Rosanna Feyerabend

Rosanna Feyerabend was born and raised in Peru. She graduated from the Private University of Chiclayo, Peru and worked as a journalist for the Correo Newspaper in Chiclayo. She also worked in public relations for a

government hospital system.Rosanna met Bill Feyerabend while on a holiday vacation in Peru, and after

the two married, she followed him to Venezuela, Bolivia and finally to Prescott Valley because of his work as a geologist. Rosanna became a U.S. Citizen in Arizona, and when her two children became old enough for school, she reached

people struggle to feed their pets, they began donating free packages of dog and/or cat to unemployed residents so that they could con-tinue to feed their pets during the pandemic. They also partnered with El Gato Azul to donate pet food for the restaurant’s customers that received needed food during that time.

But it is not only during times of emer-gency that Robyn and Tori give this kind-ness. Year round they have a barrel with bagged pet foot that people can take for free as well as bins for other donations that go to those in need. From dog and cat beds, to collars, leashes and crates, these are all shared on a daily basis in the store.

We are fortunate to have Robyn and Tori as part of our Prescott Valley family.

From the moment they opened the doors Pet Headquarters became Prescott Valley’s hometown pet store. They offer a variety of pet food and supplies, a dog washing station, grooming and dog training class-es. Since opening in they have become a strong supporter of the Prescott Valley Community.

But Robyn and Tori do more than operate a business, they help people. Stepping up during the stay-at-home order and seeing

Feyerabend, continued from page 1out and offered her newspaper experience to Alianza, a small local publication which mostly reported soccer news. Shortly thereafter, Alianza passed to Rosanna, and she has grown it into a respected 16-page weekly newspaper that keeps the Hispanic com-munity informed about sports, social events, government and general news.

Rosanna has used her community organizational skills to spearhead the Dia del Nino Festival and Miss Yavapai County Latina Pageants, among others. She has worked tire-lessly to bridge the Hispanic Community with the Prescott Valley Police Department through such events as the annual Puente de la Communidad. Other events she has led include a Hispanic fundraiser for the local Food Bank and a Solidarity Campaign for earthquake victims in Oaxaca, Mexico with the Hispanic Christian Churches in the Northern Arizona area.

As its founder, Rosanna is proud to support The Alianza Institute, Inc. Non-Profit Organization to help people reach their full potential through literacy and educational programs. In 2015, she was honored to be invited to the White House as part of a dele-gation of 100 outstanding Peruvians to celebrate the Day of the Independence of Peru.

In 2020, Rosanna has been invaluable in encouraging our Hispanic community to respond to the 2020 Census, which brings crucial funding for Town services into the future.

August was a very busy month for us, much of which is re-capped in this news magazine.

Big news is that Prescott Val-ley will be home to an Indoor Arena Football team. Prelimi-nary work is being done such as naming it, getting the coaching and staff together and of course, getting the players. This team will be in the same league as the Rattlers in Phoenix and the Sugar Skulls in Tucson. Looks like some very fun rivalries are ahead. Season will start in March and run through July. More information will be shared as it comes out.

We are still doing a lot of our meetings virtually via zoom and while it is not my favoaite way to commu-nicate, it does keep everyone connected. Brady con-ducted his first membership orientation via zoom and it worked out very well. I am seeing this as a very good alternative when you cannot get out of the office.

We had great fun delivering our new teacher wel-come bags. Thank you to our businesses who contrib-uted to make our teachers smile with happiness. We have the best community!

I hope you are continuing to follow us on Facebook and are reading our weekly eFlash messages. Critical information regarding quidelines, restrictions, grant and loan opportunities and business survival informa-tion continues to flow at a fast pace and we are keep-ing you up to date with the morst current and relevant resources and information.

And in the midst of all this covid craziness we once agan welcome the Prescott Valley Healing Fields of Northern Arizona from Sept. 4 to the 11th. Visit the fields that will be at the PV Civic Center for time to honor and remember those lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. A complete schedule of activities is in this news maga-zine.

And one last thing...Sending Best Wishes for happi-ness to Brady and Sierra who will be tying the know on Sept. 19. Cheers to your new lives beginning.

2020 Student of the YearAaron Ott

Aaron is a dedicated and exceptional student. He has succeeded in spite of health setbacks and is a role model for others to emulate.

Aaron has excelled academically with a 4.47 GPA. He was involved in

Bradshaw Mountain High School’s drama troupe and has served on the State Thespian Officer board. In this capacity he has taught workshops at the state festival as well as run troupe officer training camps.

In addition to these accomplishments, Aaron took lead in the senior class AP Academy’s capstone project by spear head-ing the Bradshaw Mountain Beautification Mission to clean-up and improve the aesthetic appearance of the campus.

Aaron’s plans to attend the WP Carey School of Business at ASU and attend their Leader’s Academy. His long term plans are to return to Prescott Valley and the family business.

2020 Organization of the YearFirefighter Angel Foundation

What started out as assistance to a fam-ily in need by Cody and Tammy Rose has grown into an organization that serves and supports families in the entire quad-city re-gion and beyond.

The Firefighter Angel Foundation is a 501©3 non -profit foundation organized ex-clusively for the charitable purpose of pro-viding a positive impact on families in crisis and/or need. Each year during the Christ-mas holiday families with children in need, in crisis or have fallen on hard times are identified and provided with food, gifts and other essential items. All this is delivered by a caravan of public safety vehicles which include fire trucks and police cars. The impact on the kids and families is priceless.

The Foundation relies on donations and their fundraisers to raise the money to support them. They have two major fundraisers, the Pancake Breakfast at the Firehouse and the Gear up Car Show. Both are fun and family friendly events which generate the much needed revenue support.

In addition to the holiday giving, the Firefighter Angel Foundation also partners with the Humboldt Unified School District for the Fill the Bus, and the Back to School Giveaway.

The Firefighter Angel Foundation is all volunteer run and with the leadership of Cody and Tammy

Rose and the involvement of the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Au-thority they are an organization that rises to the top of community service and giving.

2020 Student of the YearCeilie Plucinsky

Ceilie is a hard-working, kind, compassionate young women. She recently finished her junior year at Bradshaw Mountain High School and has plans to attend ASU when she graduates in 2021.

Ceilie has simultaneously held two jobs, one at Prescott Cardiology and the other at Firehouse Subs while attending school. Her nominator calls her kind and supportive to others; outgoing and passionate.

She dreams of one-day becoming a Prescott Valley Police Officer.Congratulations to Ceilie Plucinsky, Student of the Year.

2020 Norm Pariseau Volunteer of the YearKim Haugen

As a volunteer of over 10 years at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center East Campus, Kim Haugen exemplifies their Mission, Vision and Values as well as makes YRMC a better place.

Kim has worked in many roles for the hospital including mail delivery, front desk and escort service. She has assisted the PAWS Program – Pet Therapy and works with the PAWS volun-teers. She has worked as Patient Services Assistant which allows for the medical staff to focus their attention on patient care.

Kim consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty. When she sees a need, Kim is the first one to offer to fill it. She displays all the qualities of a valuable volunteer exemplifying the spirit of cooperation. She is respected by not only other volunteers and our community. This is very apparent when you see her in action.

2020 Chamber Member of the YearKooiman Construction

Last year the Chamber Board of Directors ap-proved a plan to expand the of-fice space for the

Chamber and the Visitor Center. At that same time the suite adjacent to the north of the Chamber became avail-able and working with Kooiman Construction plans were drawn up to best make use of the new area. Included in the design were a new board and training room, office, storage and lobby area.

Through the planning, demolition, redesigning, con-struction and finish work, Kooiman Construction led the work. We are proud of the finished space; it is a welcome addition and one our members can better utilize. The award is given to a Chamber member who goes above and beyond in support of the Chamber and Kooiman Con-struction did just that in the addition of the new office space. We cannot thank them enough.

2020 Prescott Valley Heritage AwardWoody Lewis

For more than 35 years, Building Of-ficial Woody Lewis has been a part of Prescott Valley’s growth, and Com-munity Development Director Rich-ard Parker said Woody has probably inspected nearly every square foot of the Town’s more than six million square feet of commercial buildings.

Woody has played an integral part of growing the Town through common

sense inspection practices and application of the building codes, all with exceptional customer service. Town Manager Larry Tarkowski, who has worked with Woody for more than 30 years, said “Woody has distin-guished himself in Northern Arizona as an exceptionally great advocate for contractors and for safe construction practices. In addition, he has worked hard at building community development employees by impressing upon them the importance of customer service and reasonable practices.”

Permit technician Lyn Newton, a 38-year employee, said in her years of working with Woody she has never heard anyone say a derogatory word about him. “His approach has always been, ‘I’m sorry, you may not be able to do it this way, but let’s see how we can do it.’ He felt the Town and the customer were a team, and together we could work it out. And mostly, we did. He is unbelievably knowledgeable and effective in all things dealing with building construction.”

2020 Community Improvement AwardHomestead Talking Glass

Homestead Talking Glass is a 214 unit apartment complex located in the heart of Prescott Valley in the Entertainment District developed by the Fain Signature Group. Located on the corner of Main Street and Florentine this luxury development added a residential component to a vibrant downtown area.

The project broke ground in October 2017 and created resort style living for its residents. The gated community complex sits on 9.44 acres and has first class amenities including an upper-level clubhouse, pool and spa, 24 hour fitness center, dog park with wash station, outdoor gas grilling stations and a business center. It is beautifully landscaped which makes it not only beautiful on the inside but visually appealing from the outside.

This is downtown living at its best and it completely improved not only the land but brought a new quality of life to Prescott Valley.
