St. Ann’s Parish 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time September 3, 2017

You will notice two flyers in today’s bulletin concerning events connected with St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio). The relics of Padre Pio are coming to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, St. Joseph’s Seminary, and St. Ann’s! On Saturday, September 16th, the relics of Padre Pio will be available for public veneration at St. Joseph’s Seminary from 9 AM until 3 PM. After the public veneration, the relics will come here to St. Ann’s. We will hold a special Mass at 3:30 PM concluding with a blessing with the relics. Because the relics need to be brought to St. Patrick’s Cathedral by 6:30 PM and we have a 5:00 PM Mass, we will not have the opportunity to venerate them privately here at St. Ann’s. If you wish to do so, please go to St. Joseph’s Seminary during the day. On Sunday, September 17th, Cardinal Dolan will be celebrating Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with the relics present. The San Silverio Society is also having a special Mass to honor St. Pio on September 17th at their shrine in Dover Plains, which is only about an hour-and-twenty-minute drive from Yonkers. I will be celebrating the Mass with them at 11 AM and will conclude by blessing everyone present with a relic of St. Pio. After the Mass, they will have a day of celebration on their beautiful picnic grounds. They will have a benefit concert for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital starring Angelo Venuto at 2:30 PM. There are sports activities available, including a bocce court. I invite you to join them at the picnic for a beautiful day. Bring your own picnic lunch. They have a pavilion with picnic tables and real restrooms available! The setting is absolutely beautiful! There will be a bus leaving from St. Ann’s that morning for anyone who wishes to use it. There is no charge to use the bus, but a donation which will go to the Maria Fareri Hospital will be graciously accepted. You do need to register to use the bus. If you’d like to come, simply call the rectory and leave your name with Gail. The San Silverio Society has been very generous in its help of St. Ann’s since the came to us two years ago, and it would be great to have some of our St. Ann’s family join them in their celebration. We are very blessed to have the relics of Padre Pio come to St. Ann’s, so let’s make this event a truly special occasion for us all!
