(Romans 8:38-39) Separation is difficult; for some it’s unbearable. What the Apostle Paul wants us to remember is that nothing in all of creation will be able to separate us from God. That’s particularly relevant in this time and place as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 virus. This has been going on since mid-March. I’m so completely over this whole situation. I’m tired of the separation. I’m tired of not being able to have “proper” in house worship. I know I’m not alone in that. With the case counts in Fayette County, and in La Grange in particular, we’ve made the extremely difficult decision to discontinue in house worship at this time. While attendance has been way down (less than 20 per service), those that are attending are by and large the most vulnerable. With the virus numbers continuing to climb, this concerns me. Jesus calls us to care for the most vulnerable. Everything Jesus did was centered on that. Council will reevaluate in two weeks. When we begin to see a decrease in cases in Fayette County, then we’ll reopen in-house worship. In the meantime, we will continue to do Facebook Live worship services at 9 a.m. on Sundays (July 5 & 12), which will also be live audio streamed. We will also be broadcasting on KVLG/KBUK at 10 a.m. on Sundays (1 week delayed). Believe me when I say, we did not come by this decision lightly. It was a painful decision, but one that must be made. Pastor Candy Almighty and merciful God, you are the only source of health and healing; you alone can bring calmness and peace. Grant to us, your children, an awareness of your presence and a strong confidence in you. In our pain, our weariness, and our anxiety, surround us with your care, protect us by your loving might, and permit us once more to enjoy health and strength and peace; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

God’s work. Our hands. Newsletter of Saint Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Grange TX

A Member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America July 2020

June 30, 2020 Members of the Body of Christ at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
