All right. What’s up everyone? It is Greg here. I’m coming to you from my garage today. I kind of got booted out of my house throwing this Coronavirus craziness. The kids took over, wife and kids took over. So I’m moved out to the garage. So if you’re wondering why, maybe there’s some shovels behind me and whatever else. Tennis rackets, axes everything else that’s up there. Or if you hear some nature outside, that’s what. So what do I want to do today is cover keyword research. Now I know a lot of people maybe just got a whole lot less excited, right? Because let’s face it, keyword research really isn’t that much fun, right? It’s not fun. And this is where a lot of people kind of half ass it. And they’re like,

“Keyword research eh” and they kind of grabbed some keywords and they build their site.

I want to see the actual house, the cool part foundations boring, it’s not cool.” And you build, you just put sand in there and all of that and you build this whole nice house, you start getting to the top, you notice it’s starting to wiggle, right? The house is wiggling, It’s not sturdy. Eventually it’s probably going to fall over. That’s because you got your foundation wrong. All right, so that’s lesson number one is, I know keyword research is not the most glamorous thing. I know it’s not fun. Maybe it can be a little painful. I’m going to make it less painful for you today. But it is one of the most important steps because I get messages all the time where people are a year in and their site’s doing pretty well.

But the problem is they’re foundation shaking and they’re not sure where to take the site. And the problem is they’re like, “Okay, well what do I do from here?” I’m like, “Well the house is kind of already built. Maybe there’s some tricks we can try, but it’s not guaranteed.” So in a lot of cases you got to take down the whole house, you got to rebuild the foundation and you got to build it back up. So please don’t make that mistake. And that’s lesson number one. Just because it’s

not glamorous, doesn’t mean it’s not valuable and really sometimes the least glamorous things are the most valuable things in life. And that’s kind of the case here. So please take that to heart and take keyword research very seriously because it is the whole layer of what you’re building that’s going to bring you money in for years and years to come with this virtual asset.

All right, so what I want to do is show you two different ways to do keyword research. Now I use these two ways kind of with each other. You can use one or the other. You can use both. Both are very good. One is more expensive. Okay. It requires a more expensive tool Ahrefs.com and that’s A-H-R-E-F-S.com and I believe the lowest plan is 99 a month. I think the plan on the one is a one 79 a month and then you can go above, but you can go look at their pricing. The second tool is going to take a little longer, but in a way you can actually find some more in depth keywords with it. So that’s why I kind of used them together and it’s a lot cheaper. All right. For this particular tool, which is actually a plugin, you’re going to pay $10 and that is it.

The problem is keyword research is your foundation,

right? So if you think of it building a house, if you, in

the beginning you’re like, “And this part’s not fun and it’s just

the foundation.

Now you get 100,000 credits for this tool for $10 so for me, I think I buy $10 worth every six months, but I use this a ton, right? So for most of you, $10 are going to pretty much last year forever. All right? For the most part. So those are the two tools we are going to be reusing. The first is A-H-R-E-F-S.com. The second is called Keywords Everywhere. It’s a plugin, you just start here, you download it, you install it on Firefox or firm, and then you can go to pricing and you can see, you can get $10 in credits or I’m sorry, $100,000, 100,000 worth of credits for $10 which lasts quite a long time. All right. What do I want to do is, since Kelly is involved with... working with Kelly here and Kelly’s involved with the gold niche, I wanted to do some keyword research for the gold niche.

I kind of was doing it wrong back then. And also I’m more, had people build the sites and I would do the SEO forum. So I don’t know a ton about the keywords. I know the major keywords invest in gold, buy gold online, maybe gold IRA, go direct companies. Things that. But I’d really never have done deep keyword research for this niche. So this’ll be cool because you’ll get to see me go in depth in this niche and you’ll see the way I do keyword research and you can use this for any niche you want.

I think it’s cool for us to use gold because I think a lot of people would be going into that or investing and then you can also use it for other niches. All right. So what I usually to do is I to just start with an obvious term. So what I mean by that is there’s obvious terms in gold that you can think of, right? Invest in gold, how to invest in gold, gold IRA, gold IRA’s a big one. I’m sure most people know that. So I might do something like best gold IRA. Okay. I said best gold IRA.

All right. So now what I’d to do is I to find sites that are specifically about gold. Okay? Golden investing. Now I could do retirement living, but that’s going to have other types of stuff probably not gold related stuff. So I first want to start with sites that are specifically about gold. All right, so let’s see if we can find one for this term. Got consumer affairs, no Investopedia, no, caring.com no, forbes, no. Okay. Gold IRA.org all right, gold IRA.org has two listings here, smart Bitcoin investments and that’s more Bitcoin, consumercommentary mine what not. All right, so the one we found right here is gold IRA guide.com so what I’m going to do is I’m going to copy gold guide.org sorry.org not.com and I’m going to throw that in Ahrefs.com. We’ll start with the more expensive tool first.

All right, so we can see all of our stats here. You don’t got to worry about too much of this. This is just how many referring domains they have, how many links they have, how many organic keywords are ranking that the organic traffic. And then of course the traffic value. And this is all estimated. Now this is where the kind of golden goose comes to where you can just click on organic keywords. All right? So here’s a site. It’s about gold. If I knew nothing about this niche, I know a little bit about it, but let’s pretend I knew virtually nothing. This is going to be a gold mine for me because I mean I know nothing about this

niche. I don’t know which keywords to go after. Boom, here’s a successful site about gold. You can just start collecting all of their keywords that are going after.

Okay? And what I usually to do is type in multiple terms, right? So I’ll go type in invest in gold and I’ll start going deeper. As you type in these terms you’ll see recommendations over here, different types of keywords you can type in. And then you can find different

gold sites and put those gold sites in. Ahrefs, see what keywords they rank for and keep building a whole big list. All right. So this is a very quick and easy way to start building a keyword list. Now I want to dig a little deeper here though. So the first thing I noticed is it seems they’re going after company names, which must work. So they must be doing company reviews it looks they got right here, companies slash Colorado gold review.

It’s probably something that can end up converting. So noble gold, big gold reviews, and likely what I would do is bring up a spreadsheet and that would just... Or even organize it however you want. I’m not the best organization. Usually I use notepad and just... I’m very unorganized in that aspect. I’m sure you guys can come up with a system where you can organize this in a way that it looks very good. Okay? So I might just do companies, right? And then under here would be all my companies. Okay. So I’ll start listing. I’m not going to do this for you, but... So Colorado gold right? So I type that in Colorado. And I murdered that spelling, but we’re going to leave it Colorado gold. Right?

Now I’d also probably do the search volume next to it because I want to know how much it can make searches they get. So let’s go back here and it looks the volume is about 3,600 for that keyword, right? So will

do volume, search volume and we’re not going to write all these. I’m just kind of showing you, this is very unorganized, again, this is not something I’m good at as far as being very organized, so what I’m going to do is just put all the companies here that I find the search volume next to it. That way I kind of just have this data here, right? So I have the data, have all this stuff I can go after and build content around and build my pages around and then I can take it from there. All right, so let’s go back here.

So again we’ve got noblegold, you got bitgold. What’s this? Equity institutional, I guess that’s a company name or as a custodian maybe. I don’t know what that is. So I’m going to skip that for now. They also have specific coin names. All right, it seems like they got the names of specific gold coins. So like the trump coin 2020 all right. Types of gold bars. So we’re really getting quick, information on keywords that are in this niche. So I already have... Okay, I want to go after maybe gold IRA companies. So you’re going to want to go after that term, right? Something that or best gold IRA companies or things along those lines. Then you’ll want to go after specific company names. All right. And this is all stuff you would want to write in your spreadsheet and I’ll show you how to kind of dig deeper as well.

Now it looks we got specific coin names. All right? So then I could start digging deeper into specific coin names and I want to look for pages are about gold coins and then kind of reverse engineer that. All right? We’ve got specific gold bar names, so then we can go after the whole gold bar side of it, and also gold bar names. All right, so here’s another company name, company name, a type of gold coin again. Noble gold investments. I don’t know if that’s a company, I guess that’s a company name. Again, a type of coin.

Silver this time. So now they got silver in there too. Maybe we want to go after silver as well. Gold IRA companies. Again, I already said that above, so I kind of got that would be an important term just from looking at this.

And then we’re also going to have pages on specific gold bars, right? I think we saw one up here, like the credit suisse gold bar. I don’t know if I said that right, that’s probably going to be a page as well. But let’s go see... So if we want to do we, we decide, okay, we know we’re going to do a page on gold bars. How do we do keyword research for gold bars? Well, what we do is we copy the URL that they’re ranking for that, and we throw it in here again, and this gives the information for their page that they’re ranking for gold bars. All right, so let’s get organic keywords.

Here’s our keyword list. Okay. Best gold bars to buy for investment. Best gold bars to buy, best gold bars. Best gold boards to buy Pamp suisse verse credit suisse gold bars. Valcambi gold reviews. I don’t know why these company names are so hard to say. Maybe they’re French or something. Which gold bar is best to buy? Which is the biggest gold bar in the world. Which gold bar to buy? Gold bar investments, types of gold bars. Here’s part of our keyword list for gold boards. All right. Now here’s a big tip. Usually what I to do is when I’m doing this is I don’t usually take keywords that or on page two or below. So this type of stuff I’m not

including in my keyword research most of the time because usually what happens is you need a specific page for these keywords, right?

For example, Pamp suisse gold bar, I’m going to create a page specifically on that because that’s likely going to be a review about Pamp suisse, right? I’m not going to really try to rank them on my gold bars page. I’m going to have the Pamp suisse page. That specifically targets that keyword, but anything specifically about gold bars is going to be included on this page. So pretty much all of these keywords here except maybe these couple here about Pamp suisse or however you say it is going to be on my gold bar page, right? And if I want to dig deeper, what I’m going to do is go type in best golden bars and I’m going to see, okay, so they’re number one for that. All right, but then I’m going to see is there any other gold sites that I can have?

Any gold pages are fine too. All right, so gold bars. Let’s go look at these guys, see if we can grab any more keywords. And this is how you do keyword research. Now we’ve been gone for... I probably been in this for about 10 minutes now and we’ve only covered... We’ve got a base idea of what we’re going to cover and we’ve got some basic keywords

for gold bars. I have a lot of work to do still. Okay, I’m not going to do it on this webinar. I just want to give you guys an idea of what this looks and how deep you can go. And I’m experienced with this I’ve done this many times, so I know what I’m doing. It’s probably going to take you guys a lot longer. Right? So just a quick reminder, it’s your foundation.

Don’t just jump in, grab some keywords and start your site. You really need to structure this thing. Okay? You really need to do your research, find all the right keywords, group them correctly, and then build your site. Don’t start building until your foundation is set. All right, so again, what I’m going to do... Now remember what I would’ve done is taken these keywords and kind of throw them into my spreadsheet. However, you want to. You

don’t have to use the spreadsheet, but however you want to organize it. Actually, I probably wouldn’t just use notepad. I’m not good at organization that, but I know how to keep it to note so I know what I’m talking about. But again, I would just put gold bars and then start listing my keywords, the value, and then deciding where I want to group what.

All right, so they got gold bars, gold bars for sale, one gram of gold, I don’t know if I’ll go after that on this page. One ounce gold bar. Okay, where to buy gold bars, buy gold bars online. Cheap gold bars. Okay. Gold bullion bars, man. We’re getting so much data here and we’ve only looked at two URLs. What I can do now is I can keep going through list of course and start building that in my list and I can go to the next URL on gold bars and start analyzing them. And by the way, this is a gold site so I can re-put them in at the domain level and start looking at their large list of keywords and then specifically dig into pages that rank to dig into that specific sub niche of the niche.

All right, so I don’t think I have to go too much further into that. You guys know kind of the direction I’m going here where you just... This is a really quick and easy way to do keyword research, okay? You just look at the competition and then you dig deeper on specific pages and then you take that term, you type it into Google, we find other URLs that

rank for that and then dig into them for that sub niche, right? And then to get a basic idea of what’s in the niche, you look at the domain level to see what type of keywords they’re ranking for. So let’s go to these guys look at them at the domain level. And we’ll stop there for this tool. So let’s go to gold silver.com let’s see if we can get any more big keyword ideas.

So remember we didn’t even look at their whole list they, it looks they got more a company names. A whole bunch of company names Gold IRA reviews. So I’m familiar with that term. Silver coins, queen broker, Gold IRA comparison. And we’re only on page one. They got hundreds of pages here that we could look through. Okay. Let’s just say we ran out, we will go find another site about gold. We throw them in. We see what they’re ranking for. What other types of stuff can we go after? Right? Prices. Let’s see how much is a gold bar worth? Gold bar for sale kind of already saw that. Gold predictions. That

could be something to go after, right? Gold price forecast predictions and then again if you’re like, “Okay, I really like the predictions angle. I could maybe talk people into thinking the gold is going to really do very well over these next few years.”

So guess what? We take that URL, we’re not going to just go after gold predictions, right? We want a whole keyword list for that page. We want to make the most out of that page. So we’ve got gold predictions, gold price predictions for the next five years. Gold price predictions, gold price for the next 10 years. Gold price projections, longterm gold price forecast, gold forecast. And the way you structure these pages guys is you’re going to have your main topic as the URL. You’re probably going to do something similar to gold

price forecast predictions as your URL and then anything like gold... like forecast oil price for next 10 years is probably going to be a headline on the page because anytime you have a headline on your page it tells Google that’s an important topic and you’re going to rank well for it because it’s closely related to what the URL is about and likely your title.

Just so you know, of course I go deep into this in our training if this is confusing you but is just supposed to be about keyword research and kind of preparing you for what you’re laying out for your foundation. All right? But that’s how you do keyword research with Ahrefs. Very quickly, very easily. And when I say quickly, I mean you know, you’re cutting off days of time by doing kind of manual research. All right? So the second way I want to show you is through keywords everywhere.

Now this is going to take a little longer time and the gold niche may be a little weird for this because there’s other types of gold like there’s gold plated stuff and gold jewelry that may not be exactly what we’re looking for. So Google may get gold stuff mixed up as far as what we’re searching for, but it’s still going to work pretty well. All right, so again, download this, come here. You know, get your credits, get town $10 worth of credits, activate it in your browser and the first thing you want to do is go to your settings. And I to highlight the keyword value, which won’t be checked from

the start. And then also make sure you have this checked show metrics in auto complete suggestion drop down. That’s not checked when you first download this either.

You want to make sure that’s checked because that’s going to give you some important data. All right, so let’s now go to Google and now we’re going to start using this tool to do our research. Right, now there’s something in Google called auto suggest and auto suggest shows you what people are searching, right? So what I to do is do stuff best gold. If I knew nothing about this niche, I’m going to type in best gold and see how it’s listing the numbers here. That’s because I checked that box. So now we know best gold stocks gets about 3,600 searches a month. These are just estimates, okay? They’re usually far off. I have terms that show they get a thousand searches a month, but I get 10,000 visitors a month from them so they can be way off. Just just be aware of that. Kind of a little big tip to give you there. But what happens is this shows you the most common type stuff after best gold.

Then also you have a specific topic name about that which is going to help you rank very well for that. So that’s how you’re going to be structuring these

pages.

So you’ve got best gold stocks. Okay? That’s already something we didn’t find with the other method, right? We got best gold ETF, best golden retriever, this is what I mean. So they’re including stuff that’s not related to our niche, like golden retriever breeders. We don’t care about that. We care about gold investing, right? But Google doesn’t know we’re searching, so get best gold funds that could be a good one. Best gold coins to buy.

Okay. Gold spray paint. We don’t want that. Best gold stocks to buy, best gold bars to buy. So we got some good information here, right? We kind of got even a couple of our keywords that we were looking at before, best gold coins, and best gold bars, right? So what we can now do is type in our... well I want to go with bars.

I didn’t see that in the other research, and that’s why I kind of like to combine these two methods is because sometimes this kind of more manual way of doing keyword research where you’re using auto suggest, it can give you a lot more keyword ideas and in depth keyword ideas. Okay, let’s go to best gold bars. And of course the other way I use this is just by looking at the auto suggest. Okay? Now I’m like, “Okay, well people who typed this in, they also type in company names like JM Bullion or they’re also typing in specific gold bar names like Pamp gold bars or Credit suisse gold bars.” And I’m probably going to get made fun of for the way I’m pronouncing some of these words.

Hopefully I’m not murdering them too bad. So then we got Perth mint gold bar, so we’re getting the same type of data, right? It’s just going to take us a little longer because we’re kind of more manually doing

it. Whereas when you do it this way, it’s like you see everything right in front of you, right away. This way, you’re going to have to dig a little deeper, but you can still find everything you’re looking for. Okay? So we’re going to get more keyword ideas. Let’s see. Best gold bars to buy for investment. We saw that in the other one. Best gold bars to buy in year. We kind of saw that in the other one. One kilo gold bars. All right, so specific weight of gold bars, that’s something we want to put in our data. How much does a gold bar cost? Where to buy gold bars locally?

All right, so you’re getting ideas for sub niches of the bigger niche gold or kind of precious metals investing. And then you can just dig deeper. We just went into gold bars. If I want to go into gold coins now, I click on here and what

we’re going to do is get a whole bunch of gold coin names over here, okay? Or you know, specific data for gold coins, American Eagle gold coin, US mint gold coin. All right? So we already have types of gold coins. We’re looking at here. One ounce gold coin. Where to buy one ounce gold coins? Best place to buy gold coins, cheapest place to buy gold coins.

This is really important information, okay? And the problem is people... what they do is when they look at this, they’re like, “Okay, invest in gold coins.” They do a page on that. And that’s it. And they don’t look at all this other data. When you’re doing your page on investing in gold coins, you need to make sure you include all these well search keywords in there. Okay? And another big tip I’m going to give you is when I do this... So if I type in invest in gold coins, I always pay attention to right here. Okay, this is huge because right here is a section called people also ask. And this is basically telling you a lot of times when people type in invest in gold coins they’ll also go and type in this or they’ll also go and type in this. So guess what I do when I do this page here, I make sure to include these questions on that page.

So on the page on invest in gold coins, I make sure I have in large text an H tag, usually an h2 tag are gold coins a good investment. That would be a big text on my page as an

All right? So, that’s kind of how I use the Google auto suggest to find different keywords. And again, the golden is a little harder because a lot of times I’ll do invest in gold coins and I’ll start typing different letters. All right, so I’ll type in A, so invest in gold coins pros and cons, invest in gold coins is a good idea. It just gives me more ideas and then maybe be B, and this is something a lot of people don’t do. People do use auto suggest but they don’t specifically type in different letters this. Let’s see buy gold coins Bank of America, buy gold coins Bullion. Okay? That’s actually could be a big sub niche to this.

Best investment in gold coins. So that’s something to look at. Buy Buffalo gold coins, buy gold Britannia coins. So we are already getting a whole bunch more keyword data here. Okay? How about C? All right, so buy gold coins Canada and nothing there really. How about D? Where can I buy gold coins in Dubai? So whole bunch of kind of city stuff and I wouldn’t touch that as of right now. Buy golden Eagle coins. Okay. That’s about F. Here we go. Here’s some good ones from post office from SBI. I will probably won’t use any of them. G, H, okay. How about, let’s go to a different, let’s do gold investment. Now we’ve got companies, we got stock, we got jewelry, we got funds. So those are some good, bigger keywords and kind of how we can type them in and kind of look here and sub niche them. But also again, I’ll take something gold investment.

And do A. So we had gold investment Apps, maybe gold investment account. That’s something I wouldn’t have thought of. Gold investment affiliate program. Maybe we can refer our affiliates and make a commission

off what they make. That could be a keyword to go after. Okay? Let’s see. Let’s go after. So something like AB. Sometimes it depends on how big the niche is, sometimes I’ll do all of the vowels I’ll do with consonants and then all the consonants I do with all the vowels. So I’d do like AB, AC accounts again and it goes further and accounts AD, right now to go all the way to Z. Then I would skip the vows obviously. Now start with B, okay B, Ooh, here we go. Gold investment box. Gold investment books, that’s something I wouldn’t have thought of. Gold investment bars, gold investment bullion, gold investment bond.

And then you can go look at all those sub niches in there. You go look at all the sub keywords of each of these niches. So you can really dig deep here. Now this way, it’s

Those are usually the terms that you rank a lot quicker for. You can start generating traffic for a lot quicker for and start making money a lot quicker and start building up your trust. Gold investment coins verse bars, right? And of course we’d go to CA and then you’d go through all the letters, right? Then we’d go to D, gold investment demand. Gold investment deals, gold investment dealers, that can be a good one there. It says there are searches next to it, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go after it. Hint, hint. All right, so this is really a good way to do keyword research is just by typing in and using autosuggest, but don’t just type in gold investment.

Start typing into different letters, right? Because it’s going to show you what people are searching. If it shows up in auto suggest it means people have searched it enough when they include it in order to suggest, all right? And then we’re only using gold investment. I could also do gold investing, right? Or something like that where I could do how to invest in gold and then go from there.

There we go and silver and Vanguard and the oil and copper. There’s unlimited possibilities of how you can dig in with this method, right? Yes. It takes longer and yes, it’s a little more painful, but in the end, as long as you have your foundation built correctly, who cares? Right? This is the foundation. This is the most important part. And this is where you really want to take the time to make sure you’re building this out correctly. All right? Don’t make the mistake that 99% of people do and slap it here in half ass it and spend 20 minutes just kind of getting the big keywords like, “Okay, I’m going to after how to invest in gold, investing in gold, gold IRA companies, best gold IRA, gold coins, and I’m going to kill it. I’m going to make a lot of money.” That’s not how it works. All right?

You got to plan this out, build the structure, get everything in place. It’s going to work a lot better for you down the road, right? And we find keywords, so for example if you want this keyword, hit it and then see what the... If you are using this method of course, and

then see what’s over here and include these keywords that are very similar on the same page, right? And group the similar keywords together. And of course, if you’re using this way, we’re using both together. You start looking at pages that rank for that and you look through organic keywords are ranked for and that’s a quicker way to kind of get it. But sometimes I like to do both of them. I’ll use this one initially and then I’ll use this way to kind of get the stuff that I didn’t see.

Because a lot of times these bigger sites, they won’t go after these smaller terms that show smaller searches because they think they’re not worth it. But they’re sadly mistaken with that.
