CLUB MEETINGS

As always, please let Lucas know if you are attending a club meeting so he can can give the DAC an accurate head count: [email protected].

September 20th: We welcomed William Schrader, Retired Army and Coast Guard, to talk about the Brave Hearts Estate in Pellston, Michigan. The facility is a retreat for veterans and their families with a main house, campgrounds, playground and a wide range of sporting amenities. Opened in 2015, the focus is on wounded veterans and offers free lodging and activiities.

In addition, Circle K (from Wayne State) gave a brief update of what they have been doing. Their calendar year is September - March. To date, they have 21 members and are working to grow this number. This July, they won the district award for the greatest number of service hours. They will be quite busy this year planning for the July 2017 Circle K District Convention as they are the host club.

Finally, we had a visitor from Florida, Dave Gravelle, who was delighted to join us for the lunch meeting. Lucas gave him a tour of the DAC who he certainly felt special!

October 4th: We will be installing our 2016/2017 club officers and directors.

October 18th:

Our club meeting will be at the books for kids warehouse from 12 noon - 1:30PM to sort/sticker books. The address of the new warehouse is 290 E. Milwaukee (plenty of parking on the street). Hope to have a great turnout from the club. Be sure to invite any potential new members to attend so they can socialize with your fellow club members and see this great service project.

GOURMET NUT TIME

It is that time of year again - Lucas Wright is taking orders for gourmet nuts and chocolate delights. The price is the same as last year - $25.00 for each. To remind you, this is an important fundraiser for our club’s administrative budget. Time is short, however, so let Lucas know how many cans you want. These make great gifts for the holidays but if you are like me, at least one can never makes it out of the pantry and I do not share!

Contact Lucas at: [email protected]. He will bring your order to club meetings and he has a big trunk so don’t be shy!
