SensoruIntroduction
SightHeart Beat sensonrs
Hear t beat sensors will be located on
the arm rest in a way that promotes
placing your hands on them. The sensors
would capture the audience’s collec-
tive hear t rate and would be projected
through the use of light on the ceiling
of the specific show. By using these sen-
sors the lighting could be adapted to
the audiences hear t rate, to better set
the visual mood of the theater. Both the
ambient lighting and the lighting for the
show could be adapted to this technol-
ogy helping to tie the audiences emotion
directly to the show.
Touch-feelMassaging mechanism
Also, by incorporating a massaging mech-
anism like luxury autos are equipped with,
you could jolt the back of an audience
members sea during a key moments in
the show. For example when the Icarus
falls and hits the ground you could jolt
the back of the seats of the audience
members giving them the sensation of
the impact. Another example would
be at the beginning of the show when
the lizard is roaming. The chair could
be manipulated so that the massaging
motors give the sensation of something
being brushed up against the audience
members, making them feel like there
are more creatures around than the ones
they can see on stage.
Touch-feelHeating and cooling
Much like the technology used by many
automotive companies the show would
use heating and cooling elements in the
seats to better convey the atmosphere
of the show, such as in Varekai when the
focus is on Icarus flying too close to the
sun. The seat could be warming and then
cool of as he fell to the jungle floor.
SoundBy incorporating surround sound into the
seating you could control the way the
audience perceives sounds down to the
individual seat in a show, such as Varekia
that takes place in a jungle you could
make members of the audience feel like
there were insects or creatures flying
around them.
SmellBy incorporating smells into the show the
audience can be given a sense that they
have been transpor ted into the place the
show takes place in. For example in a show
like Varekia you can use pressurized scents
through a ducting system that vents around
the theater and releases small amounts at key
moments during the show to give the impres-
sion that people have been transpor ted into a
jungle by using scents like flowers or humidity.
In a show like the Love you could use scents
that will make people feel like they have been
brought back in time and placed at a concer t-
taking place in the sixties.
