Doors Open Ontario
Is a province-wide celebration of community heritage, arts, architecture and culture sponsored by the Ontario Heritage Trust. The program is designed to create access, awareness and excitement about culture in communities and provides residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy sometimes hidden - and always interesting - places and spaces in Ontario cities, towns and villages.

Holy Trinity Anglican Church celebrated 180 years of worship in 2010 making this white, clapboard structure the oldest original church still in use in the Diocese of Toronto. One church founder was Benjamin Thorne, from whom Thornhill got its name. Originally on Yonge St., the church was dismantled in 1950 and reassembled at its present location. Guided tours on both days.

Built in 1860 of cut fieldstone in different sizes and earthtones in the Ontario House style, this structure is named after original owner Michael Cranny, an Irish-born farmer. The house is owned by the City of Vaughan and used by community service organizations, including Human Endeavour, as a community hub to promote social enterprises, civic engagement and innovation. Products and displays will be available for visitors.

Established in 1829, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is the oldest congregation in Maple. St. Andrew’s is a textbook example of Carpenter’s Gothic, a style of building with wood ornamentation often employed in Ontario’s early Victorian and pre-confederation architecture. Its clapboard siding and intricate design features are considered an architectural masterpiece for its time.
