Hotel Award: Matt Moon. Others: Levi Southern, Dave Mann, Troy Wool-house, Kiel Kerrison, Alex Demeo.

Seniors We had a point to prove after a dismal outing against Mitiamo and the boys came out firing. Against the breeze in the opening term we piled on 7 goals to 2 and the boys were full of confidence. The second term however was a tough slog as we butchered the footy going forward and a few undisciplined acts let Inglewood back into the game. A couple of steadying goals just before half time kept the margin at 35 points as we ventured into the rooms. After the break we came out with much better intent and showed what our best footy can look like, whilst we were inaccurate in front of goal we came away with a 105 point victory and kept our finals hopes alive. Billy Micevski was back to his best, in and under and snagging 5 goals. Fitzy was launching them from the centre square as he added 6 majors and it didn’t matter whether Dan Rendell was directly in front or over the fence, he found a way to slot 4 in a commanding victory. Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 26.19.175 defeated Inglewood 11.4.70

Goals: Nathan Fitzpatrick 6, Billy Micevski 5, Dan Rendell 4, Sam Kennedy 3, Joe McGrath 3, Steven Gunther 2, Scott Mann 1, Adrian McErvale 1. Egan Taylor Award: Billy Micevski. Victoria Hotel Award: Steven Gunther. National Hotel Award: Nathan Fitzpatrick. Others: Adrian McErvale, Jaryd Wishart, Gav James.

With only 2 more home and away games to be played, now is not the time to let our guard down. Let’s knuckle down, work hard, play as a team and see where it will lead us.

Until next week.......go doggies.
