He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore,

for the former things have passed away. (Revelation 21:4 ESV)

The Kingdom of God Has Come and Jesus is King

Luke 1.30-33 ESVAnd the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

#1 Jesus is King today because He is before all things and in Him all things hold together

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15–17 ESV)

#2 Jesus is King today because He has authority over all dominions and rulers and authorities

...that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, (Ephesians 1:20–22 ESV)

Page 5: September 13, 2020 · A Two-Piano Christmas Praise “Christmas Medley” arr. Stephen Nielson and Ovid Young Iryna Simoneaux and Oscar Dressler Christmas Carol of Worship: No. 89

#3 Jesus is King today because He works all things according to the counsel of His will

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:11–12 ESV)

#4 Jesus is King today because He strengthens us through His Spirit by His power so that we may endure with joy

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, (Ephesians 3:14–16 ESV)

#5 Jesus is King today because He is the Good Shepherd.

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:14–15 ESV)

Zechariah 9:9–10 ESVRejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, hum-ble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Kingdom Cause for December

International MissionsThe Kingdom of God is for those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, but how can people believe who have not heard of Jesus? And how will they hear unless someone tells them? And how can someone tell them unless they are sent? International missions is the work of believers to intentionally move to another nation or people group for the express purpose of bearing testimony to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The primary way that Southern Baptists work together to take the gospel to the ends of the earth is through the International Mission Board. The IMB has over 3500 missionaries working with over 1200 people groups around the world. Our Kingdom Cause for December is to support the work of the IMB through three action steps.

The first action step is prayer. The back wall of the Sanctuary will be turned into a prayer experience during the month of December. Printed prayer guides will lead you through the prayer walk. You can pray the wall before or after Sunday morning services. In addition, the sanctuary will be open for prayer during regular office hours during the week (Monday - Thursday, 8:30 to 5:00 (closed for lunch from 12-1).

The second action step is to give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Lottie Moon was a missionary to China, and the annual Christmas offering is named after her. Every dollar given to the LMCO goes directly to support the work of missionaries in the field.

The third action step is to participate and bless the missionaries associated with our church through the Mission Tree. We have asked several missionaries who have come out of our church to tells us ways that we can directly support their work. You can learn more about the Mission Tree in the church lobby.
