SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY NEWSIn today’s Gospel Jesus called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, He said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.” Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will help hungry children feel the arms of Jesus around them. There will be a special collection on Sunday, September 30th for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Please prayerfully consider a donation to help Pickaway County families in need. Thank you!

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Let us pray:
Jesus, help us to know that
we can always ask you ques-
tions Reveal where in our
lives we are putting our-
selves first so we can let go
and let you lead us to be
better servants. May our
gifts and talents be put at
your disposal to help
others. Amen.

TIME & LOCATION: 9:30 a.m. during PSR with child in the classroom.
Mission Collections: Once again, PSR program is
collecting money each week to sponsor a youth from
Honduras. Each week the PSR classes take up a collection
for MISSIONS. Most of the money goes toward sponsor-
ing a child from Honduras. With this sponsorship our child
receives health services, education services, and family live-
lihood services. Our child is a 2 year old boy named Angel
Roberto Reyes Sagastume. His birthday is April 23. We
need to collect enough funds to cover the entire year.
ChildFund asks us to send $30 per month to help with these
services for Angel. If every student brought in $ .25 each week we would have
plenty to assist Angel for the year. Any extra, once the summer months are cov-
ered, would be given to St. Vincent DePaul to help a local family in need. Please con-
tinue to send in change to assist with his sponsorship. As mentioned in the Gospel ,
Jesus calls us to be more than decent and generous human beings. He teaches us
about giving from our basic substance—not from what we might have that is “extra”.
TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 23, 2018

SAINT JOSEPH CATHEDRAL LEADING REPARATION PILGRIMAGE TO THE NATIONAL SHRINE AND BASILICA OF OUR LADY OF CONSOLATION IN NEARBY CAREY, OHIO: Given the sexual misconduct scandals in certain corners of the Church, the annual Cathedral pilgrimage to Our Lady of Consolation Shrine is focused this year on one of reparation, with a special Rosary and Mass of Reparation, along with the other devotions provided the Franciscan Friars at the Shrine. All clergy, religious and faithful are invited to participate in this collective act of reparation on October 6, with a Rosary beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m. and a Mass of Reparation at 11:00 a.m.; a number of Shrine devotions are also part of this pilgrimage. To assist the Franciscan Friars in preparing for this special pilgrimage an attendance count is requested, thus persons interested in participating in this reparation pilgrimage, are requested to contact the Cathedral parish office by Monday, October 1, by calling (614) 224-1295, or email [email protected]. Our Lady of Consolation Shrine is generally a 90-minute drive from Columbus; for directions please visit the Shrine web site at www.olcshrine.com; the Shrine and Basilica has a new elevator and is handicap accessible.
