¡Bienvenidos a la
clase de Español 1-2!
This year you will
begin developing
your Spanish skills.
You will learn Spanish
through TPRS —Total
Proficiency though
Reading and Story-
telling. We will be
using TPRS in con-
junction with the text-
book and a variety of
other supplementary
materials. The lan-
guage learned by this
method remains in
the student’s long-
term memory. The
student must be in
class to learn the
language through
l i s t e n i n g ,
dramatization, read-
ing and speaking.
Students’ participa-
tion is expected to be
constant and con-
sistent to ensure their
success.
There is no way to
“make up” such
class work. If the
student’s goal is to
learn to speak
Spanish, attendance
is critical for
success.
It is critical to
review vocabulary,
grammar, listening,
and speaking exer-
cises on a daily basis.
Students will need to
practice the lan-
guage outside of
class. This can be
done in many ways
Homework Guidelines Learning a foreign language in the classroom is a difficult task due to the limited amount of time available to the student to practice. Therefore, it is essential that the student review the vocabulary on a daily ba-sis in order to retain lan-guage skills. Homework is
practice, not a test. Even if you aren’t sure you’re doing it right….DO IT! You earn credit for assignments done to the best of your ability and on time. Questions about the homework will be answered the next day in class.
1. Schedule your home-
work time into your daily activities.
2. Do your own work. Copy-ing does not equal learning.
3. All work must be neat and legible.
4. All assignments are due

There is a direct rela-tionship between aca-demic success and regular, punctual school attendance. Attendance and punc-tuality are the sole responsibility of the student and his/her family.
ON TIME means: The student is in his/her assigned seat, w ith appropri-ate materials out, and is ready to work BEFORE the tardy bell rings.
The school reserves the right to determine
whether or not a stu-dent is tardy.
Any student not in his/her seat prepared to work when the tar-dy bell rings will be sent to the attendance office for the appropri-ate discipline action. Students may return to class only with a pass from the office.
10 points – each assignment completed before entering class OR assignments com-pleted after being absent
5 points – assignments fin-ished late in class
0 points – assignments not done or that are copied
at the beginning of class and must be complete before com-ing to class.
