GROUND BREAKINGMemorial Hermann to Open New Medical Campus Memorial Hermann Health System, known for its world-class clinical expertise and patient-centered care, is pleased to announce plans to establish a new medical campus in Pearland. The multi-purpose complex will be built on the 40-acre site currently home to an outpatient imaging center, diagnostic lab services, and medical office building.The new facility will include a “one-of-a-kind” convenient care center, scheduled to open later this year, that will provide one-stop, highly coordinated access to adult and pediatric primary care, specialty physicians, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and a 24-hour emergency room. The centerpiece of the new medical campus will be a 64-bed acute care hospital, which will open in 2015. Craig and his wife Lauren, who just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary, established their business 11 years ago in one of the fastest growing communities in the country. They have seen their business grow as the city has grown. Most recently his team attained the Farmers Championship award as one of the top agencies in the Country. When marketing their business, they proudly highlight that “we not only work here, we live here!” The Slater Agency has a simple mission statement: “Ensuring you get maximum value for your insurance dollar.” Craig and his family chose Pearland because it was affordable, centrally located and had a great school district. At that time Craig was working at Hobby Airport and Lauren was working in the Texas Medical Center. Craig served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as a crew chief. After his discharge he worked his way up from aircraft mechanic to general manager at Million Air, one of the largest aviation service companies in the world, providing fixed base operation services to upscale private charter customers. Craig maintains his private pilot’s license and his aircraft mechanics license. The Slaters have 3 children -- two sons and one daughter. Both sons are Eagle Scouts and graduates of the University of Texas at Austin. Both live and work in the Research Park area of Northwest Austin. Their daughter is entering her second year of college as a member of the Centenary gymnastics team. In addition to his busy schedule with his business and as a Chamber Ambassador, Craig is the current Charter Organization Representative for Scout Troop 464. He is a past president of the Pearland Rotary Club. The Slaters are members of Pearland First United Methodist Church. When his schedule permits, Craig likes to fish and play golf. Craig is a strong believer in the value of customer service, saying, “We bring security and value to those who do business with our agency. We take pride in the quality of our products and the quality of the service we offer. Our agency employees strive to give all policyholders the type of service they desire and have every right to expect.”

University of Houston-Clear Lake is pleased to bring Clear Lake Association of Senior Programs (CLASP) to the Pearland Chamber of Commerce for the 2013-14 season.

CLASP is an outreach initiative that provides education and intellectual challenge to our community. We offer daytime speaker series in partnership with the Pearland Chamber of Commerce and Freeman Branch Library in Clear Lake. The evening distinguished speaker series “Visions in Our Midst” is held at UH-Clear Lake. Community friends of all ages are invited to enjoy the challenge of learning about new and varied subjects.
