The enthusi-asm and creativity expressed by the students reflected their rejuvenated energies post summer vacation.The invigorating Summer break must have surely lifted the spirits of each one. The growth not only in height & weight but in knowledge and wisdom is the true sign of develop-

LET’S DEVELOP OUR OWN CONCEPT ROOM

Every child is blessed with a unique style to ap-

proach the world! BIS is on a constant mission in moulding and shaping them. Kindergarten students brought toys from home and started playing with their friends, the basic value of

sharing and taking care of their things was in-culcated into them. The activity four corner techniques on the top-ic ‚Animals‛ helped the tiny tots to categorize

and identify the animals. The four corners of the room was divided into water animals, land animals, wild animals and insects. This also helped them in improving their communica-

tive skills as they started discussing and sharing their views with their tutor and friends.

STAY COOL IN THE POOL

and playing merrily with each other, the best way for networking and to become water friendly. Dressed in colorful swimming suits, kids happily

plunged into the pool and had a wel-come relief from scorching summer heat. Playing in water also helped in improving their balance and

strength.

POURING ACTIVITY

Children are extremely inquisitive and want to practice every new thing that they observe

around.With a new learning twist, a simple fun filled activity was conducted on 25th September. The concept of filling and emptying was introduced by placing an empty container in front of the students to fill it all by themselves. It also aided in the development of fine motor skills, hand eye co-ordination, sensory skills and concentration of our students.

TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

Tomorrow’s potential, independent and challenging decisions of a student are based on to-day’s teacher. Teachers' Day Celebration at Bahrain Indian School has been a significant event of the year. Tiny tots have taken efforts in making Thank You cards which were embraced and loved by

the teachers. The students not only surprised the teachers with an amazing dance perfor-mance but also impressed them by dressing up and mimicking as a teacher. It made the teacher’s feel proud, as their hard work and dedication is moulding the students on a progres-sive note and receiving the student’s affection at the same time. This encouraged the teachers

to continue putting their efforts in making BIS a better place each day.

TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

"Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th is ob-

served as Teachers' Day." This is how the second President of India Dr S. Radhakrishnan responded to some of his students and friends. What a noble way to honour the teachers. From Gurukuls to the mod-ern-day classroom teaching, teachers have moulded societies and mentored the minds, gen-

eration after generation. To mark the occasion, the students of Grade V, VI and VII pre-sented a special assembly on 5th September. They articulated their love and respect for teachers with a melodious song and speeches. Quiz and rapid fire round conducted for teachers were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The students made the day even more memorable

by presenting handmade cards and flowers to teachers. Teachers’ Day was concluded with an oath taking ceremony conducted by the Principal and the educators to uphold the val-ues of teaching at BIS.

POEM RECITATION COMPETITION

Ballad, sonnet, couplet or mere rhymes are said to be the mirror of emotions and socie-

ties. Famous Hindi poets of India like Suryakant Tripathy, Mahadevi Verma, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar & many others have enriched the language and contributed exceptionally to the Hindi Literature. To let the students love Hindi as the National language of India and let the sweetness of it win over the hearts, Hindi Poem Recitation was organized on

21st September for the students of Grades I & II.

HINDI ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

Childhood is a phase of observing, absorbing and

expressing. It is the best time to encourage the students to adorn their thoughts and knowledge with alluring vocabulary and coherent sentences. On 6th of September, BIS conducted an Essay

writing Competition for the students of grades III to VII. The little minds were given freedom to pen down their imagination, understanding and opinion in form of essays on the topics like

'Rashtriya Ekta Aur Akandatha' , Mera Priya Kel and many more. It also helped in improving their time management skill. All students participated with great enthusiasm.

Science Quiz

The saying, ‘Necessity is the mother of all inventions’ justifies the existence of scientist ever

since humans set their feet on the earth. At one point of time discovery of wheels must have been the pinnacle of technology; and as the intellect of humans evolved, complex inventions were made to make the life safe and comfortable. It is important that the young minds should have a quest for scientific knowledge. BIS gives opportunities to the students by encouraging

them to experiment and observe. In this pursuit a Science Quiz was held on 28th September ’16 for the students of Junior school level of Grades III –IV and the Middle school level of Grades V-VII. The rounds included visuals, rapid fire and the most interesting riddle round. All the houses showcased an extraordinary performance. The house wise positions are:

HOUSE WISE WINNER - SCIENCE QUIZ

Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas is celebrated annually to pay tribute to the mother language of India. It commemo-

rates the day when the constituent assembly of India accepted Hindi as the official language of the country. Students celebrated this day by presenting varied verses along with a speech and skit on the importance of Hindi. The presentation of different poems by the students enthralled and stunned the audience.

DEVELOP MOTIVATION & CONFIDENCE AMONG STUDENTS

A workshop on ‚Develop Motivation and Confidence among Students‛ was conducted by

School Counselor Dr Preet Kamal Bhatnagar on 29th of September. It was an interactive workshop attended by the educators, Principal Dr Heena Rachh and Director Ms RituVerma. Teachers play a pivotal role in building motivation in students which is one of the driving force behind their growth and success. The workshop concluded with a brainstorming session

on the various issues faced by the teachers within their class.

RECYCLING DAY

It is very important to educate

the students at a young age the necessity of recycling. Hence, every Thursday BIS is contin-uing its journey in the recycle

drive, a scheme put forward by The Northern Governorate. Students are also aware of the different bins for recycling and

the further uses of the prod-ucts.

BAHRAIN INDAIN SCHOOL CELEBRATES HEALTHY HEART DAY

To spread the awareness of keeping our heart healthy a class assembly was conducted by the

students of Grade II Ganges on the theme 'Happy Heart' under the guidance of their educa-tor Ms Renjini Sujai. The assembly portrayed the measures to keep the heart healthy in or-der to lead a healthy life. An informative speech on the fact`s on heart followed by a poem ' My Heart' influenced the children on the importance of choosing the right lifestyle to stay

healthy. A pilot study was also conducted among Grades I and II to ensure the students are bringing healthy food for their breaks. Assembly concluded with a brainstorming session be-tween the Principal and the students on how to keep our heart and body healthy. Advice and suggestions from the principal Dr Heena Rachh encouraged the students to bring

healthy food and to stay away from adding junk food to their diet. According to the Internal survey all the grades added up to 90% of the students bringing in healthy foods, and the as-sembly concluded with a positive note of making it a 100% health conscious students.

ATTITUDE ENGINEERING

Positive attitude brings strength, energy, motivation and initiative. To help teachers in re -

engineering their mind and attitude, a workshop was organized by the Principal Dr Heena Rachh. The workshop refreshed the mind of the teachers and gave them positive ideas in im-proving their attitude and behaviour in teaching aspects.

CPD ON BHAGWAT GITA BY DR

“Let the players play, let the haters hate, and let

the karma handle their fate.‛ Educator Dr. Chaman Lal Semalti conducted a Professional development programme for the BIS teachers on Bhagavat Gita and its importance in today’s

world. It was a thought provoking and mind churning workshop.

ASIANET THINK AND LEARN

BIS proudly announces the students who are qualified for the National round of GCC Asianet Think and Learn challenge 2016-17. This is to identify the aptitude Wizard of GCC. The stu-

dents below are amongst the top 10 percentile from over 1, 40,000 aspirants across 250 schools who participated in the biggest talent hunt. Students qualified for the next round are

Pavithra, Kshetra, Rishit, Ritisha, keer-thana, Amruta and Sree Hamsini from Grade VI and John from Grade VII. We wish all the stu-dents to do their best.

MICROSOFT CLASSROOM

A workshop on One Drive and Microsoft class-room was conducted on 24th September. Mr Dutta the IT Head trained the educators on functioning of one drive and the importance of

Microsoft classroom. This unique teaching methodology will be introduced shortly into BIS. Directors Mr Himanshu Verma, Ms Ritu Verma, Mr Sooraj Ramachandran and Princi-

pal Dr. Heena Rachh attended the workshop. This session concluded with the implementa-tion of language labs into the school.

WORKSHOP ON SPEECH THERAPY

BIS is fortunate to have the Speech Therapist of the ENT department from the American

Mission Hospital to conduct a workshop for our educators on identifying the issues or signs

related to speaking, language and listening disorder in children.The workshop was conduct-

ed on 29th September by Ms Renu Joy and Ms Reeni Mathew which explained on the

warning signslike the lack of Receptive and Expressive Skills and the need for professional

screening or assessment in students.
