In commemoration of Vicky SyCip Herrera's service to our community, we have established the Vicky Sycip Herrera Philippine Scholarship Foundation in her honor. Many of you will know of this program, which seeks to fund local students of exceptional ability but whose parents lack the financial capacity to fund an education at IS Manila. These students all pass through an elaborate selection process.
Since 1967, our Filipino Scholarship Program has changed the lives of over 150 students – and often the lives of their families as well. The list of accomplishments and achievements of these Scholars is remarkable.
Although the Scholars have gained immeasurably from an ISM education, it is worth noting that they have also given back to the School.
Listen to Vicky’s own assessment of the value that they have added:
“I was aware of the Filipino Scholarship Program when it started way back in 1961; this was when
the first batch of Scholars started in what was then called Junior High (Grade 7). They graduated in
1967, and the second batch of scholars was in my class of 1968. Since then, I’ve had the honor of
getting to know just about every Filipino Scholar in 44 graduating classes – and oh, how they’ve
raised the bar at ISM – not just in the classroom but in extra-curricular activities as well! The
Scholars have played a huge role in making our School the success it is today.”
What better way could there be of recognizing Vicky’s unique contribution to IS Manila than to help expand our Scholarship program in her name! We ask each of you to make a contribution to this cause such that we can establish an endowment fund large enough to provide for the continuing tuition and support of an additional, truly deserving Filipino Scholar. Not only will your generosity open up a life-changing pathway to an international school education and beyond, it will also help keep Vicky’s legacy alive for future generations of students.
Your support of the 95 for 95 campaign will go a long way in ensuring that Vicky's legacy lives on and that a wonderful program such as the Vicky SyCip Herrera Scholarship continues to produce talent that is reflective of the school's enduring commitment to excellence.
Proceeds from all our events benefit the Vicky SyCip Herrera Philippine Scholarship Foundation.

Class of 2003 reuniting in NYC!
It’s a girl’s night out in DC for these 2005 ladies.
Over 120 ISM alumni and guests descended on the picturesque shores of San Diego for three days of whirlwind fun, reminiscing, and rekindling our green-and-gold school spirit. Alumni from the class of 1968 all the way to 2005 were in attendance. On Friday night, a sumptuous Mabuhay Cocktail Mixer was held on the garden grounds of the hotel, followed by a live auction and raffling of Philippine pasalubongs, and capped off by dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Alumni kickstarted Saturday morning on Mission Beach where an authentic Pinoy feast, complete with lechon, lumpia, and Balut for the brave, was on offer. The evening capped off with a delicious American dinner and taking of class photos, plus a special ceremony for special alumni who were given special recognition for their efforts. The Class of 1982 won the special award for the Class with the Most Attendees with sixteen alumni from their ranks. Alumni throughout the weekend attested to the lasting friendships and the unique bonds of being an ISM Indian; wherever you are in the world, being an ISM alum becomes an instant connection! Alumni who came from overseas, including Mike
It was truly a weekend to remember! For those who missed out on all the fun, join fellow alums in Manila on March 4, 2015 as we celebrate the 95th anniversary of our alma mater. See you there or be square!

Tzu Chi Foundation is an international
humanitarian organization with a special
consultative status at the United Nations
Economic and Social Council. ISM has had a long
relationship with the organization. Starting out
as a Saturday Service partner through the
Chinese Cultural Club, it later became a
consistent HS International Community Actively
Responding to the Environment (ICARE) and MS
Classroom Without Walls (CWW) partner. (To
learn more about the ICARE and CWW programs
please visit the ISM Service Learning website
here.)
On Saturday, May 17th, over 50 ISM parents,
alumni and their children got to see firsthand Tzu
Chi's work in the Philippines. Mr. Neil Woods,
Service Learning Coordinator, shared activities
from Saturday: "We learnt about benefits of
recycled materials and how they turn a whole
range of waste materials into useful products.
Furthermore, we saw how the center provides
livelihood programs and skills training for locals
and grows organic food for the community. We
learnt how Tzu Chi provides free medical and
dental care to impoverished people as well as
food and medical relief at times of disaster. Later
the groups crushed cans, prepared plastic bottles
for recycling and made craft items from recycled
materials."
It was definitely a Saturday morning well spent
at Tzu Chi. To learn more about Tzu Chi
Foundation, visit their website here. This annual
community Saturday service event is open to the
all members of the ISM community, including
alumni.
