The next training will be on Sunday 9 at 9am. Please note that this is the second Sunday of the month due to father’s day being on our usual training day. Fires are burning in East Gippsland and across NSW, Unfortunately, this will be a familiar headline on our screens for the next six months or so. Drought conditions across most of QLD and NSW mean their fire seasons have already started. Last time I checked it was still winter…. what does this mean for us? Most predictions are for a warmer and drier spring than average which will most likely start our fire season earlier than normal. At the moment parts of Vic could be in fire season as early as October. Now is the time to prepare. Start cleaning up, get

those piles of rubbish removed, help us to help you. Big congratulations to two members John and Declan on completing their BA courses Three new members are under-going minimum skills training and we hope to have them fully trained and ready to go in Spring. If you would like to join and help your community, come to the station any Sunday morning @ 8:30am to meet us and start the ball rolling. You can follow the brigade on Facebook “Anakie Fire Brigade”. You can also follow CFA & SES activity on the web site https://emergency.vic.gov.au/respond/ Fires can happen at ALL times

of the year, in all environments, so be prepared,

be safe & have a fire plan

Health News & More... This month I want to talk to you again about the Flu Season and vaccinations. Firstly, this year’s season is expected to continue into September and even into October. So what does this mean? If you have not yet had a flu vaccination but you would like to have one or you are travelling overseas soon, it is not too late to be vaccinated; better late than never!! However, as most people would be aware, there have been shortages of flu vaccines this year; indeed most clinics did run out! But there is good news!! New stocks have now become available so contact your usual clinic and book in for a flu vaccine. And remember, if you have a chronic disease or are over 65 years old the vaccine is free. If you do not qualify for a free one it will only cost you $20. email: [email protected] Ph: 0425 731 295 Be well and create your happiness..!!
