Function PrinciplesReflex Sensors with background suppression: The sensor evaluates light reflected from the object within the selected range. It functions in accordance with the principle of angular measurement hence the object’s colour, shape and surface characteristics have no influence on detection range.Applications: Checking and recognition of presence of object, packaging, edge recognition. Features: Laser light (red), red light, infrared Light

Reflex sensors: The sensor evaluates light reflected from the object within the selected range. Bright objects reflect more light than dark objects; thus can be recognized from greater distances.Applications: Checking for presence of object, object recognition, counting etc.Features: Infrared Light

Universal Reflex Sensors with/out Fiber Optics: Colour of object has no influence on working range in barrier mode operation. Sensors can be used with/with–out glass fibre optic cable. Applications: Recognition of Objects inside packages, Temp Zones up to 300 °C, Features: Infrared light, blue light, red light

Reflex Sensors for measuring tasks: The sensor measures distance between the sensors and object using angular measurement principle. Analogue output of 0–10 V proportional to measured distance.Applications: High precision positioning, thickness, height and distance measurements, static, dynamic, vibration, contour measurement.Features: laser light (red), red light, infrared light.Transit time sensors for measuring tasks: They measure distance between sensor and the object using principle of transit time measurement. It may or may not require a reflector.Applications: Recognition of objects at great distances, position detection, fill level, fuzzy logic, Go/No–go testing.Features: Display for easy configuration.

Luminescence Sensors: They work on principle of diffuse light sensor. It emits UV light at 380 nm wavelength and detects markings which are invisible to the human eye during daylight hours. Applications: Presence of labels, verification of product authenticity Features: UV Light

Print Mark Sensors: They use a white light LED with a very small spot for recognition of all colour combinations and detects differences between printed markings and the background.Applications: High–speed print mark recognition, recognition of all types of printingFeatures: Various Teach–in modes, white light.

Reflex and Retro–Reflex sensors for Roller Conveyor Systems: Specially designed to be mounted between rollers of a roller conveyor system. They work on the principle of angular measurement, hence the object’s colour, shape and surface characteristics have no influence on sensor’s ability to recognise conveyed materials. Application: Recognition and complete control of objects on roller conveyors.Features: Infrared light, pneumatic solenoid valve.

Retro–Reflex sensor for clear glass recognition: They use integrated polarised filter for reliable recognition of clear glass and transparent objects.Applications: Recognition and counting of crystal clear, PET, glass objectsFeatures: Red/Infra red light. Self adjusting for contamination, temperature or ageing change.

Colour Sensors: The white light sources and receiver optics are in a single housing (reflex mode) or two separate housings (through beam mode). They recognise previously defined colours.Applications: Sorting coloured objects, beverage cases, wires, ripeness of fruits etc.Features: White light, error and analogue output, RS 232 Interface.

Barcode Scanners CCD Array: The Integrated pulsating red light source strikes the barcode symbols; then is reflected back to CCD chip at varying intensities. The photovoltaic cells are illuminated to varying degrees thus generating the image of barcode which is then evaluated by a decoder.Applications: Reading of barcodes on glossy materials, slight contrasting surfaces etc.Features: CCD Technology, special algorithms to read small, damaged, badly printed symbols

Vision System: Camera, optics, illumination and analysis modules are all integrated into the compact housing with option of connecting external lamps. Autofocus function ensures sharp images.Applications: Recognition of objects for diagnosis and quality assurance purposesFeatures: Reference image comparison, pixel check, shape analysis etc.

The electromagnetic field generated by the LC oscillatiing circuit is influenced when approached by metal (steel) or nonferrous metals such as aluminium or brass. If the approaching metal object reaches the selected switching distance, the output is switched.

Inductive All Metal Switch: Inductive all–metal switches are available in a wide variety of mechanical designs and housing materials. They are immune to welding fields and magnetic fields and are finished with a Teflon coating. Due to the differential transformer; the switching distance is same for different types of metals.

Advantages Functions

The powerful ultrasonic sensors by wenglor provide reliable detection of objects – independent from material, color, transparency, and surface characteristics. Artificial light or particles in the air (dust, smoke, steam, lint, oily air) do not influence the correct sensor function.

• Synchronous mode: In order to enable object recognition over a wide area, several ultrasonic sensors can be operated in immediate vicinity to each other and send out ultrasonic pulses simultaneously.• Multiplex mode: To avoid interference of several sensors mounted in immediate vicinity to each other, the sensors send their ultrasonic pulses alternately.• Detection mode: This feature is particularly helpful in the case of interfering objects influencing the measurement result. The ultrasonic sensor determines three objects: The object closest to the sensor, the object furthest away and the best detectable object. Depending on the appli cation, a selection can be made from these three signals.• Adjusting the threshold value: The higher the chosen threshold, the less sensitive the sensor is to interfering sound waves. This function can be combined with detec tion mode.
