ሴፕቴምበር 7 ቀን 2014 ዓ.ም. በኢትዮጵያ ማህበር በቶሮንቶ አዘጋጅነት በክርስቲና ብሉር በሚገኘው መናፈሻ ከቶሮንቶና አካባቢው እንዲሁም ከሃሚልተን፣ ከኪችነር፣ ከጎልፍ፣ ከኦታዋ፣ ከመሳሰሉት አካባቢዎች በመምጣት የኢትዮጵያን አዲስ ዓመት 2007 ዓ.ም. እና 16ኛው የኢትዮጵያ ቀን ምክንያት በማድረግ በደመቀ ሁኔታ አክብሮ ውሏል። በዚህ እለት ጥሪ የተደረገላቸው እንግዶች እንዲሁም የተለያዩ የሃይማኖት መሪዎች ኢትዮጵያውያን ካናዳውያን ተገኝተዋል።

ዘንድሮ የአየር ጠባዩ መልካምና ለበአሉ ድምቀት እገዛ አድርጎ ውሏል። ኢትዮጵያውያንም በተለይ ወደ ማታ አካባቢ የክርስቲን ፓርክ አጥለቅልቆ ሲደስቱ አብርው ሲጨፍሩ ማየቱ ከአለፈው አመት ለየት ያለ የኢትዮጵያ ቀንና አዲስ አመት ተሳክቶ ውሏል። እውነትም እንዲያ ሲታይ ይህ ሁሉ ኢትዮጵያውያን የት ተደብቆ ነው ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ማህበር ብቅ ብሎ ማህበርተኛ ያልሆነው ማለት ያሰኛል።

ከሰአት በኋላም የመድረኩ አስተዋዋቂ ዶክተር ዮሃንስ ታደሰ ወደ መድረኩ በመዝለቅ ለዛ የተሞላበት አዝናኝና ተደናቂ ንግግር አድርገዋል። በመቀጠልም እንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ፣ ለ16ኛው የኢትዮጵያ ቀንና እንዲሁም ለአዲሱ አመት አደረሳችሁ በማለት ለተሰበሰቡት ኢትዮጵያውያን ምኞታቸውን ገልፀዋል።

በመቀጠልም በመድረኩ ላይ የነበሩትን የሃይማኖት አባቶችን አስተዋውቀዋል። እንደ አምናው የእስልምና ሃይማኖት ተወካዮች አልተገኙም ነበር። ሆኖም በመቀጠል የተገኙትን የተለያዩ የክርስትና ተከታይ የሃይማኖት አባቶች እያንዳንዳቸው ዶክተር ዮሃንስ ለተሰበሰበው ሕዝብ በየተራ በመጋበዝ ንግግር እንዲያደርጉ ጋብዘዋቸዋል። በመጀመሪያም ወደ መድረኩ ብቅ ብለው ቡራኬ የሰጡት ሊቀ ካህናት ምሳሌ እንግዳ ሲሆኑ በተለይ ዘንድሮ የኢትዮጵያ ማህበር በቶሮንቶ ለየት የሚያደርገው የራሳቸው ህንፃ መኖሩን በመጠቆም አድንቀው ተናግረዋል። በመቀጥልም የሃይማኖት አባቶች እንደሚያምኑበት ለሕዝቡ ቡራኬ አድርገዋል። የኢትዮጵያ ቀን እያደገ እየለመለም እንዲሄድ ምኞታቸውን ገልጸዋል፣ ለ2007 ዓ.ም. አዲሱ አመትና እንቁጣሽም እንኳን አደረሳችሁ መጪው ዓዲስ አመትም የሰላም፣ የደስታ የፍቅር እንዲሆን አምላክም ይህን እንዲፈጽም እንማጸናለን እንጸልያለን። ብለዋል።

በመለጠቅም በመከታተል በአገር ባህል ያሸበረቁ ሕፃናት፣ ሴቶችና አንድ አንድ ጎልማሶች ወደ መድረኩ ብቅ በማለት የአገር ባህል ውዝዋዜና ዘፈን አሳይተዋል። በተለይ እነኚህ እምቦቃቅላ በተለያዩ በኢትዮጵያ ባህል አለባበስ ያንጸባርቁ ተራ በተራ ወደ መድረኩ ሲወጡ ተመልካቹ ደስታውን በእልልታ፣ በጩኸትና በማድነቅ ነበር የተቀበላቸው። እጅግም በጣም በጣም ድንቅ ነበሩ። የእነሱን ምስል ለማስቀረት ተመልካቹ ቪዲይውንና ካሜራውን እያስተካከል ግፊያውና ትንቅንቁ ሌላ ነበር። እነኚህ ሕጻናት የተለያዩ ብሔረሰቦች ልብስ ለብሰው በፈገግታ በእስክስታ ፋሽን ሾው ሲያሳዩ ኢትዮጵያን ወክለው የሚታዩ ነበሩ፣ ተምልካቹም አድናቆቱን በጭብጨባና ጩኸት ደስታውን ገልፆላቸዋል። ዲጄ ዳንኤልና እንዲሁም አጋሮቹ የመድርኩን ሙዚቃ በመቆጣጥር የአገር ባህልና ዘመናዊውን በማፈራረቅ በዓሉን አድምቀውታል።

የማህበሩ ፕሬዘዳንት ዶክተር አበበ ወርቁ ወደ ስቴጁ ብቅ በማለት እንደሚከተለው ንግግር አድርገዋል። ውድ የኢትዮጵያ ማህበረሰብ አባላት፣ እንኳን ለአዲሱ ዓመት በሰላም አደረሳችሁ። መጪው የ2007 ዓመት የሰላም፣ የፍቅር፣ የጤናና የደስታ ዘመን እንዲሆንላችሁ ምኞቴን እገልጻለሁ። በዓሉን ከእኛ ጋር ለማክበር የተገኛችሁ እንግዶችን በጣም አመሰግናለሁ።

በቶሮንቶ ከተማችን፣ የኢትዮጵያውያን ካናዳውያን ቀን እና የኢትዮጵያን አዲስ ዓመትን ስናከብር ዛሬ ለ16ኛ ጊዜ መሆኑ ነው። ከዚህ በፊትም ሆነ ዛሬ፣ የዚህ በዓል አከባበር በውስጡ የተለያዩ መልዕክቶችን እና ትርጉሞችን የያዘ ነው። • አንደኛ፤ ይህ ቀን በቶሮንቶ ነዋሪ የሆንን ኢትዮጵያውያን የብዙ ሺህ ዓመት ታሪክ ካላት ሀገራችን የወረስነውን ባህል ለካናዳው ማህበረሰብ

16ኛው ዓመት የኢትዮጵያ-ካናዳ ቀንና እንቁጣጣሽ በደመቀ ሁኔታ ተከበረ

አባላት የምናሳይበት ውብ መደረካችን ነው፤ • ሁለተኛ፣ ይህ ቀን የተለያዩ ብሄረሰብ አባላት፣ የተለያዩ ሀይማኖቶች እና የፖለቲካ አመለካከቶች ተከታይ የሆንን ኢትዮጵያውያን፣ እነኝህ ልዩነቶቻችን ሳያግዱን፣ በኢትዮጵያዊነታችን ተሰባስበን፣ አዲስ ዓመታችንን በአድነት የምናከብርበት ታላቅ ዕለት ነው።በዚህም በዓል መከበር ምክንያት በቶሮንቶ ከተማ የክርስቲ ፒትሰ ፓርክ ትንሿ ኢትዮጵያ ሆና ትውላለች። የተለያዩ ዝግጅቶች ይቀረባሉ።

የኢትዮጵያውን ማህበር በቶሮንቶ እና አከባቢው ለዚህ ሰፊ ትርጉም ላለው እና በጋራ ተሰባስበን ለምናከብረው በዓል ከፍተኛ ትኩረት ይሰጠዋል:: ወደፊትም፣ ማህበራችን የበለጠ ተጠናክሮ እና በዓሉም የበለጠ ደመቆ እንዲከበር የሚቻለው ጥረት ሁሉ ይደረጋል።

የማህበራችን ቦርድ፣ ማህበሩን ለማጠናከር በማሰብ በቅርቡ፣ በዚህ በነሐሴ ወር መጨረሻ ላይ፣ አንድ ወሳኝ እርምጃ ወስዷል። ይኸውም በአሁኑ ጊዜ ለቢሮ ተከራይቶት የሚቀሳቀስበትን፣ በዳንፎርዝ ጎዳና በቁጥር 1950 የሚገኝውን ህንጻ መግዛቱ ነው። የገዛነው በአሁኑ ጊዜ ማህበራችን የሚገለገልባቸውን ክፍሎችን ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ ሙሉውን ባለሦስት ፎቅ ህንጻ ነው። ማህበራችን የዚህ ትልቅ ህንጻ ባለቤት ለመሆን በመቻሉ አንኳን ደስ አላችሁ። የህንጻው መገዛት ለማህበሩ አቅም ግንባታ እና ዘለቂ እድገት ጠንካራ መሰረት የሚጥል ነው።

1.ራስዎትን ብታስተዋውቁኝ?

በጣም አመሰግናለሁ አቶ ተሾመ። ናስር ቃይድ እባላለሁ፣ ትውልዴ ጅማ ኢትዮጵያ ሲሆን ዜግነቴ ካናዳዊና የሶስት ልጆች አባት ነኝ።

2. መቼ ነው ወደ ካናዳ የመጡት? ከዚያ በፊትስ የአሉበትን በአጭሩ ብትገልጹልኝ?

ካናዳ የመጣሁት በ 1988 ዓ.ም. ነው። ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ እያለሁ ተማሪ ነበርኩ፤ ከእናቴና አባቴ ጋር እየኖርኩ አባቴ በሞት ተለየን ከዚያም እናታችን ጠንክራ አሳደገችን እስከ 9ኛ ክፍል አስተማረችኝ። ከዚያ ወደ ሮማ ጣልያን ከዚያም ወደ ካናዳ መጣሁ።

3. ካናዳ ከመጡ በኃላ እስከ አሁን ድረስ ያሉበትን ሁኔታ በአጭሩ ቢገልጹልኝ?

በአውሮፕላን ክንፍ ማሽን ስራ ለ 6 ወር ከሰራሁ በኃላ ከ9-13 ክፍል ተማርኩ። ከዚያም ወደ Carlton University በመግባት በ Bsc Computer Math ትምህርቴን ጨረስኩ።

4. ያጋጠመዎትን ዋና ዋና ደካማ ጎኖች ቢጠቁምን? ለዚህስ ምን መፍትሄ ወሰዱ? የምታደንቁት ነገር ካለ?

ተማሪ እያለሁ የሚረዳ አባትም እናትም አልነበረኝም። ከቤት ስራና ጥናት በተጨማሪ ቀለብ መስራት ነበረብኝ። ከትምህርት ቤት ስመለስ ምግብ መስራት፣ እንደገና የቤት ስራየን ሌሊት ተነስቸ እሰራለሁ። አንድ ቀን በጣም ሲበዛብን ሌሊት ተነስቼ በቃ መማሩ ይቅርብኝ ወደ ስራ አለም ልግባ አልኩኝ፤ ነገር ግን ማቋረጥ እንደሌለብኝና መጨረሱ አማራጭ የሌለው ስለነበረ ትምህርቴን ሳላቋርጥ ጨርሼ ወጣሁ። በጣም የማደንቀው ካናዳ ውስጥ የህግ የበላይነት አለ።

5. ስለ ፕብሊክ ስኩል ትረስቲ መሠረታዊ ጽንሰ ሀሳብ ለአንባብያን ቢገልጹልን? ዋና ሃላፊነትና የሚጫወተው ሚና ምንድን ነው? ለምን ውድድር አስፈለገ?

School Board Trustees- School Board የሚመራው በሕዝብ የተመረጠ Board Members ህዝቡን ወክሎ የቀረበና ለአካባቢው የህዝብ ትምህርት ቤት የሚደግፍ፣ ሀላፊነታቸው Board መርዳትና በትምህርት ሚኒስቴር

እናስተዋውቃችሁ!!የሚመጣውን ሁሉ ህግ ማሟላት ነው። ሌላው ደግሞ የተማሪዎችን ጤንነታቸውን ይመለከታሉ። አንዳንዴ ውሳኔ ሲሰጡ ለጠቅላላው Board District እና ለተመረጠበት አካባቢ ይሆናል። ስራው ቀላል አይደለም Ontario በጣም ትልቅና (Diverse) የተለየ ነው፤ አንድ ላይ በመስራት ህጎችን ለሁሉም ተማሪዎች ያወጣሉ፤ስራ ላይ እንዲውል ያደርጋሉ፤ ለምሳሌ አዲስ ትምህርት ቤት ካለ ስም ያወጣሉ። ለብቻ አንድ Trustee የሚወሰነው ውሳኔ የለም፤ሁሉም ውሳኔ የጋራ ይሆናል። ሁሌ ውሳኔ ሲሰጥ ቅድሚያ ሁሉን ተማሪ የሚመለከት መሆን አለበት። ለምን ውድድር አስፈላገ ለሚለው በህዝብ የተመረጠ መሆን ስላለበት ነው።

6. ለዚህ ስኩል ተርስቲ እጩ ለመሆን ምን አነሳሳዎ? እጩ ለመሆን የሚያስፈልጉ መስፈርቶች ምንድን ናቸው? ለወደፊትስ ቢመረጡ ምን ያደርጋሉ? አንባብያንስ ምን እንዲያደርጉልዎት ይፈልጋሉ?

የዛሬ 4 አመት Samuel Getachew ለካውንስልነት ሲወዳዳር Ontario ተማሪዎች ውጤት ከፍ ብሎ እንዲታይ Trustee ሆኘ ለመርዳት ወሰንኩ እና ጊዜው ደረሰ። እጩ ለመሆን ህዝቡን ማሳመን እና ያለውን ችግር እፈታለሁ Ontario መንግስት የሚሰጠውን ለትምህርት ቤት እርዳታ በቂ ቦታ እንዲውል አደርጋለሁ። ይህ ሁሉ ከፍ ያለ የትምህርት ሃላፊነት ይጠይቃል። አቶ ተሾመ እኛ ኢትዮጵያውያን በዚህ ሲስተም ገብተን ወጣቱን መስመር ለማስያዝ ነው። የሁላችሁን እርዳታ እጠይቃለሁ። ካሸነፍኩ በትምህርት ቤት የልጆች ችግር ካለ እረዳቸዋለሁ። Scharborough South West Ward 18 “ School Board Trustee ስሜን ካያችሁ Naser Kaid ይምረጡኝ!

7. ለኢትዮጵያ ኮሚኒቲ የእርሶ እጩ ሆኖ መቅረብ አንድምታው ምንድን ነው ብለው ያስባሉ?

ለሚያድጉ ወጣቶች ምሳሌ መሆን ጥሩ ነው። በተለይ እዚህ ለተወለዱ ወጣቶች ብዙ ቦታ መሳተፍና ራሱንና ህብረተሰቡን መርዳት ትልቅ ነገር ነው።

8. በእርሶ እይታ ወይም ሕልም እስከ ዛሬ አምስት አመት የት ይደርሳል ብለው ያስባሉ?ካሸነፍኩ 4 አመት አገለግልና as Trustee ከዚያ Chair Leader ለመሆን እጥራለሁ።

9. ከላይ ያልጠቀስኩት ለአንባብያን ማለት የሚፈልጉት አለ?

ምንም የቀረ ነገር የለም ያው እርዱኝ በቅርብ የመረዳጃ ዝግጅት ለማድረግ ወስኛለሁ።

ስፖርትየስፖርት ዘገባበአውሮፓ ቀደምት የእግር ኳስ ሊጋዎች ውስጥ የክረምቱ ዕረፍት ተጠናቆ ሁለተኛው ዙር ውድድር የሚከፈትበት ጊዜ እየተቃረበ ሲሆን የተለያዩት ክለቦች ሞቃት በሆኑት የደቡብ አውሮፓ አካባቢዎች ዝግጅታቸውን ጀምረዋል።ለምሳሌ ያህል የጀርመን ቡንደስሊጋ ቀደምት ክለቦች ባየርን ሙንሺንና ሻልከ ከአገራቸው ቅዝቃዜ በመሸሽ በካታር ሲከትሙ ቮልፍስቡርግም እዚያው ፈንጠር ብሎ በዱባይ እየተለማመደ ነው። ከሁለት ክለቦች በስተቀር ሌሎቹም በቱርክና በስፓኝ ለመልሱ ዙር ራሳቸውን ማማሟቅ ይዘዋል።

በአጠቃላይ በስፓኝ፣ በኢጣሊያ፤ በፈረንሣይ፣ በኔዘርላንድ፣ በፖርቱጋል ወዘተ... በአዲስ ተጫዋቾች ጭምር ተጠናክሮ ለመመለስ የተለመደው ዝግጅት እየተካሄደ ሲሆን በእንግሊዝ ፕሬሚየር ሊግ በአንጻሩ ውድድሩ ቀጥሏል። ሊጋውን በአንደኝነት የሚመራው ማንቼስተር ሢቲይ ሰሞኑን በሰንደርላንድ 1-0 ሲረታ የተቀሩት ቀደምት ክለቦች ማንቼስተር ዩናይትድና ቼልሢይም ሰንበቱን ያሳለፉት በሽንፈት ነበር። በተለይም የማንቼስተር ዩናይትድ በበጋው መጨረሻ በብላክበርን ሮቨርስ ለዚያውም በገዛ ሜዳው በኦልድ-ትፔፎርድ መሸነፍ ለዝናኛ አሠልጣኙ ለሰር/አሌክስ ፈርጊሰን ሰባኛ ዓመት የልደት በዓል የተጠበቀው ስጦታ አልነበረም። ማኒዩ በዚሁ ግጥሚያ 3-2 ሲረታ ሰር/ፈርጊሰንም በደስታ የጀመሩትን ቀን ያጠዋለሉት በብሽቀት ነው። ቼልሢይም በሜዳው በኤስተን ቪላ 3-1 ተሸንፏል።

በነገራችን ላይ የማኒዩ መሸነፍ በአጥቂው በዌይን ሩኒይ ስነ-ምግባር ጉድለት ላይ የሚደረገው ክርክር እንደገና እንዲጠነክር ነው ያደረገው። እርግጥ ሩኒይ በዕለቱ ለቡድኑ አልተሰለፈም። ለዚህም ምክንያት የሆነው በተለይ በገናው በዓል ወቅት የሌት የመጠጥ ቤት ዙረቱ መጋለጥ ነበር። የብሪታኒያ የዜና ምንጮች እንደሚሉት ፈርጊሰን የ 300 ሺህ ኤውሮ መቀጮ ሳይጥሉበት አልቀረም። መቀጮው ለሩኒይ የአንድ ሣምንት ገቢውን ያህል መሆኑ ሲነገር ታዲያ በዚህ ዕርምጃ ጸባዩን እንዲያሳምር መገፋት መቻሉ እያደር የሚታይ ነው የሚሆነው።

ያም ሆነ ይህ ከሰንበቱ 19ኛ ግጥሚያዎች በኋላ ማንቼስተር ሢቲይ ፕሬሚየር ሊጉን በ 45 ነጥቦች የሚመራ ሲሆን ማንቼስተር ዩናይትድ በተመሳሳይ ነጥብ ሆኖም በጎል ልዩነት በመበለጥ ሁለተኛ ነው። ቶተንሃም ሆትስፐር አንድ ጨዋታ ጎሎት በ 39 ነጥቦች ሶሥተኛ ሲሆን አርሰናል ኩዊንስ-ፓርክ-ሬንጀርስን 1-0 በመርታት ቼልሢይን ተሻግሮ አራተኛ ሊሆን በቅቷል። ሊቨርፑል ስድሥተኛ ነው። የፕሬሚየር ሊጉ ውድድር በአዲሱ ዓመትም ማራኪ ሆኖ የሚቀጥል ሲሆን 17 በማስቆጠር ሊጋውን በጎል አግቢነት የሚመራው ሆላንዳዊው የአርሰናል ተጫዋች ሮቢን-ፋን-ፐርዚ ነው።

የኒውካስል ዩናይትዱ ዴምባ-ባ በ 14 ሁለተኛ ሲሆን የማንቼስተር ሢቲይና የማንቼስተር ዩናይትድ አጥቂዎች ሤርጆ አጉዌሮና ዌይን ሩኒይ ደግሞ እያንዳንዳቸው 13 ጎሎችን አስቆጥረዋል። የእንግሊዝን ፕሬሚየር ሊግ ካነሣን የወቅቱ የስፓኙ ቀደምት ክለብ የሬያል ማድሪድ አሠልጣኝ ሆሴ ሞሪኞ በሁለት ዓመት ጊዜ ውስጥ ወደ ብሪታኒያ ለመመለስ ያስባል ሲል የተሰራጨውን ዜና የትርጉም ስህተት ነው በማለት አስተባብሏል። የፖርቱጋሉ ተወላጅ የአንዴ የቼልሢይ አሠልጣኝ ሞሪኞ ሬያል ካላባረረኝ በስተቀር ከዚያ ንቅንቅ እልልም ሲል ክለቡን ለማረጋጋት ሞክሯል። ዕውነት ወሬው ሙሉ በሙሉ የፈጥራ ነበር? በተጨባጭ ምን እንደሚከሰት እያደር የሚታይ ነገር ይሆናል።

ኔይማር የዓመቱ ተጫዋችከአውሮፓ ወደ ላቲን አሜሪካ ሻገር እንበልና የብራዚሉ ወጣት ኮከብ ኔይማር የደቡብ አሜሪካ የ 2011 ዓ.ም. የእግር ኳስ ኮከብ በመባል ተሰይሟል። ለሣንቶስ የሚጫወተው ኔይማር ባለፈው ሰኔ ወር በክፍለ-ዓለሚቱ የኮፓ-ሊበርታዶሬስ ዋንጫ ውድድር የኡሩጉዋዩን ክለብ ፔናሮልን በማሸነፉ ረገድ ግሩም አስተዋጽኦ ሲያደርግ በዚህ ማዕረግ የሚተካው የአርጄንቲናውን አንድሬስ-ዴ-አሌሣንድሮን ነው። ምርጫውን የሚያካሂደው የኡሩጉዋዩ ዕለታዊ ጋዜጣ ኤል-ፓይስ እንዳስታወቀው ኔይማር በአንደኝነት የተመረጠው 130 ድምጽ በማግኘት ነው።

ለኢጣሊያው ክለብ ለናፖሊ የሚጫወተው የቺሌው አጥቂ ኤዱዋርዶ ቫርጋስ በሰባ ድምጽ በሁለተኝነት ተመርጧል። በዓመቱ ግሩም አሠልጣኝነት ደግሞ የኡሩጉዋዩ ኦስካር-ዋሺንግተን-ታባሬስ በተከታታይ ለሁለተኛ ጊዜ ተመርጠዋል። ታባሬስ በደቡብ አፍሪቃ የዓለም ዋንጫ ውድድር ለግማሽ ፍጻሜ ያደረሱትን የኡሩጉዋይን ብሄራዊ ቡድን ባለፈው ሐምሌ ወር ደግሞ ለ 15ኛ የኮፓ-አሜሪካ ድል ማብቃታቸው የሚታወስ ነው። ታባሬስ የኡሩዎችን እግር ኳስ ለከበሬታ አብቅተዋል ቢባል ማጋነን አይሆንም። ኡሩጉዋይ ከሰላሣኛዎቹ ዓመታት ሁለት የዓለም ዋንጫ ድሎች በኋላ ለአያሌ ዓመታት ደካማ ሆና ነበር የኖረችው። ዛሬ ግን ብራዚልንና አርጄንቲናን ከምታስንቅበት ወቅት ላይ ናት።

በጋቡንና በኤኩዋቶሪያል ጊኒ የጋራ አስተናጋጅነት የሚካሄደው የ 2012 የአፍሪቃ እግር ኳስ ዋንጫ ፍጻሜ ውድድር ሊከፈት የቀረው ከሶሥት ሣምንታት ያነሰ ጊዜ

ነው። በውድድሩ መቃረብ የተነሣም ተሳታፊዎቹ አገሮች የሚያደርጉት መሰናዶ መጠናከር ይዟል። ለምሳሌ ያህል በቤልጂጉ ተወላጅ በኤሪክ ጌሬትስ የሚሰለጥነው የሞሮኮ ብሄራዊ ቡድን ዓለምአቀፍ ልምድ ያፈሩ ተጫዋቾቹን ሲያሰባስብ ጊኒም ተመሳሳይ ዕርምጃ ወስዳለች። የሞሮኮ የምድብ ተጋጣሚዎች ጋቡን፣ ኒጀርና ቱኒዚያ ናቸው። በነገራችን ላይ የቱኒዚያ ብሄራዊ ቡድን ባለፈው አርብ ስፓኝ ውስጥ ከካታሎኒያ ምርጥ ጋር ማማሟቂያ ግጥሚያ በማካሄድ ባዶ-ለባዶ ተለያይቶ ነበር።

ጊኒ በምድብ-አራት ውስጥ የቦትሱዋና፣ የጋናና የማሊ ተጋጣሚ ናት። ጋናን ካነሣን የቼልሢው ኮከብ ማይክል ኤሢየን ከረጅም ጊዜ የጉልበት ጉዳቱ አገግሞ ለቡድኑ እንደሚሰለፍ ተሥፋ ይደረጋል። ከዚህ ሌላ ስዋዚላንድ ደግሞ ለቀጣዩ 2013 ዓ.ም. የአፍሪቃ ዋንጫ የሚካሄደው ማጣሪያ ከመጀመሩ ከሣምንት በፊት ከውድድሩ መውጣቷን አስታውቃለች። ስዋዚላንድ በፊታችን ሰንበትና ከዚያም በሁለት ሣምንቱ ከሤይሼልስ እንድትጋጠም ተመድባ ነበር። የአገሪቱ ፌደሬሺን ባለሥልጣናት ለአወጣጡ የሰጡት ምክንያት የገንዘብ እጥረት የሚል ነው።

የስዋዚላንድ ዘግይቶ መውጣት ከአፍሪቃ እግር ኳስ ኮንፌደሬሺን በኩል የገንዘብ መቀጮን ሊያስከትልና አገሪቱ ከ 2015 የአፍሪቃ ዋንጫ ውድድር እንድትታገድ ሊያደርግም የሚችል ነው። የአፍሪቃ ዋንጫ ውድድር ከዓለም ዋንጫ ፍጻሜ እንዳይጋጭ በማሰብ ከሚቀጥለው ዓመት አንስቶ በጎዶሎ ዓመት እንዲካሄድ መወሰኑ ይታወቃል። ለዚህም ነው በየሁለት ዓመቱ የሚካሄደው ውድድር ዘንድሮና በመጪው ዓመት መከታተሉ።

አትሌቲክስ47ኛው የስፓኝ ሣን-ሢልቬስትሬ፤ የዘመን መለወጫ የአሥር ኪሎሜትር ሩጫ ውድድር የኢትዮጵያ አትሌቶች ልዕልና የታየበት ሆኖ አልፏል። በውድድሩ በወንዶች ወጣቱ አትሌት ሃጎስ ገ/ሕይወት ሲያሸንፍ በሴቶች ደግሞ የኦሎምፒኳ ሻምፒዮን ጥሩነሽ ዲባባ ባለድል ሆናለች።

በወንዶች የኤርትራው ተወዳዳሪ ተክለማርያም መድህን ሁለተኛ ሲወጣ ሶሥት የስፓኝ ተወዳዳሪዎች እስከ አምሥተኛው ቦታ በመከታተል ገብተዋል። በሴቶች ገለቴ ቡርቃ ጥሩነሽን ተከትላ ሁለተኛ ስትሆን ሩጫውን በሶሥተኝነት የፈጸመችው የብሪታኒያዋ አትሌት ሱዛን ፓርትሪጅ ነበረች። ባቲ ቡርቃ ስድሥተኛ!

በሣን-ሢልቬስሬው የ 15 ኪሎሜትር ሩጫ ደግሞ የኬንያ አትሌቶች ቀንቷቸዋል። የዓለም አትሌቲክስ ሻምፒዮና የማራቶን የብር ሜዳሊያ ተሸላሚ የነበረችው ፕሪስካ ጄፕቱ ውዴ አያሌውን ቀድማ ስታሸንፍ ሌላዋ ኬንያዊት ኤውኒስ ኪርዋም ሶሥተኛ ሆናለች። በወንዶች ያሸነፈው ታሪኩ በቀለ ነው። አዲሱ ዓመት ለኢትዮጵያ አትሌቶች ካለፈው የተሻለና ስኬት የሰመረበት እንደሚሆን ተሥፋ እናደርጋለን።

ቴኒስበአውስትራሊያ-ብሪስቤን ዓለምአቀፍ የቴኒስ ውድድር የመጀመሪያ ዙር ግጥሚያዎች ዛሬ የሚከተሉት ውጤቶች ተመዝግበዋል። በሴቶች የጀርመኗ አንድሬያ ፔትኮቪች የእሥራኤል ተጋጣሚዋን ሻሃር ፔርን 2-1 ስታሸንፍ አሜሪካዊቱ ሤሬና ዊሊያምስም ደቡብ አፍሪቃዊቱን ቻኔል ሺፐርስን በሁለት ምድብ ጨዋታ ረትታለች። ከዚሁ ሌላ የኤስቶኒያዋ ካያ ካኔፒ ሩሢያዊቱን አሌክሣንድራ ፓኖቫን፤ ቫኒያ ኪንግ ሜሊንዳ ሺንክን፤ አና ኢቫኖቫ ታማራ ፓሼክን፤ ጋሊና ቦስኮቦየቫ ቬራ ዱሼቪናን በማሸነፍ ለተከታዩ ዙር አልፈዋል። በወንዶች ደግሞ ዢል ሙለር ሪካርዶ ሜሎን፤ በርናርድ ቶሚክ ጁሊየን ባኔቱን፤ ዴኒስ ኢስቶሚን ፍሎሪያን ማየርን አሸንፈዋል።

አርጄንቲና ውስጥ በአትላንቲክ ጠረፍ አኳያ የሚካሄደው ውጣ-ውረድ የበዛው እሽቅድድም የዳካር ራሌይ ደግሞ በአዲሱ ዓመት ከባድ አደጋ በጋረደው ሁኔታ ተጀምሯል። ይሄውም የ 38 ዓመቱ ቢስክሌት ዘዋሪ ሆርሄ-ማርቲኔዝ-ቦኤሮ ትናንት ሕይወቱን ማጣቱ ነው። ቦኤሮን ለማዳን የተደረገው ጥረት ሁሉ ከጉዳቱ ከባድነት የተነሣ ሳይሣካ ቀርቷል። በጸጥታ ምክንያት ከአራት ዓመታት በፊት ከአፍሪቃ ወደ ደቡብ አሜሪካ የተሻገረው ራሌይ አደገኛና ቀድሞም ለብዙዎች ሞት ምክንያት መሆኑ የሚታወቅ ነው። የመጀመሪያው ከፓሪስ-ዳካር ራሌይ እ.ጎ.አ. በ 1979 ከተጀመረ ወዲህ ሕይወታቸውን ያጡት ተሳታፊዎች ከሃያ ይበልጣሉ። በአርጄንቲና ቦኤሮ ከፈረንሣዊው ከፓስካል ሄንሪ ተከትሎ ሁለተኛው መሆኑ ነው።

ሀተታ/ትንታኔ 3 አንደኛ ነገር፤ ይህ ስብሰባ ህዝባዊ ስብሰባ ነው፡፡ እንዲህ ባለው ህዝባዊ ስብሰባ ላይ፤ የመግቢያውን ችሮታ እስከከፈለ ድረስ፤ ኢህአዴግን ጨምሮ፤ ማንም መገኘት ይችላል፡፡ በዚህ ስብሰባ ላይም፤ ኢህአዴግ አምስት ስድስት የራሱን ሰዎች አይልክም ብሎ ማለት ስህተት ነው፡፡ ስለዚህ እነዚህ ሰዎች በግልጽ ፎቶ ባያነሱም፤ የተሰብበሳቢውን ማንነት አይዙም ወይም አያስተላልፉም ማለት የዋህነት ነው፡፡ እንደአንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ ያለ ሰው የተበላበት ሁኔታም የመነጨው እንዲህ ያለውን የደህንነት ሀሁ ካለማወቅ ሊሆን ይችላል፡፡

4 ሁለተኛ ነገር፤ ፎቶ አታነሱም ብሎ ከመከልከል ይልቅ፤ በተቻለ መጠን የሰዎችን ማንነት በማይለይ መልኩ እንዲነሳ ወይም ፎቶም ቪዲዮም ከጀርባ እንዲቀረጽ ማድረግ ይቻላል፡፡ ሶስተኛ ነገር፤ ይሄ ካናዳ ነው፡፡ ጋዜጠኛውም ይሁን ሌሎች በዚህ ውስጥ ጥቅም ያላቸው ወገኖች፤ ልክ እኛ ኢህአዴጎቹ በተሰበሰቡ ቁጥር እንደምናደርገው፤ ከውጭ ካሜራቸውን ደግነው፤ ገቢ ወጪውን ቢቀርጹ፤ ተሰልፈው ሁሉ ወጥተው ስብሰባችንን

የግንቦት 7 የቶሮንቶ ስበሰባ፤ የትዝታ ፎቶ ማንሳት መከልከልቢቃወሙ የሚያግዳቸው ህግ የለም፡፡

5 አራተኛውና ከምንም በላይ የሚያነጋግረው ነገር ግን፤ እንደመርህ፤ ለሰዎች ነጻነት የሚታገል ድርጅት የሰዎችን ነጻነት የሚገድብበት አግባብ የት ድረስ ነው የሚለው፡፡ ወደኢትዮጵያ የሚመላለሱ ጥቂት ሰዎችን ደህንነት ለመጠበቅ ሲባል፤ ሀሳብን በነጻነት የመግለጽ መብት መገደብ አግባብ አይደለም፡፡ ከኢትዮጵያ ከሚያስደዱን ነገሮች ውስጥ አንደኛው፤ ይሄ ሀሳብን በነጻነት ያለመግለጽ መብት ሆኖ ሳለ፤ ባለፉት ጥቂት ወራት ብቻ አያሌ ጋዜጠኞች የዚህ መብት እጦት ጦስ ሰለባ እንደሆኑ እያየን፤ ግንቦት ሰባትም ለነጻነት የሚታገል ድርጅት ሆኖ ሳለ፤ ገና ለገና ወደኢትዮጵያ የሚመላለሱ፤ ወይም ኢትዮጵያ ንብረት ያላቸው ሰዎች ቢታዩ አደጋ ይገጥማቸዋል ብሎ፤ ይሄንን ሕዝባዊ ስበስባን ባሻ መንገድ የመዘገብ መብትን፤ በሌላ አነጋገርም ሀሳብን በነጻነት የመግለጽ መብትን መገደቡ፤ ግንት 7 ከቆመለት ዓላማ ጋር ይጋጫል፡፡ መጋጨት ብቻም ሳይሆን፤ በውጭ ለሚኖሩ ኢትዮጵያዊን ፍርሀትን መስበክ፤ ለኢህአዴግም የልብ ልብ መስጠት ነው፡፡

6 በመጀመሪያ ደረጃ፤ ግንቦት ሰባትን መርዳት እየፈለጉ፤ ወይም በግንቦት ሰባት ስራ ውስጥ መሳተፍ እየፈለጉ፤ ነገር ግን ወደአገር ቤት ሰለሚመላለሱ ወይም አገርቤት ሀብት ንብረት ስላላቸው፤ በዚህ ምክንያት መታውቅ የማይፈልጉ ሰዎች ካሉ፤ ቀድሞውንም ነገር ግንቦት ሰባትን መርዳት የሚችሉበት ብቸኛ መንገድ ግንቦት ሰባት በሚጠራቸው ህዝባዊ ስብሰባዎች ላይ መገኘት ስላልሆነ፤ ጭራሹንም ስብሰባው ላይ ሳይገኙ፤ የገንዘብም የሞራልም፤ የቁሳቁስም እርዳታ ማድረግ ይችላሉ፡፡ ወይም ከግንቦት ሰባት የአካባቢ ተጠሪ ጋር መገናኘትና ማድረግ የሚችሉትን ነገር በስውር ማድረግ ይችላሉ፡፡ ዞሮ ዞሮ ስብሰባው በራሱ በግንቦት ሰባት ተቀርጾ በድረገጾችና በመገናኛ ብዙሀን ስለሚተላለፍ፤ በስበስባው ላይ ሳይገኙ በስብሰባው የተባለውን መከታተል ይችላሉ፡፡ ስለዚህ እነዚህ ሰዎች ካሉ፤ ለነሱ ተብሎ የሌላኛውን መሰረታዊ መብት መጨፍለቅ ራሱ የተሳሳተ አካሄድ ነው፡፡

ታሪክ 7 መብት ለመገደብ፤ ሁሌም ሰበብ አይጠፋም፡፡ እውነተኛ ታጋይና አታጋይ ድርጅት፤ መብት ለመጠበቅ እንጂ መብት ለመሰንጠቅ ሰበብ መደርደር የለበትም፡፡ ለዚህ ለዚህማ ገዢው ስርአት፤ ኢህአዴግ፤ ሰብአዊ መብቶችን ለመጨፍለቅ የተለያዩ ምክንያቶችንና ሰበቦችን መደርደሩ አልቀረም፡፡ ለምሳሌ ነጻ ሚዲያ፤ ቴሌቪዥን፤ ሬድዮ ለግለሰቦች የማትለቁት ለምንድር ነው ተብለው ሲጠየቁ፤ ነጻ ሚዲያ ከተለቀቀ፤ ሕዝብን በህዝብ ላይ የሚያነሳሳ የሚያጋጭ ስራ ሊሰራበት ይችላል የሚል ስጋት እንደምክንያት ያቀርባሉ፡፡ በርግጥም ያ ስጋት ካለና ተጨባጭ ከሆነ፤ ሚዲያን መቆጣጠር አግባብ ነው ያሰኛል፡፡ በኢህአዴግ በኩል ይሄ ምክንያት ለ23 አመታት ስራ ላይ ውሏል፡፡ ወደፊትም መዋሉ ቀጥላል፡፡ ስለዚህ አንዱ የምንቃወመው፤ ግንቦት ሰባትን የወለደው፤ ግንቦት ሰባትም ለማስደገድ የሚታገለው በደል ይሄ ይመስለኛል፡፡

መደምደሚያ 8 ይሄንን ኢህአዴግ ላይ ስናየው የሚያስጠላንን ባህርይ ግን፤ የኛም ድርጅቶች ሲደግሙት መታገስ የለብንም፡፡ የተወሰኑ ሰዎችን ደህንነት ጥበቃ፤ የሁላችንንም መብት የሚደፈጥጥና የምንዋጋለትን መርህ የሚኒድ ህግ ወይም ደንብ ወይም አሰራር ማውጣት ያለብንም፡፡ ስለዚህ በግንቦት ሰባት ሕዝባዊ ስብሰባ ላይ፤ የትዝታ ጋዜጣ ባለቤትና አዘጋጅ

አቶ ተሸመ ፎቶ እንዳያነሳ መደረጉን አጥብቄ አወግዛለሁ፡፡ ግንቦት ሰባት እንዲህ አይነቱን አካሄድ ማረም አለበት፡፡ ግንቦት ሰባት፤ ያጣነውን ነጻነት የሚያስመልስልን ያለንን መብት በመንፈግ አይደለም፡፡ በ2007፤ ግንቦት ሰባት ያጣነውን መብት ማስመለሱ ካልተሳካለት፤ ያለንን ግን እንዲያሳጣን

አንፈቅድም፡፡

In July 2012, Eskinder Nega was sentenced to 18 years in prison. In June 2011, Reeyot Alemu was arrested and convicted to 14 years of imprisonment, reduced to five on appeal.

Their crimes? Practicing journalism in Ethiopia.

Nega and Alemu are award-winning journalists who shared the prestigious Human Rights Watch Hellman-Hammett Award in 2012. For Nega, whose first child was born while he and his wife were in custody for treason , the arrest came days after publishing a column that criticized the Ethiopian government’s detainment of journalists as suspected terrorists. For Alemu, a former high school English teacher, the arrest came days after she critiqued the ruling political party in an independent newspaper later shut down by the government.

Armed Forces Have Numerous Career Opportunities.By William Doyle-Marshall “I would encourage you when you

see someone in uniform, although you may not know their name, they are already committed to defending you with duty, with loyalty and with courage and if need be to sacrifice their life in defence of you in defence of Canada, defence of Canadian interest, as forefathers before them for many years.” General Tom Lawson, Chief of Defence Staff gave this advice to members of the National Ethnic Press and Media Council Monday morning. Council members met with the top National Defence spokesman at a specially convened during which he briefed them about current developments related to national and international happenings. As Chief of Defence Staff General Lawson emphasize the greatest assets are our people, not the thousands of pieces of equipment in the Canadian Armed Forces custody. “They (people) are the ones wearing the uniform, they are the one using the equipment. With people comes hope; they make the decisions on the ground – the key decisions that make their actions effective,” the general disclosed. The General stressed the importance of having the opportunity to speak to ethnic media representatives provided him an opportunity to make sure that those who come and make Canada and Toronto such a rich part

of this nation are well aware of what Defence means to them. We who are in uniform are defending those things you are interested in. The Canadian Armed Forces are very interested that the media takes the time to comment on its role in society. Lawson urged them to see themselves invested in defence. In addition, he hopes those who are influence by the media practitioners -- children, nieces and nephews

may consider a career in the Canadian military. “More and more people are doing so,” he counseled. The remarkable individuals serving in the Armed Forces, he noted, come from all backgrounds. Some came from rural communities; some like him are from right here in big cities like Toronto. The General

.በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ስለ ሽብርተኝነት ያለው አረዳድ እና ወያኔ ሽብርተኝነትን የሚተረጉምበት መንገድ ለየቅል ናቸው። በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ የሽብርተኝነት ጉዳይ እንደ ዋና አጀንዳ ተይዞ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ መነጋገሪያ የሆነው በ1934 ዓ.ም (እ.ኤ.አ) ነው። በዛሬው የተባበሩት መንግሥታት ድርጅት የተተካው የሊግ ኦፍ ኔሽን በሽብርተኝነት ዙሪያ ሲመክር ቆይቶ በ1937 ዓ.ም (እ.ኤ.አ) ሽብርተኝነትን ለመከላከል እና ለመቅጣት የሚያስችል አንድ ድንጋጌ (Convention for the prevention and punishment of terrorism) አጽድቋል። ከዚህ ድንጋጌም በኋላ ከ14 የሚበልጡ አለም አቀፍ ድንጋጌዎችና ስምምነቶች በተባበሩት መንግስታት ጸድቀዋል። የእነዚህ ሕጎች ዋነኛ አላማም መንግሥታት ሽብርተኝነትን በተናጠልም ሆነ በጋራ እንዲዋጉ ለማስተባበር ብቻ ሳይሆን ሽብርተኝነትን እንዋጋለን በሚል ሽፋን በዜጎቻቸውም ሆነ በተቀረው የሰው ዘር ላይ መድልዎን፣ ግፍና በደሎችን በመፈጸም ሰብአዊ መብቶችን ለማክበርና ለማስከበር የተጣለባቸውን አለም አቀፋዊ ግዴታ እንዳይዘነጉም ለማሳሰብ ነው። ምንም እንኳን ኃያላኖቹ አገራት ሳይቀሩ የጸረ-ሽብር ዘመቻን ለፖለቲካና ኢኮኖሚያዊ ጥቅሞቻቸው ማስገኛ ሲያውሉትና ሲመነዝሩት በግልጽ ቢስተዋልም በሽብርተኝነት ላይ ያላቸው ምልከታና አቋም ግን በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ከተቀመጡት መመዘኛዎች የራቁ አይደሉም።

በወያኔ መንደር ሽብርተኝነት ለየት ያለ መልክ ነው ያለው። የወያኔ የሽብርተኝነት መስፈርትም ሆነ ትርጓሜ ብዙ ሃገሮች፤ አንባገነን የተባሉት ሳይቀሩ ስለሽብርተኝነት ካላቸው ግንዛቤም ሆነ ከአለም አቀፉ መመዘኛዎች የተለየ ነው። የሽብርተኝነት ተግባር እየተተረጎመ ያለው በወያኔ ባልሥልጣናት የመሸበር መንፈስና ሰለራሳቸው ሥልጣን ብቻ በማሰብ ከጭንቀት በመነጨ የፍርሃት ስሜት ላይ የተመሰረተ ነው:: ባለሥልጣናቱን ጭንቅት ወስጥ የሚጥል፣ የሚያስደነብር፣ የሚያስቀይም፣ የሚያስቆጣ ወይም የሚያሰፈራራና እንቅልፍ አጥተው እንዲያድሩ የሚያደርግ ተግባራትን የፈጸመ ሁሉ በሽብርተኛነት ይፈረጃል:: ሟቹ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ቀይ መስመር አስምረውና አዋቅረውት የሄዱትን የወያኔን አጥር የሚነቀንቅ ብቻ ሳይሆን ጠጋ የሚልም ሁሉ በአሸባሪነተ ሊፈረጅ፣ ሊታሰርና ሊከሰስ እንዲሁም ሊፈረድበት እንደሚችል እየታየ ነው:: ለአገዛዝ ሥርዓቱ የሥልጣን ዘመን መራዘም ስጋት ሊሆኑ ይችላሉ የሚሉዋቸውን አካላትና ግልሰቦች ሁሉ አሸባሪ አያሉ መክሰስ የተለመደ ሆኗል። ብዕራቸውን አንስተው በመንግሥት ላይ የሰሉ ትችቶችን በመጻፍ ተቃውሟቸውን የገለጹ፣ የሃይማኖትና የተለያዩ ማህበራዊ ተቋማትን በመወከል የመብት ጥያቄዎችን አንስተው የተሟገቱ የሕዝብ ወኪሎች፣ በወያኔ በባለሥልጣናት የተፈጸሙ ወንጀሎችን፣ ሙስናዎችን፣ አገርና ሕዝብን ያዋረዱ ተግባራትን ያጋለጡና ባደባባይ ሥርዓቱን የሞገቱ ጋዜጠኞች፣ የማህብራዊ ድረ-ገጽ ገተሳታፊዎች፣ የሰብአዊ መብት ተሟጋቾች፣ በሕጋዊ መንገድ ተመዝግበው የሚንቀሳቀሱ የፖለቲካ ፓርቲ አመራሮችና አባላትን ጭምር የሽብርተኝነት ካባ እያከናነቡ ማጎርና መወንጀል የሥርዓቱ ዋና ስልት ሆኗል። ይህም ወያኔ አለም በሚሸበርበት ጉዳይ ሳይሆን ራሱ በፍርሃት በፈጠረው የሽብር ዓለም ወሰጥ መሆኑን ያሳያል::

ከግለሰብ (ከሟቹ ጠ/ሚ መለስ) አንባገነናዊነት ወደ ቡድን አንባገነናዊነት የተሸጋገረው የወያኔ-ኢሕአዴግ ሥርዓት ከመቼው ጊዜ በከፋ ሁኔታ በፍርሃት መዋጡን የሚያመላክቱ በርካታ ክስተቶችንም እያስተዋልን ነው። ፍጹም አምባገነንና ፈላጭ ቆራጭ የነበሩትን አቶ መለስ በብዙ ትናንሽ መለሶች ለመተካት ተጥሯል። ምንም እንኳን በበቂ ማስረጃ ማረጋገጥ ባይቻልም የሥርዓቱ ተዋናይ ከነበሩ እና አሁንም በሥልጣን ላይ ካሉ የአመራር አባላት እየሾለኩ የሚወጡት መረጃዎች እንደሚጠቁሙት በድርጅቱ ውስጥ ባሉት ጎሣን መሰረት ያደረጉት ክፍልፋዮች መካከል ከሚስተዋለው ጤናማ ያልሆነ የፖለቲካ ፉክክር እና ሽኩቻ ባሻገር በግለሰቦች ዙሪያ የመቧደን ስሜት እየጎላ በመምጣቱም ድርጅቱ ውስጥ ፍርሃት እንዲነግስ አድርጓል። ይህንን ክፍተት በመጠቀም በሰላማዊም ሆነ በነፍጥ ኃይል የሥርዓት ለውጥ ለማምጣት የተደራጁ የፖለቲካ ኃይሎችና ቡድኖች መነቃቃትም በፍርሃት ውስጥ ያለውን የወያኔን ሥርዓት የበለጠ እንዲደነብር አድርጎታል።

ወያኔ፣ ሽብር እና እኛ – ያሬድ ኃይለማርያምብራስልስ፣አልማዝ ካነበብችው የላከችልን

በተለይም ከቅርብ ጊዜ ወዲህ በሰላማዊ ትግል አምነው ከተደራጁት የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች መካከል የተወሰኑት በተከታታይ ያካሄዷቸው የተቃውሞ ሰልፎችና የሕዝብ ምላሽ፣ አፈና እና ስቃዩን ተቋቁሞ ለአመታት የዘለቀው የሙስሊሙ ማኅበረሰብ እንቅስቃሴ፣ ልማትን ሽፋን አድርጎ ሥር እየሰደደ ያለው የኑሮ ዋስትና መታጣትና የከፋ ድህነት፣ በሃያ አመት ውስጥ የተዘራው የዘር ፖለቲካና በአዲሱ ትውልድ አእምሮ ውስጥ ፍሬውን አፍርቶ በሥርዓቱ ላይ ጭምር የዘር ጥላቸቻን ማሳየቱ እና ሌሎችም ውጫዊ ምክንያቶች ተደማምረው ገዢውን ኃይል እንዲፈራና የፈሪ ዱላውንም እንዲያነሳ አስገድደውታል። ዛሬ የወያኔ አመራሮች ሕዝብን ብቻ ሳይሆን የሚፈሩት እራሳቸውንም ጭምር ነው። ድርጅቱ አባላቱን ይፈራል፣ በአወራውና አጃቢ ድርጅቶች መካከል መፈራራት አለ፣ አባላቱ እርስ በርስ ይፈራራሉ፣ አባላቱ መሪዎቻቸውን ይፈራሉ፣ መሪዎች ተከታዮቻቸውን (ተራ ካድሬውን) ይፈራሉ፣ በአመራር ላይ ያሉት ሰዎችም እርስ በርስ ይፈራራሉ። የአንድ ላምስት የስለላ መዋቅር ምንጩም ይህ ነው። አንድ ሥርዓት ጭልጥ ወዳለ አንባገነናዊነት (totalitarianism) ሲገባ ሕዝብን ብቻ ሳይሆን እራሱንም ይፈራል:: በደርግ ዘመንም የሆነው የሄው ነበር:: ለዚህም ነው በእንዲህ ያሉ ሥርዓቶች ውስጥ አባላቱና ደጋፊዎች ከሚሰሩበት ይልቅ እርስ በርስ የሚገማገሙበት ጊዜ ሳይበልጥ አይቀርም የሚባለው። ሕዝብን እና ራስን መፍራት የሽብር መንፈስ ውስጥ ይከታል።

የፖለቲካ ተቀናቃኞችንና የሰላ ትችት የሚሰነዝሩበትን ሁሉ አሸባሪ እያሉ የጥቃት ዒላማ ማድረጉም ዋነኛ አላማው አነሱን ከትግሉ ሜዳ ለማሸሽ ብቻ ሳይሆን የቀረውንም ሕዝብ ለማሸማቀቅና በፍርሃተ ውስጥ ሆኖ ጸጥ ለጥ ብሎ እንዲገዛም ለማድረግ ነው:: ሥርዓቱ የሕዝብ ስላልሆነ ሕዝብን ይፈራል። ለነገሩ ሕዝብን ብቻ ሳይሆን ለጥቅም ሲሉ በዙሪያው የተኮለኮሉትን ሹማምንት፣ አባላቱን እና ‘የአባቴ ቤት ሲዘረፍ አብሬ ልዝረፍ’ በሚል ሕሊና ማጣት ወይም አይን ያወጣ ሌብነት የከበቡትን ‘መሁራን’ና ባለሃበቶች ጭምር ይፈራል:: በመሆኑም የሥርዓቱ ደጋፊዎችና አባላቱ ከሌላው የህብረተሰብ ክፍል በከፋ ሁኔታ የአፈና መዋቀሩ ዋነኛ ሰለቦች ናቸው:: አንድ የወያኔ-ኢህአዴግ አባል የሆነ ሰው በአባልነቱ የተለያዩ ቁሳዊ ጥቅሞችን በብቸኝነት ወይም በቅድሚያ ከሌላው ሰው ተለይቶ የማግኘት እድል ይኖረዋል:: ይሁን እንጂ ይህ እድል በነጻነት ማሰብን፣ ሃሳቡን በነጻነት መግለጽን፣ ያመነበትን የፖለቲካም ሆነ ሌሎች አስተሳሰቦቹን ባደባባይ ማንጸባረቅን ወይም ባመነበት ጉዳይ አቋም የመያዝን፣ በመንግሥት ፖሊሲዎችና አፈጻጸሞች ላይ የሰሉ ትችቶችን የመሰንዘር ባጠቃላይ የፖለቲካና የሲቪል መብቶቹንና ነጻነቶቹን አያጎናጽፈውም:: በዚህ ማዕቀፍ ውስጥ ያሉ ሰዎች የነጻነትን ጣእም አያቁትም።

ጥልቅ በሆነ ፍርሃት ወስጥ ሆኖና ውሉ በማይታወቅ የሸብር ስጋት ተሸብሮ ሕዝብን ማሸበር፣ በጎሣ ፖለቲካ የሰበጣጠሩትን ሕዝብ የቡና ማህበር ድረስ ሥር የሰደደ የአፈና መዋቅር ዘርግቶ በመጠርነፍ የልቡን እንኳን ቡና እየጠጣ እንዳይተነፍስና በሌሎች ማህበራዊ እና ኢኮኖሚያዊ ችግሮቹም እንዳይተዛዘንና እንዳይረዳዳ ማድረግ ሥርዓቱ አገሪቱን እና ሕዝቡን ይዞ ሊገባ እየተንደረደረ ያለበትን ጥልቅ ገደል ያመላከታል:: በቅርቡ የኦሮሚያ ክልል ተማሪዎች ያነሱዋቸው ጥያቄዎች ባህሪያት እና የሥርዓቱ ምላሽ የዚህን አደጋ ቅርበት ጥሩ አድርጎ ያሳያል:: እንግዲህ የሁሉም ሰው ጥያቄ እንዲህ ፈርቶ እያስፈራራ፣ ተሸብሮ እያሸበረ፣ ሕዝብንም አገልጋዮቹንም አፍኖ አገሬውን ሁሉ የቁም እስረኛ፤ ቀሪውንም በየማጎሪያው ካምፑ ከርችሞ እያሰቃየ ያለውን ክፉና በአጉል ቀን የተጣባንን ሥርዓት በምን መላና ዘዴ ለአንዴና ለመጨረሻ ጊዜ ከትከሻችን ላይ አውርደን እንገላገለው የሚል ይመስለኛል:: ለዚህ ጥያቄ መልስ ማግኘት እንዲህ ቀላል ባይሆንም ወደ መልሱ የሚያመሩ መንገዶችን ግን መጠቆም ይቻል ይሆናል::

እኛስ?ሥርዓቱ ዕለት ተዕለት በአገርና በሕዝብ ላይ የሚፈጽማቸውን ወንጀሎችና ደባዎች፤ እንዲሁም የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣዎች እየተከታተሉ በማጋለጥና

ሕዝብ እንዲያውቀው በማደረግ ረገድ የግል ሚዲያውና የሰብአዊ መብት ድርጅቶች ትልቁን ሚና ተጫውተዋል:: ይሁንና ጥረታቸውን የሚያግዝና ሥርዓቱን ሊያርቅ የሚችል ሌላ የተጠናከራና አገራዊ ዕራይ ያነገበ ኃይል ሊፈጠር ወይም ከተፈጠረም በዘላቂነት ሊቆይ ባለመቻሉ የተቆለሉት ወንጀሎችና ጥፋቶች የወያኔን ገጽታ ወደ አስፈሪ ጭራቅነት አግዝፈውታል:: በተቃዋሚ ጎራ ውስጥ ያሉ ቡዙዎቹ የውይይት መድረኮችና ሚዲያዎች ወያኔን ለማዋረድ በማሰብ ብቻ በየቀኑ የሚያዥጎደጉዱት ፕሮፓጋንዳ ብዙዎች ወያኔን የማይደፈር ኃይል አድርገው እንዲያስቡት እስተዋጾ አድርጓል:: ከዚያም በላይ ከጥላቻ ያልዘለለው የአንዳንድ ሚዲያዎች ያላቋረጠ የጸረ-ወያኔ ፕሮፓጋንዳ ተደማምሮ ደርግ አላሸቆት የሄደውን የሕዝብ ወኔና የመንፈስ ጥንካሬ እንዳያገግምና የፖለቲካ ምህዳሩን እንደ ፈንጂ ቀጠና እንዲያየው አድርጎታል:: ወያኔ ባያወቀው ነው እንጂ እነዚህን ሚዲያዎች ለማፈንና ከሕዝብ ዘንድ እንዳይደርሱ ለማድረግ የሚጥረው እነዚህ ሚዲያዎች ባለውለተኞቹ ናቸው:: በግምት 95% በሚሆነው ዘገባቸው የወያኔን ወንጀል የመፈጸም ችሎታ፣ አቅምና የአፈጻጸም ሥልቱን፣ ስለ ተደራጀው የአፈና መዋቀሩ፣ ወደር ስለሌለው ጭካኔው፣ ከሕግ በላይ ሰለመሆኑ እና ያሻውን ቢያደርግ የሚመልሰው አንዳችም ኃይል አለመኖሩን ነው ነጋ ጠባ የሚዘከዝኩት:: ወያኔ እነኚህን መድረኮች ከሚያፍናቸው ይልቅ ሕዝብን የማስፈራራቱን ሥራ እየሰሩለት ስለሆነ በእጅ አዙርም ቢሆን ገንዘብ እየደጎመ ቢያጠናክራቸው አድሜውን ለማራዘም ይረዱታል::

በእነዚህ መድረኮች እያንዳንዱ ኢትዮጵያዊ ስላለው እምቅ ኃይል፣ በሰውነቱ ሰለተጎናጸፋቸው መበቶችና ነጻነቶች፣ ከሌሎች ጋር በጋራ አብሮ ሲቆም ሊፈጥር ስለሚችለው ኃያል ጉልበትና ተአምር፣ ሕዝብ እንዴት የሥልጣን ባለቤትነቱን ማረጋገጥ እንደሚችል፣ የሰላማዊ እመቢተኝነት ኃያልነትን ማወራትና ማሰተማር የተለመደ አይደለም:: ወያኔን ለመታገል በተቃራኒው ተደራጅቶ ሰለቆመውም የፖለቲካ ኃይል ከሚናገሩት ውስጥ አመዛኙ መርዶ ነው:: አንጃ ተፈጠረ፣ ኅብረት ፈረሰ፣ ውህደቱ መከነ፣ እገሌ ከዳ፣ እገሌ የተባለው ፓርቲ ‘እገሌ-ዲ’ የተባላ ደባል አፈራ የሚሉና አዳዲስ ግንባሮችና ውጥኖች መጠንሰሳቸውን ሰምቶ የሚቦርቀው ሰው ላቡን ሳያደርቅ ደም እንባ የሚያስለቅሱ የክሸፈት መርዶዎችን ያበስሩናል:: እንደ እኔ እምነት እነዚህ ሚዲያዎችም ሆኑ የሚዲያዎቹ ተሳታፊዎች የሳቱት ትልቁ ነገር የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ዝምታ የወያኔን ደባና ወንጀል በደንብ ካለማወቅ ነው ከሚል

መነሻ ላይ ሆነው ሥራቸውን መጀመራቸው ይመስለኛል:: ተደበደብክ፣ ታሰርክ፣ ታፈንክ፣ በላይህ ላይ ሞሰኑብህ እያሉ ለተደበዳቢው፣ ለታፋኙ፣ ለታሳሪው፣ ሌት ከቀን የግፍ እንቆቆውን ለሚጋተው ሰው ለራሱ ‘ሰበር’ ዜና እያሉ ማደንቆር ተበዳዩን አያጀግነውም፣ ለትግልም አያነሳሳውም፣ ብርታትም ሊሆነው አይችልም:: የማይካደው ቁምነገር ግን ቢያንስ በደሌን ሕዝብ አውቆልኛል ብሎ አንዲጽናና እና አሱም የሌሎችን በደል እያደመጠ በደልን እንዲላመድ ይረዳው ይሆናል:: ለዛም የምስለኛል ይህ ሁሉ መከራ ቢሚወርድበት አገር ከ90 ሚሊዮን ሕዝብ ውስጥ በሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ ብቻ ለራሳቸውና ለሕዝብ ነጻነትና ከብር ባደባባይ ወጥተው የሚታገሉት:: ለዚህም ይመስለኛል ሃዲዱን የሳተውን የአገሪቱን የፖለቲካ አቅጣጫ ለማስተካከልና መረን የለቀቀውን የወያኔን ባህሪ ለማረቅ ዕዳው በጣት በሚቆጠሩ ግለሰቦችና ደርጅቶች ላይ የተጫነው:: እዚህ ላይ ለማሳሰብ የምወደው ሥርዓቱ የሚፈጽማቸው ወንጀሎችና ጠፋቶች አይነገሩ፣ ሕዝብ እንዳይሸበር ተሸፋፍነው ይቅሩ እያልኩ አይደለም::

ሕዝቡ የሚደርስበትን በደል ጠንቅቆ ሰለሚያወቅ እሱኑ ነጋ ጠባ አያወጡና እያወረዱ ማብጠልጠል መፍትሄ አይሆንም:: ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎች፣ የሲቪክ ማህበራት፣ ጋዜጠኞችም ሆኑ ሌሎች የለውጥ ኃይሎች በሕዝቡ ውስጥ የሰረጸውን ጨለምተኝነት ለመግፈፍና ሕዝቡም የትግሉ አካል እንዲሆን፤ እንዲሁም የአገሬ ጉዳይ ያገባኛል፣ ባለድርሻም ነኝ፣ ኃላፊነትም አለብኝ፣ ለውጥ ለማምጣትም የሚያስችል አቅም አለኝ በሎ ማሰብ እንዲጀምር ሊያስተምሩትና አቅሙን አጉልተው ሊያሳዩት ይገባል:: መልካም ዜጋን የመገንባት ሥራ ላይ ልናተኩር ይገባል:: የአገዛዝ ሥርዓቱን አያገዘፉ ሕዝብን ማኮሰስና ማስፈራራት ወያኔ እንደተፈራ ሌሎች አስርት ዓመታትን እንዲቆይ ይረዳዋል:: ሸነጥ ሲያደርገን በቻ እየተነሳን ሥርዓቱን የገለባ ክምር አድርጎ በማቅለል በስድስት ወር እንንደዋለን፣ የመሪዎቹን ጉሮሮ አንቀን ከምድረ ገጽ እናጠፋለን አያሉ መፎከርና ለአመታት ይህንኑ እየደጋገሙ መማልና መገዘት በጭንቅ ውስጥ ያለውን ሕዝብ በቀቢጸ ተሰፋ እንዲቆይና በአገር ላይ የተጋረጠውንም አደጋ በቅጡ እንዳያይ በማድረግ መዘናጋትን ይፈጥራል እንጂ ግዴታውን እንዲወጣ አያነሳሳውም:: ፉከራና ቀረርቶውም እየተስተዋለ ይሁን::

ኦገስት 31 ቀን 2014 ዓ.ም. ገንቦት 7 የፍትህና የነፃነት የዲሞክራሲ ንቅናቄ ቶሮንቶ በሚገኘው 40 ዶናልድ አዳራሽ ሕዝባዊ ስብሰባ አካሂዷል። በዚህ እለት የክቡር እንግዳ የነበሩት አቶ አንድነት ሃይሉ ሲሆኑ ድርጅታቸውን ወክለው ከሎስ አንጀለስ የተገኙ ነበሩ። በዚህ እለት ጥሪ የተደረገላቸው አባለትና ኢትዮጵያውያን ተሳትፈዋል። በተለይም ከቶሮንቶ አካባቢ የሚኖሩ እንዲሁም ከአሜሪካ ለዚሁ ስብሰባ ረዥም ጉዞ በመጓዝ ተገኝተዋል።

የግንቦት 7 የፍትህ፤ የነፃነትና የዲሞክራሲ ንቅናቄ በቶሮንቶ ህዝባዊ ስብሰባዎችን አካሄዱ

እንደነበሩም ለማወቅ ተችሏል። ኢትዮጵያውያኑ ፋሽስቱ ወያኔን ማስወገድ በሚቻልባቸው የትግል ስልቶች ላይ ሰፊ ውይይት ያተደረገ ሲሆን ኢትዮጵያውያኑ በንቅናቄው የተነደፉትን የትግል ስልቶች በማድነቅ ወደፊትም ወያኔን በመገርሰስ ትግሉን ከዳር ለማድረስ ለሚጠይቃቸው ማንኛውም አይነት መስዋዕትነት ዝግጁ መሆናቸውን አረጋግጠዋል፤

ኢትዮጵያውያኑ በአንድነት እጅ ለእጅ በመያያዝም ትግሉን ከዳር ለማድረስ ቃል ኪዳን መግባታቸው ተዘግቧል። ትግሉን ከዳር ለማድረስ በገንዘብ፤ በሰው ሃይልና በዕውቀት ረገድ ድጋፍ በማድረግ ከንቅናቄው ጎን እንደሚሰለፉ ቃል መግባታቸውንም ተሳታፊዎች ገልጸዋል። በቅርቡ የተሰማው ውህደትን የተመለከተው የብስራት ዜና ተጠናክሮ መቀጠል እንዳለበትና ከሌሎች ድርጅቶች ጋር ተቀራርቦ በጋራ መስራት የሚቻልበት ሁኔታዎች መመቻቸት እንዳለበት ቤቱ አሳስበዋል። በመጨረሻም የነፃነት ትግሉ የደረሰበትን ደረጃ በተመለከተ ሰፊ ማብራሪያ የሰጡት አቶ አንድነት ሃይሉ አሁን ወሳኝ የትግል ምዕራፍ ላይ ደርሰናልና ሁሉም አገር ወዳድ ኢትዮጵያዊ ሁሉ በአንድነት ልንረባረብ ይገባል በማለት ኑ! ኢትዮጵያ አገራችንን፣ ኢትዮጵያዊ ወገናችንን እና ራሳችን ነፃ ለማውጣት እና በሀገራችን ፍትህና ዲሞክራሲ እንዲሰፍን ለማድረግ በምናደርገው ትግል ተቀላቀሉን ሲሉ ጥሪ አቅርበዋል።

በተጨማሪም በአገር ውስጥና በውጭ አገር ለሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያውያን ወጣቶች፤ እና ለኢትዮጵያ የመከላከያ ሠራዊት አባላት የወያኔን አገዛዝ ለማስወገድ እየተደረገ ያለውን የሞት ሽረት ትግል እንዲቀላቀሉ ጥሪ መቅረቡንም ለማወቅ ተችሏል። በመጨረሻም የአቶ አንዳርጋቸው ምስል ለጨረታ ቀርቦ ከፈተኛ ውድድር ተደርጎ ከአሜሪካ የመጡ ጨረታውን አሽንፈው በእጃቸው አስግብተዋል። ለአንቺ ነ ኢትዮጵያ የምለውን መዝሙር ከተዘመረ በኋላ ስብሰባው ተፈጽሟል።

ቅዳሜ ሴፕቴምበር 7 ቀን 2014 ዓ.ም. ሞረሽ ወገኔ የአማራው ድርጅት በቶርንቶ በ40 ዶናልድ አዳርሽ ስብሰባ አካሄደ። በዚህ ዕለት የክብር እንግዳ የነበሩት በካናዳ የሥራ ጉብኝት ለማድረግ የመጡት አቶ ተክሌ ይሻው የሞረሽ ወገና የአማራው ድርጅት ሊቀ መነር ነበሩ። የመድረኩን ከፋች አቶ ተክሌን ካስተዋወቁ በኋላ ወደ መድረኩ ጋብዟቸው። ምንም እንኳን የተሰበሰበው ኢትዮጵያዊ አዳራሹን ባይሞላና መጥነኛ ቢሆንም አቶ ተክሌ ግብዣቸውን ተቀብለው ወደ መድረኩ ሀዱ።

እርሳቸውን ንግግራቸውን ከመጀመራቸው በፊት ለዚህ ዝግጅት ላዘጋጁትና ይህን ጥሪ ተቀብለው የመጡትን ሁሉ አምሰግነዋል። በመቀጠልም ንግግራቸውን የጀመሩት ከኢትዮጵያ አገራችን ታሪክ በመነሳት ነበር። ይኸውም ኢትዮጵያ እንዴት ታወቀች? ለሚለው ሰፋ ያለ ታሪካዊ አመጣጥዋን የኢትዮጵያ ነገዶችና ጂኦ ፖለቲክስ በሰፊው በመተንተን ለቤቱ ዘክረዋል። ኢትዮጵያንም የውሃ ማማ ነች በማለት አድንቅዋል። አቀማመጧንና ባህሪዋን ደረጃ በደርጃ አስረድተዋል። የራሱን ቋንቋ ያከበረ ሌላውም ያከብረዋል ስለሆነም የግዕዝና የአማርኛ ቋንቋዎች መሠረታዊ አመጣጣቸውን ልዩነታቸውን በዝርዝር ዘክረዋል፣ አሁንም የራስችን ቋንቋ ከነጽህፈቱ መኖሩ በጣም ያኮራናል ብለዋል።

በመቀጠልም ወያኔ በአማራው ነገድ ላይ የሚያደርገው መሰሪ ሥራና ማፈናቀል መግደልን በከፍተኛ ድርጃ ተቃውመዋል።

ጎሰኛው የወያኔ አገዛዝ የአማራ ወጣት እሴቶች የማምከን ዘመቻ በተመለከተ የዐማራ ወጣቶች የጋራ ንቅናቄ ይፋ የደረገውን ቪዲዮ በኢሳት በይፋ ተዝግቧል። እንደተለመደው ለአንድ ሳምንት ሆይ ሆይ ተብሎ ይረሳል! እና ይህ እስከመቼ እንዲህ ይቀጥላል? በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ በአማራ ነገድ ላይ እየተቃጣ ያለው አደጋ እኛ ከምንገምተው በላይ ነው። በመሆኑም ይህን እኩይ መሰሪ ተግባራቸውን ለማሳካት የዓማራ ገበሬዎችን ማፈናቀል፣ እሴቶቹን ማምከንና ሆን ተብሎ በደላላ

*በዘመነ የትግሬ ወያኔ ዘረኛ አገዛዝ በአውራ ጠላትነት ተፈርጆ የዘር ማጽዳትንና ዘር ማጥፋት ወንጀል እየተፈፀመበት ለአለው የዐማራ ነገድ ድምፅ ሆኖ ማገልገል።

*የአማራው ነገድ በኢትዮጵያ ፖለቲካዊ ፣ ኢኮኖሚያውና ማህበራዊ ሕይወት ውስጥ ተገቢ ቦታውን እንዲይዝ ሁለንተናዊ አቁሙን ማጎልበት።

የሞረሽ ወገኔ የዐማራ ድርጅት ግብ ምንድን ነው? ለሚለው፦ * በዐማራው ላይ የተከፈተውን የዘር ማጽዳት የዘር ማጥፋት ዘመቻ ፈጽሞ ማቆም። * የአማራው አንድነት ሁለንታዊ መግለጫ የሆኑ የወል እሴቶችን ከጥፋት መከልከል፣ በወያኔ አገዛዝ እንዳይጠፋ * የተነገሩትን ወደ ነበሩበት መመለስና ማዳበር። * የኢትዮጵያ የግዛት አንድነት፣ ብሄራዊ ጥቅምና ለህዝቡ ሉዐላዊነት፣ ሰላም እኩልነት፣ ፍትህን የሚያረጋግጥ የምላተ ሕዝቡን ፈቃድ ያገኘ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሥርዓት ለመገንባት ከሚታገሉ ኢትዮጵያዊ ሃይሎች ጎን በመሰለፍ የበኩሉን ድርሻ ማበርከት። * የወያነ ዘረኛ አገዛዝ በአገሪቱ ብሔራዊ ጥቅም፣ የግዛት አንድነት፣ በሕዝቡ መብትና ነፃነት ላይ ያደረሰውን አገራዊ ክህደትና የፈፀመውን ወንጀል ለዓለም ህብረተስብ ማጋለጥ፣ አገዛዙ በሕዝባዊ አመፅ እንዲወገድ የሕዝባዊ እምቢተኝነት ስሜት በሕዝቡ ወስጥ ማስረጽ፣ ሕዝቡ የእኔ የሚለው የሚለው ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሥርዓት እንዲመሠረት መታገል። * በዐማራው ነገድ ላይ የዘር ማጽዳትና የዘር ማጽዳትና የዘር ማጥፋት ወንጀል የፈጸሙ ቡድኖችንና ግለሰቦችን ለፍትሕ ማቅረብ የሚሉ ናቸው።

በጉባዔው ላይ እንደሚካፈሉ ቀድሞ የተነገረላቸው የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚንስትር ቴዎድሮስ አድህኖም ከጉባዔው ምክክር መድረክ ላይ ሳይሳተፉ መቅረታቸውን ለመረዳት ተችሏል። በሚኒስትሩ ፋንታ የፌደሬሽኑ ምክር ቤት አፈ ጉባዔ አቶ ካሣ ተክለብርሃን የኢትዮጵያን ልኡካን ቡድን በመምራት በልዩ ጉባዔ እየታደሙ እንደሚገኙ ታውቋል።

በኢትዮጵያ እየተባባሰ ለመጣው ኢ-ሰበአዊ ድርጊትና አፈና ቅሬታ የተሰማቸው ኢትዮጵያውያን፣ ባልሥልጣናቱ በአረፉበት ሆቴል በመገኘት ቁጣቸውን ሲያሰሙ ቆይተዋል። ይኸውም እናንተ ነፍሰ ገዳዮች ናችሁ እዚህ መምጣት አይግባችሁም! ጨፍጫፊዎች ናችሁ! ሌላም ሌላም… በሚል የቁጣ ስሜታቸውን ለባለሥልጣኖቹ ሲያሰሙ ታይተዋል። እንዲሁም

እንደገና ወደ መድረኩ ስንቀርብ የተለያዩ ሙዚቃዎች ውዝዋዜዎች፣ በተለይ የአገር ባህል ዘፈነኖች ቀርበዋል። ወጣቶችን በተለያዩ ብሔረሰብ ውዝዋዜ የተካኑትን በሃገራዊ ሙዚቃና ዲጄ ታጅበው በብዙ ሺህ ሕዝብ በፓርኩ ለተሰበሰበ አሳይተዋል። አድናቆትም አግኝተዋል። ወጣቱ፣ ልጆችና ጎልማሳውም እስክታውን እንዲሁም አዛውንቱ በመቀመጫው ላይ እንዲወዛወዝን እንዲደሰት አድርገዋል። እጅግ የሚደነቁና አስደሳች ነው በማለት አስተያየታቸውን አንድ ተመልካች ሃሳባቸውን ለግሰዋል። ዘመናዊ ዘፍኖች በአማርኛና በተለያዩ የብሔረ ስብ በእንግሊዘኛም ቀርበው ነበር። ከአምናው ለየት የሚያደርገው የተለያዩ ብሄረሰቦች ውዝዋዜ ድምፃዊ ዘፋኞችም ወደ መድረኩ በመምጣት ሕዝቡን አስደስተዋል። የተሰበስበው ሕዝብ ከመብዛቱ የኢትዮጵያ ድምፅ በሚሰማበት ጊዜ በመጮህ ያን ያህል ደስታውና ጭፈራው ኢትዮጵያዊቱን አስመስክሯል። አንድም ኳ ሳይል በሰላም ዝግጅቱ አብቅቷል።አንድነቱን አስመስክሯል። ስለሆነ ከዚህ ሁኔታ በመነሳት ለሚመጣው 17ኛው የኢትዮጵያ ቀንና እንዲሁም በ2008 ኢትዮጵያ አዲሱ አመት አከባበር ሁለት ቀን ቢሆን መልካም ነው በማለት አንድ ግለሰብ አስተያይታቸውን ለግሰዋል፣ በመጨረሻም በዓሉ በሰላም በደስታ ተፈጽሟል;

እንግዲህ ያረጀ የአመፅ ታሪክ ከመድገም፤ ከውጭ አገር መፍትሔ ከመኮረጅና፤ እልከኛና አንገተ ደንዳና ሆነን ለአዲሱ ጤናማ ኢትዮጵያዊነት አስተሳሰብ የማንመች ከመሆን ይጠብቀን። በአይነቱ ኢትዮጵያዊ የሆነውንና የኛው በኛው ለኛው ሆኖ የሚያኮራንን አዲስ የእርቅና የመግባባት ስሌትን መፍጠር እንችላለን የሚል አስተሳሰብ ይኑረን። እንቆቅልሻችንን እንፍታና የአገር ልጅነት ግዴታችንን በታማኝነት እንወጣ። በተቃራኒ የፖለቲካ አስተሳሰብ የተከፋፈልን ህዝብ ብንሆንም፦ ጥላቻና ንቀትን አስወግደን፤ ሁለቱም ጎራ (መንግስትና ተቃዋሚ) በጡንቻ መጠቀምን እንደ ኋላቀርነት ለመቁጠር የሚያስችል ብስለትና ድፍረት ይታይብን። በብዙ የተለያየ ባህልና ቋንቋ የበለፀግን ህዝብ ነን። የምንከባበርበትና በእኩልነት የምንተያይባት አዲሲቷን ኢትዮጵያ በልዩነታችን እንደ አንድ ቤተሰብ በመሆን ለመገንባት እንድንችል ትህትናና ፍቅር ይብዛልን። በእርቅና

በመግባባት ጥበብ ፈውስን ለምድራችን ማምጣት እንችላለን የሚል አመለካከት ምርጫችን ይሁን። ከልብ ተሳስረን እውነተኛውን ማንነታችንን እንድናውቅና እንድንለማመድ በአዲስ መንፈስ ዛሬ እንነሳ። የተለያየ ሀይማኖት የምንከተል ህዝብ ብንሆንም አንዳችን የሌላኛውን ሀይማኖት የምናከብር ህዝብ ነን። ከዚህም ባለፈ መልኩ ሁላችንም የሁላችንም የሆነችውን ኢትዮጵያን ፈጣሪ እንዲባርካት የዘወትር ፀሎታችን ይሁንልን። የኢትዮጵያም አምላክ ተአምር ሊያሳየን ይቻለዋል የሚል ግንዛቤ ያቀራርበናል ደግሞም ተስፋችንን ያለመልማል። በፊታችን ያለውን የአዲስ ዓመት ጉዞ በቀና አስተሳሰብ እንጀምር። ይቻላል እንበል። ዋጋ ያስከፍላል እንጂ የማይቻል ነገር የለምና። ወደ ልባችን እንመለስና በይቅርታ ሌላውን ለመድረስ እንዘርጋ። አስተዋዩና ታጋሹ ፍቅር በምድራችን እንዲያሸንፍ እንፍቀድለት! እባክዎን ስለ እርቅ የተዘጋጀውን ባለ አምስት ነጥብ ብቻ የዳሰሳ ጥናት ወደዚህ ድህረ ገፅ በመሄድ ይሳተፉ።

ወቅቱ የሚጠይቀውና አገራችንና ሕዝባችን ያሉበትን ደረጃ በአንክሮ የተረዳ አገርና ሕዝቡን አፍቃሪ የሆነ ድርጅትም ሆነ ቡድን ቆም ብሎ ሊያስብ የሚገባበት ደረጃ ላይ መድረሳችንን የሚያሳይ ነው።

በመሆኑም ኢትዮጵያንና ሕዝቧን ካሉበት አዘቅት በማውጣት ሕዝቡ የስልጣን ባለቤት የሚሆንበትን ሁኔታ ለማመቻቸት የጋራ ትግልና መስዋዕትነት የግድ የሚለን ደረጃ ላይ መድረሳንን፤ የወያኔን ቡድን በሁለገብ ትግል እየተፋለምን ያለን ድርጅቶች ተጣምሮና አንድ ሆኖ መታገል እንዳለብን ካመንን ዓመታት አስቆጥረናል።

በአሁኑ ወቅት ከላይ የጠቀስናቸው ሂደቶች ምላሽ አግኝተው አገራችንና ሕዝባችንን ከአዘቅት ለማውጣት በመጣመር ብቻ ሳይሆን በውህደት አንድ ሆነን አገራችንንና ሕዝባችንን አንድ በማድረጉ ረገድ አስፈላጊው

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement to announce the discovery of one of the ships belonging to the ill-fated Franklin Expedition which was lost in 1846:

“I am delighted to announce that this year’s Victoria Strait Expedition has solved one of Canada’s greatest mysteries, with the discovery of one of the two ships belonging to the Franklin Expedition lost in 1846.

“Although we do not know yet whether the discovery is Her Majesty’s Ship (HMS) Erebus or HMS Terror, we do have enough information to confirm its authenticity. This find was confirmed on Sunday, September 7, 2014, using a remotely operated underwater vehicle recently acquired by Parks Canada.

“This is truly a historic moment for Canada. Franklin’s ships are an important part of Canadian history given that his expeditions, which took place nearly 200 years ago, laid the foundations of Canada’s Arctic sovereignty.

Mayor Rob Ford diagnosed with rare cancer

TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford has cancer.

Dr. Zane Cohen revealed the grim diagnosis on Wednesday at Mount Sinai hospital.

Ford has been in hospital for a week after doctors discovered a tumour in his abdomen.

Cohen said the tumour is a malignant liposarcoma and that Ford’s initial treatment will involve chemotherapy.

The sudden health scare led to Ford dropping out of the mayor’s race last Friday and instead signing up to run for city council in his old ward. Councillor Doug Ford, his brother and campaign manager, is now running for mayor in his place.

“It’s a tough day,” Doug Ford said as he arrived at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon before the news was made public.

Ford’s wife Renata, his mother Diane and his other brother Randy Ford also were at the hospital on Wednesday.

“We have a lot of faith in the doctors and

we have a lot of faith in God,” Renata Ford told reporters on her way to see her husband.

The medical update on Rob Ford’s health led to the postponing of Wednesday night’s mayoral candidates’ debate.

“Out of respect for Mayor Ford and his family, REALpac and the NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter, in consultation with the campaign offices of Olivia Chow and John Tory, jointly decided to postpone tonight’s debate,” stated the Real Property Association of Canada.

Earlier in the day, mayoral candidate Olivia Chow hoped Ford didn’t have cancer.

Mayoral candidate John Tory said a pause in the campaign was the “appropriate thing to do.”

“I think it is a time to make sure that all of our thoughts and positive energy and sentiments are with the Ford family,” Tory said.

“For today our thoughts are with the mayor and with his family and we will resume the campaign at an appropriate time in full.”

Prime minister of Canada tribute to all partners involved in this year’s momentous Victoria Strait Expedition, including Parks Canada, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS), the Arctic Research Foundation (ARF), the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), the Royal Canadian Navy and the Government of Nunavut. This discovery would not have been possible without their tireless efforts over the years, as well as their commitment, dedication and the perseverance of the many partners and explorers involved.

“Our Government has been deeply committed to finding HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, which were Canada’s only undiscovered national historical site. Since 2008, there have been six major Parks Canada-led searches for the lost Franklin Expedition ships, pain-stakingly covering many hundreds of square kilometres of the Arctic seabed. It is gratifying that the ship’s remains were found during the Government-supported 2014 Victoria Strait Expedition.

“Finding the first vessel will no doubt provide the momentum – or wind in our sails – necessary to locate its sister ship and find out even more about what happened to the Franklin Expedition’s crew.”

We Need to Make Better Use of Ex-Prime MinistersHard to believe Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is still Canada's Head of State. It's almost comical that we, as a Canadian society, allow ourselves to be represented by a governor general that is a representative of the Queen of England. It's tragic that we pay particular attention to these representatives once they leave office as if what they did was more significant than our prime ministers.

Canadian Prime Ministers deserve our respect and support at least as much as an overseas monarchy or their representatives.

Let us focus on former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, for instance. By the time she vacated the position she held, the Canadian

government had announced a foundation in her name with an allocated stable budget in the millions. The crown-in-council decision called for the organization to advocate for culture and education and "creativity among youth from rural, northern, and/or poor communities in Canada."

How about former Canadian prime ministers? How come there is no foundation named for Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney, John Turner, Kim Campbell, Jean Chretien or Paul Martin from the federal government? Are they less important than a symbolic former governor general?

I once had a private audience with Prime Minister Joe Clark as I was in the process of successfully nominating one of his old classmates from Dalhousie Law School, Bruce Alexander, for an honorary degree from Queen's University. I was an admirer of the former prime minister having grown up in a country (Ethiopia) that he was instrumental in helping during the infamous famine of 1984. Mr. Clark was foreign minister for the Mulroney government during this time. He was also the first foreign minister from the western world to visit Ethiopia. I can still picture him visibly upset when shown images of Ethiopia famine victims by CBC's Brian Stewart while he was at Bole International

Airport.

From advocating for the end of apartheid in South Africa to making Canada a welcoming nation for refugees from Guatemala, El Salvador, and many other nations around the world, Mr. Clark commands a great deal of respect around the globe. His voice is still needed and yet it's not being used enough -- either at home or abroad. Mr. Clark can speak with a rare authority when he speaks on international affairs.

The TPLF leaders expected that the extradition and arrest of the freedom fighter and equality advocate Ato Andargachew Tsege (chairperson of Ginbot 7 movement) would frustrate and divide the Ethiopians. On contrary it made the Ethiopians to join hands and form unity in order to remove TPLF from power once and for all.

In general the year 2006 could be termed easily a devastating period for TPLF. The party has humiliated itself in and outside the country. I was attending a Preston Manning Centre event and both of us were in the Chateau Laurier Hotel. Whether one supported the policies of the Mulroney years or not, he was seen as an honourable man in the world.

As an Ethiopian, I take to heart his action on Ethiopia's famine in 1984. Stephen Lewis, then Canada's UN ambassador, remembers when he received an early phone call from an emotional Mulroney asking how he, as prime minister, could help after watching a Brian Stewart report from Ethiopia. Like thousands of other Canadians, Mr. Mulroney had watched destitute people dying before his eyes on his television screen and he wanted to help.

He asked Lewis what the world was doing to help. When Lewis replied there was nothing yet planned, the prime minister sprang into action. Mr. Mulroney, with the help of his able UN representative, sparked a response that was "nothing less than a Herculean effort on the part of all member nations," Mr. Lewis is quoted as saying. Millions of lives were saved and for Stephen Lewis, "Mulroney knew more about and cared more for Africa than any Canadian leader before or since." What a missed opportunity it has been for Canada not to have used him in the renaissance of Africa (which China is taking advantage of) while Canada plays catch up.

Jean Chretien also made an impression to the world via The Mine Ban Treaty (1997). So did John Turner, Paul Martin, Kim Campbell and Stephen Harper.

American Presidents are afforded a private office and staff once they leave office, to help them advocate for a cause and launch a foundation of some sort. Given this, most presidents have become official ambassadors in the world while promoting American values. Bill Clinton has focused on women's health; George W. Bush has advocated for people living with HIV/AIDS in Africa; Jimmy Carter has focused on human rights and democracy.

Are we in Canada using our former prime ministers for good in the world? Are we using them to advocate for basic Canadian values here at home and abroad? No, we are not. Are we, as a nation, too poor to give them a foundation to help them launch a Canadian voice in the world? No, we are not. Why focus on the monarchy from abroad when we can be original with our own leaders and use them to make the world ideally be like Canada?

It's time for Canada to step up and recognize our own former Canadian leaders and use their expertise, both in Canada and around the world. It's the right thing to do for them - it's also the right thing to do for the world.

Ethiopians and members of the Church celebrated the new Millennium (2000) in 2007 so according to the Ethiopian calendar, this year (2014) is 2007. Ethiopians use the calendar of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, which reportedly did not change “when the rest of Christendom revised its estimate of the date of the birth of Christ” in the 16th century. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church was administratively part of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria until July 13, 1948. On that date, the Coptic Church of Alexandria and the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church reached an agreement. In 1950, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church was granted “autocephaly” (self-government/independence) by Pope Joseph II of Alexandria, head of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Five bishops were consecrated by the Coptic Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa, empowered to elect a new Patriarch for their church and the successor to the last Coptic Bishop/Abuna Qerellos IV, who would have the power to consecrate new bishops. This process was completed on January 14, 1951 when the Coptic Orthodox Pope, Joseph II, consecrated the first Ethiopian Archbishop, 60-year-old Abuna Basilios (born Gebre Giyorgis Wolde Tsadik on April 23, 189). “Enkutatash” is the Ethiopian New Year and means “gift of jewels” in the Amharic language, which is the main Ethiopian language. The celebration of “Enkutatash” is both religious and secular. The word comes from an event that happened approximately 3,000 years ago when the Queen of Sheba of ancient Ethiopia returned home after visiting King Solomon of Israel in Jerusalem. The visit is chronicled in the Bible in I Kings, Chapter 10 and II Chronicles, Chapter 9. There are several versions of the Bible, including the “English Standard Version” where the visit is described: “She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones.” Another version of the Bible, “The New Living Translation”, further describes the gifts: “Then she gave the king a gift of 9,000 pounds of gold, great quantities of spices and precious jewels. Never again were so many spices brought in as those the Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.” Whatever version of the Bible is read, the visit of the Queen of Sheba to Jerusalem describes that she gifted Solomon enormous amounts of gold, spices and precious stone; so much that it is noteworthy that such an amount had not been seen before or after her visit. When the Queen returned to Ethiopia, her chiefs welcomed her with “enku”, or jewels, to replenish her treasury. Ethiopia has captured the imagination of Africans in the Diaspora in various ways. The country is one of two African nations mentioned in the Bible. Since enslaved Africans were coerced into abandoning their indigenous beliefs and were “Christianized” by their enslavers, the Bible became an important part of their acculturation. The mention of an African nation in this very important book probably brought some sense of pride (definitely hidden) to a people who were brutalized daily by their enslavers. Ethiopia also captured the imagination of Africans worldwide when the Ethiopian army defeated the covetous Italians at the battle of Adwa in 1896. This historic battle raged at the height of the European “Scramble for Africa” when White men and women were stampeding through the African continent, greedily grabbing and exploiting the land and the Africans. From November 15, 1884 to February 26, 1885, a group of White men representing 14 nations made decisions that continue to affect the lives of Africans into the 21st century. These men sat around a table and carved up the African

It is also seen as an investment for all Canadians who will count on “our people to act with integrity”.“It’s not enough just to prepare your people for their mission. It’s also our duty to care for them and for their families. These men and women have chosen to put country before self quite fundamentally and have accepted at the time very real risks on behalf of their fellow Canadians. That’s why we strive to provide them with really comprehensive services such as physical and mental health care, emergency child care and family programming and very special benefits for those who have become injured as a result of their duty in the service,” the top military personnel said. National Defence is the largest federal department in Canada both in terms of budget and people. It includes 92,000 full time employees. 67,000 of those are in uniform every day. There are 24,000 public servants in Ottawa and spread out across the nation. Part-time reservists in the military number 28,000 and 5,000 rangers spread across dozens of communities. “Our military in the north are quite woven into the fabric of this nation. Their involvement include being alert in the high arctic,” Lawson said. While the Armed Forces help keep Canada safe for Canadians, the General stressed its number one priority will always be the defence of Canadians on home turf. But because Canada is an international player, it has rarely been an isolationist nation. Acknowledging that more and more many Canadians were not born in this nation Canada has family and friends abroad. “We vacation, we do business in other countries as this is an inter-connected world,” he observed. In view of the fact that events everywhere could very quickly impact our security here at home, General Lawson emphasized that the Canadian Armed Forces have a role to play in defending North America certainly but also in contributing to international peace and security. “We do it in providing humanitarian assistance but we also help train and build the capacity of nations; help in operations against terrorists, countering narcotic organizations and ultimately and only where necessary combat operations,” Lawson continued

continent on paper, parcelling off portions among themselves. There were no African voices or African presence at these meetings. Such was the arrogance of these White men whose ancestors had already caused untold damage to the African continent for more than 400 years through the slave trade. After carving up the continent on paper, these people set about colonizing the continent by force, murdering, torturing, imprisoning and/or exiling any African who resisted, including the royal family of the Ashanti of Ghana. Ethiopia was the beacon of hope that all was not lost since it remained the sole African nation to have escaped the ravening White men and women from Europe. In the 2005 book, The Battle of Adwa: Reflections on Ethiopia’s Historic Victory against European Colonialism, White American professor of political science and international studies, Theodore M. Vestal, writes: “In 1896, Italy, a latecomer to the family of nations and a slow-footed scrambler for colonial spoils in Africa, made her move to conquer Ethiopia, the only remaining prize on the continent unclaimed by Europeans. Expansionist leaders of the recently unified Kingdom of Italy dreamed of a second Roman Empire, stretching from the Alps to the Equator, and it was assumed that a show of military would quickly bring ‘barbarian’ lands and riches into an African Orientale Italiana. The Italian dream was turned into a nightmare, however, in the mountain passes and valleys near the northern Ethiopian city of Adwa by the knockout punch by the mailed fist by a unified Greater Ethiopia. The Italians retreated, humiliated.” Writing about “The Significance of Adwa”, Ethiopian professor of International Studies at Morgan State University and co-editor of The Battle of Adwa, Dr. Getachew Metaferia, explains: “The battle of Adwa sent two messages, one to the European colonialists and the second to Africans on the continent and in the diaspora. To the European colonialists, it signalled that Africans could effectively challenge their power. To Africans on the continent and in the diaspora, it conveyed a message of hope that subjugation, be it in the form of colonialism, slavery, or other forms of social, political and economic exploitation, can be overcome through effective organization, consensus-building leadership, and concerted effort.” On the back cover of The Battle of Adwa, a description sums up the importance of this battle and helps to explain why my grandparents had large framed photographs of the Ethiopian royal family displayed in their living room 100 years after the battle of Adwa: “In the 19th-century ‘Scramble for Africa,’ when the Europeans carved up an entire continent for exploitation, Africans won a solitary, shocking, glorious victory at Adwa (Ethiopia). The most celebrated military operation involving the Africans and the Europeans since the time of Hannibal, this emblematic victory still resounds in the minds of Africans and the African diaspora as promise of potential and an illustration of the dictum, ‘strength in unity.’ For the victors it was decisive; for the vanquished, catastrophic. The Italian colonialist soldiers were crushed. Their casualty figure was 70 per cent; all their artillery pieces were captured, one out of four of their generals was taken prisoner and two of the remaining as well as almost half of their staff officers were killed on the battlefield. The Ethiopian victory at the Battle of Adwa has remained a very important event in the shared recollection of the entire African people. It is the only secular episode in the whole history of Africa that has been celebrated for more than a century with unabated popular enthusiasm.” Ethiopia, as the sole African country to defeat a European colonizing army, caused such shock and trauma to the European White supremacist psyche that some news reports tried to make the Ethiopians White. Writing of this “about face”, White American professor, Harold Golden Marcus, commented: “Now, Europeans had to rationalize Menelik’s victory, and they turned inevitably to the alternate discourse without

abandoning notions of racism, since such an admission would conflict with the teleology of modern European imperialism. Instead they characterized Ethiopians as White, and they found several convenient observations upon which to build a new Ethiopian typology.” The history of Ethiopia as the proven cradle of the human race has also captured the imagination in more modern times. Although some of his writing about Ethiopia is not very flattering, in his 2002 book Ethiopia, the Unknown Land: A Cultural and Historical Guide, White British author, Stuart Christopher Munro-Hay, conceded that: “Ethiopia can claim to be the cradle of the human race, after the discovery at several sites there of the earliest hominid remains yet to be revealed by archaeology.” In 1974, the more than three-million-year-old skeleton of Dinqinesh (Lucy) was found at Hadar, nearly 200 miles northeast of Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. In 1996, about five miles from where the skeleton of Dinqinesh was found, the earliest known stone tools were found (approximately 2.5 million years old). The Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, considered the father of the modern Pan-African Movement and a prophet of Rastafari, is said to have prophesied the crowning of Emperor Haile Selassie I and given rise to Rastafari. In The Rastafarians, published in 1988, African Jamaican historian, Leonard E. Where, I asked, could we find Fikru? “He’s in town,” said Aman. We were speeding past Meskel Square in his black subcompact, cutting between the mule carts, charcoal sellers, and groups of beggars. I figured we were heading straight to Fikru’s office for an interview, but Aman pulled into the muddy parking lot of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Agriculture, a six-story concrete relic of the country’s sixteen years of communist rule, which ended in 1991. We walked up the ministry’s marble stairs to the fourth floor, home of the Agricultural Investment Support Directorate. Aman had made an appointment to discuss Sheikh Al Amoudi with the bureau’s director, Esayas Kebede, but after announcing our presence in Amharic he reported back in English that unfortunately Esayas Kebede was in a meeting somewhere else.As we waited, I read a pamphlet, Ethiopia:

The Gifted Land of Agricultural Investment. The government owns all the land in Ethiopia. They cannot sell it, but they can lease as much of it as they want. By leasing to the Sheikh, the directorate had given Al Amoudi’s food grab the federal stamp of approval. Though the terms of the deal have never been released, the annual price per hectare has been estimated at no more than seven dollars. In Zambia, by comparison, the average hectare leases for about $1,250 a year.The sun was low in the sky when Esayas arrived, and without looking up from his BlackBerry he led us into a small conference room. I wanted to ask him why the bureau had given the Sheikh preferential treatment, figuring he would reveal a few things I could use when I talked to Fikru. But before I could begin, Esayas launched into a speech. Agriculture accounted for 42 percent of Ethiopia’s GDP, he said. More than four out of five people work the land, and Ethiopia’s Growth and Transformation Plan, introduced in 2009, had laid out a five-year strategy for the country’s farmers.

I have been a resident of Toronto since 1978. In the 1970s, a “Visible Minority” group was in fact, "invisible." However, over the past thirty-six years, I have been witnessing an interesting socio-cultural change in Toronto. The arrival of many newcomers from Africa, Asia, Caribbean, and South America, made our City became home for more “Visible” ethno-cultural community members. By the early 1980s, traditionally non- European/non-white immigrants were becoming more "visible." Thus, concepts such as “Multi-culturalism”, "Visible Minorities”, and recently, “Diversity” have been on the socio-political radar.

Many of my contemporaries were very instrumental in working with our diverse and different institutions and agencies to understand, accept, respect, and promote such "visibilities." The City of Toronto uniquely reflects the presence of different peoples from diverse and different backgrounds. Yet, its perception and practical presentation of itself as the city of diverse peoples has been continually challenged, to include the concept of Inclusivity/Inclusion in its policies and practices. It seems that, many of us define ‘diversity’ differently. That includes new arrivals of political refugees from my country of origin, Ethiopia (Africa), since the late 1970s. Those days, there were very few of us residing in different corridors of the city. Now, we find that there are many workplaces whereby the majority of frontline employees or students are from non-European ancestry. Yet, many of them are unable to be supervised, taught, or managed by personnel who share similar ancestral, racial, gender, sexual, and cultural orientations that are reflective of their backgrounds.

I have a personal, professional, and even an emotional affiliation to this city. I believe in the progressive, activist, and welcoming mindset of our city. Most of us have been, and will continue to be, the causes and effects of promoting and pushing for equity issues such as: anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, religious freedoms, the rights of First Nations Peoples, addressing diverse forms of [dis]-abilities and accommodating persons with [dis]-abilities, employment equity, affirmative action, and Human Rights. We have to work together with different public and non-public institutions for an equitable approach to accommodate diverse/different peoples. It is about time to apply the testing mechanism, which I call Inclusivity. We

cannot leave the concept of diversity, without letting diverse socio-economic and political systems acknowledge the fact that we are also different, and not just ‘diverse’.

While diverse job applicants with Canadian work experience have become more "visible", the modus operandi of excluding diverse groups has become increasingly systemic. For example, the number of years of work experience, even when considering applicants with very high professional backgrounds, was assessed alongside language levels and other categories of qualification that seemed outside the regular scope of job suitability.In such a highly multi-cultural and multi-racial city as Toronto, we need to revisit what we mean by “qualification.” That is where the practical meaning of “Affirmative Action and Employment Equity” policies supposed to be practiced.

Our community members from the African, Asian, and the First Nations/Indigenous Peoples ancestral backgrounds, and particularly those from a working-class background, are still largely “invisible” in most of our city’s public and non-public areas of decision-making. Through my exposures to different workplaces, as Social Worker and Advisor on issues related to Human Rights & Equity programs, I have been working very hard to help to decipher and demystify certain hidden messages about “diversity.”

I advocate for establishing creative forms of coalition-building. Such coalitions help positively challenge the institutional rules and regulations reflect the intended welcome to different peoples from diverse backgrounds. Our institutional messages, relative to “diversity” policies and practices, must be current and ongoing reflective of an equitable representation of just how diverse our population is. How can we make the environment more inclusive? Though I support concepts and phrases such as “diversity” and “multiculturalism,” we need to stop dancing around the words. It is about time that we start seeing each other eye-to-eye, with what I call an “Inclusivity Lens.”

We are living in a city called Toronto, a First Nations/Indigenous term for “The Meeting Place.” With its positive and progressive past, the City of Toronto can facilitate the practical meaning of ‘The Meeting Place” by practicing

what it has been preaching for a long time.What is Inclusivity, and How Do We Practice It?We need to believe that it is possible to meet eye-to-eye with different persons of diverse backgrounds in Toronto. There are communities with multi-linguistic, ethno-cultural, ethno-national, and multi-racial backgrounds, representing the over-190 United Nations member countries.

We need to work together. We need to look forward and expand on how we can continue to inclusively accommodate differences and diverse backgrounds.

As a well-informed resident, I would like to suggest and advise the mayoral candidates as well as members of the City Council to revisit their positions on current and past practices on important social issues. In such a global city, the local and global populations would like to hear their personal and political positions in addressing: Anti- Racism/ Race & Ethnic Relations Education; Affirmative Actions and Employment Equity Policies & Programs; Sexual Harassment & Gender Equity; Positive Space and welcoming programs for the LGBQT Community Members; Visible Programs for community members representing the First Nations and Indigenous Peoples of Canada; Visible Programs to welcome and accommodate Persons with [dis]-abilities; Challenging the practice of what is called “Anti-Black Racism”; Providing accountable and contemporary Social Service Programs; Providing a safe environment to file Human Rights complaints; and Promoting the practice of human rights and equity.

We know that it has been a long time since various decrees were made to end legal practices of discrimination and exclusion of different peoples. Yet, Inclusivity or Inclusion still remains liminal and/or “invisible” when we visit offices where decision-making and administrative practices take place. In the 21st century, diverse and different peoples truly want to be represented in ways beyond the tokenistic types of representation simply for the purpose of public relations. I hope and wish that the current Mayoral candidates and members of the City Council will be able to revisit the city’s practices in the past, check out its current status, and create the environment of inclusivity our city has sought for so long.
