DHCD approval quickly followed.

Assisted the Town with a MA Downtown Initiative (MDI) application requesting funds to develop a “Smart Growth Village Center Zoning District” in Byfield
Other Notable Projects
• Our Clean Energy Action Plan (completed in 2012) offered specific recommendations for Newbury (i.e. helping to achieve Green Community designation if desired).
• In our Priority Growth Strategy (completed in 2009, updated in 2015), Newbury has 3 PDAs of local significance and 1 PDA of regional significance.
• MVPC facilitates meetings with the region’s Mayors, Town Managers, Town Administrators, DPW Directors, and Planning/Economic Development Directors. Newbury takes full advantage of these opportunities.

• Identified recommendations for modifying existing parking and expanding supply.
• Developed concepts for improving safety for both vehicles and
pedestrians.

• Reviewed traffic, safety and transit conditions in the community.
• Identified four Transportation Goals and 31 Recommended Implementation Strategies.
• Major focus on improving bicycle and pedestrian travel in town.
