27th September 2019 Newsletter No. 110
Uniform Sale: The next uniform sale will be held on 11th October at school pick up. Please bring any donations you may have to the school over the next week or so. Fireworks Display: As you are aware from the last newsletter, we will be holding a fireworks night on Thursday November 7th from 6pm-7.45pm. Arrangements are
being finalised and a flyer will be circulated over the next week or so. Tickets will be sold online. Festive Fundraiser: We will be organising another fundraiser like the fantastic tea towels initiative last year. The item chosen will cover year groups and include a self-portrait of your child. As well as being a great fundraiser for the school they also make lovely festive gifts for family and friends. Further information to follow soon. Christmas Fayre Brochure competition: We will be circulating flyers before half term asking children to create a design for our Christmas Fayre brochure. It is really lovely to have the design created by a pupil and so please encourage your child to participate. All entries will be put up around the school for everyone to enjoy. Many thanks, PTFA
It has been lovely to see some sunshine between the
stormy showers this week—Autumn has really arrived!
Inside school it is wonderful to see the productive
learning which is taking place across all Key Stages—the
children are so settled and in the full swing of their new
topics. It has been especially gratifying to see the
children so excited and motivated by much cross
curricular teaching, which really sparks their imagination
and results in high quality learning. Thanks to the staff
for their hard work and meticulous planning.
As Autumn approaches, we remember those less fortunate
than ourselves and I am delighted that we are able to
support Sutton Night Watch this year with our Harvest
Giving. If you are able we would very much appreciate your
gifts at one of our Harvest Festival services.
Thank you to all parents and friends who have attended
our ‘Parent Helpers’ Meetings over the past few weeks; we
are looking forward to working more closely with you over
the coming months over the coming months. Ms J Corby

On Friday 13th September 2019 the Playleaders set off on an inspirational
visit to The London Aquatics Centre in Stratford for the World Para Swimming Allianz Championships 2019. The event was both captivating and exciting, as
we watched athletes from around the world complete in their swimming events. We were given flags to cheer on GB and we did this with pride. We sat in the stands, three rows from the pool…with
fabulous and clear views! After an exciting morning and now in a new frame of mind, about what we could achieve, we made our way to the park to finish off a memorable day.

On Saturday 14th September the Cheam and Cuddington Horticultural Society Autumn Show was held at St Dunstan’s. The children’s exhibits were all displayed in a separate hall and everyone who went into the hall commented on how great
the works of art, vegetables, models looked. For those of you who entered the runner bean competition well done, there were a lot of impressive beans: the overall winner was Olivia Brown who’s bean was almost 40cm. Well done Olivia excellent growing. Thank you to everyone who participated.
Please find attached Useful Information for Parents which you may find beneficial.
Please ensure that you do not push the gates when entering the school, or to the Infant or Junior playgrounds. For your information, the gates from the EYFS & KS1 close at 8.45am. After this time you need to bring your child to the office to sign in.
On Thursday 19th September, the Playleaders all took part in the Sutton Supremo Training Day, run by Sutton School
Partnership. The afternoon was packed with excitement and enthusiasm, as the children learnt new skills, including game
organisation. They created rules for games, collected and organised equipment and practiced their games. This was followed by a practical session where Year 2 and Year 3 joined them on the playground to play the new games. The feedback received from the children and adults was
tremendous, as the Playleaders lead with clarity, organisation and positivity. We are now truly ready for the year ahead of us, and we look forward to seeing our
Playleaders inspire other children to play and get involved. Well done to all the Playleaders.
