Troop Scoop
Welcome! First I would like to once again thank you and welcome
you all to our troop! It is so exciting to start off our year,
and even though we are small but mighty right now I
know that we will grow as the Lord sees fit. I would first
like to thank all the parents who made time in your busy
schedules to bring your girls to our meeting, I know how
difficult scheduling can be so I appreciate your effort.
Right now we have girls in the Pathfinder, Tenderheart,
and Explorer levels. And of course if you know someone
who you would like to invite to join our group please feel
free to do so, and pass on my information if you like.

At our first meeting we spent the time making our troop lapbooks
to help us all earn our Joining Award. If you were not able to at-
tend the first meeting don’t worry we will have one ready for you
at the next meeting! For our Joining Award we have to memorize
is our AHG Oath, Creed, and the Pledge of Allegiance. I am so
proud of our girls for learning the Oath at the meeting, and they
are almost done memorizing the creed as well! The Creed song is
a great help for them learning it so please listen to it via YouTube.

(If this link is broken send me a text and I’ll send you a direct link to it)
So remember to practice saying our Oath and Creed from your lapbooks, and for those
who need the info:
Oath
I promise to
Love God
Cherish my family
Honor my country
And
Serve in my community
Meeting
Notes
A Note from our Treasurer
Please bring your checkbook to the next
meeting to pay your dues. Checks can be
made out to Troop OH2237 and dues are
$26.00.
Also if you have not yet ordered your daughter’s uniform and handbook
please do this as soon as possible. You can order them as a set from
AHGonline.org and save a bit of money that way. Our uniform is an
important part of our troop because that is where the girls will be able to
show their badges as well as helping foster a team spirit atmosphere
with each other.
Creed
As an American Heritage Girl I promise to be:
Compassionate

Honest
Loyal

We will continue working on our Joining
Award. So please remember to practice
your creed and oath. Part of the award is
showing you understand our AHG customs
(sign & salute), page 48 in the handbook.
Flag etiquette for Tenderhearts and
above, pages 52-53 of the handbook.
Flag ceremonies for Tenderheart and
above, pages 54-55 of the handbook. We
will be going over these items in detail
during the meeting, but it will be helpful
and much faster if you review these items
at home over the next week.
Don’t forget there is a Service Hours
tracking sheet in your handbook on
page 68. You can begin keeping track
of all service hours completed outside of
troop activities, just have a parent or the
adult you worked with sign off on the
tracking sheet. If you volunteer before/
after school with tutoring, working
Sunday School as a helper, or working
raking leaves for your neighbors—it all
counts. If you have any questions about
an activity counting for service hours
don’t hesitate to ask one of the leaders!
Sports Pin Award
If you are involved in: basketball,
bowling, competitive swimming,
gymnastics, martial arts, running,
ice skating, soccer, softball,
tennis, or volleyball you can earn
a special pin award for your
uniform. If you are interested in
finding out more please ask Mrs.
Toth, and/or look up the
requirements in your handbook
You are able to work on a badge of
your choice at home with your
parents as your leader/guide. When
you look through your handbook
and find the badge you would like to
earn feel free to start working on the
requirements. To meet the
requirements for a badge you must
complete all the “required” tasks
(the ones with the picture of your
uniform by them), and then some of
the optional requirements (the ones
without a uniform picture). 1 more
for Tenderhearts, 2 more for Explorers,
and 3 more for Pioneer/Patriot

Operation Christmas Child
I’m sure many of you are familiar with Operation Christmas Child. This is a
service opportunity that my family participates in every year, and I think it
is a great opportunity for all children to give back to others. This year col-
lection is from November 17th-24th, so we will need to have our boxes
ready to go by our November 13th meeting. I will have more information
for you at our October 9th meeting. Usually my family heads out to Family
Dollar by Home Depot/Sam’s Club and my kids get a plastic shoebox from
the store and fill it up there with different things they believe a child would
like to have. I make sure to add in things they need like toothbrush, toothpaste, washrags, etc. Then we
pack up and print out our shipping ticket online, not only can we pay for the box then and not have to
worry about it, but we can also track our box and see where it has arrived to touch a child with the love of
God. Last time our boxes went to Tanzania! I hope you will consider joining us for a troop outing to the dol-
lar store, and possibly a meal at Steak and Shake before or after filling our boxes.
Fundraising
We all know that being part of a troop will require some fundraising on our part. Our first fundraising will begin
in late October or early November—when the details are ironed out you will know the definite date. We have
decided to partner with Passion Works Studio because we believe in their cause and both groups will benefit
from our efforts. Passion Works motto is:
Passion Works Studio will strive to inspire and liberate the human spirit, enhance quality of life, and strengthen communities
through the arts. Our mission is to provide a creative and inclusive atmosphere in which artists with and without disabilities thrive.
We will accomplish this by focusing on the ability of artists to change perceptions, raise awareness, and beautify our communities
through outstanding works of art.
We are planning on selling Christmas cards with artwork from Passion Works artists. Our treasurer will have
more information on this shortly and we will be sharing that with the entire troop then.

AHG Creed
Song lyrics
I have a creed (repeat)
That I live by (repeat)
To help me choose (repeat)
The way that’s right (repeat)
I have a creed that I live by to help me choose the way
that’s right.
I’ll be compassionate, helpful, and honest
I’ll be loyal, perseverant and pure
I’ll be resourceful, respectful, responsible and reverent
This will be my creed!
