Dear Sisters and Brothers:
I greet you in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ! We have had quite a year, I’m sure you’d agree. The disruptions from COVID 19 are now in their sixth month, with no reliable estimates as to when the special safety protocols will be relaxed. Worship has been reinvented, not only with respect to how we worship, but also where we worship has changed. Church administration has changed with the introduction of the “Zoom Meeting” into our lexicon. Our mission focus hasn’t really changed, but we’ve needed to adjust planning to account for the lack of proceeds from the Warren County Fair food booth. The times, they are a changing’.
There are a couple of items to call to your attention for this year’s Charge Conference Report.
1. You will not find a budget proposal for 2021 for either church because we could not get them completed and approved by each Administrative Council prior to this meeting. I accept the blame for this. What this will mean is that we will need to have another Charge (or Church) Conference meeting to vote on the budget proposal. We would likely do so in late November or early December, depending upon schedules and availability. I do apologize for this inconvenience.
2. There are quite a few unfilled positions in each church’s nominations report. Some of these are mission critical openings (such as Lay Leader or Chair of Council). Please know that reluctance to volunteer to serve your church is not sinful, but neither is it helpful. I urge you to review the reports of both nomination committees and, where you see yourself as a good fit, let me know that you are willing and able to serve.
Despite these concerns, I am fully convinced that we have good reason for hope. That is made possible through the grace of God and the gift of God’s Son. We are sufficient to God’s grace, so we can be confident that we will win whatever challenge Satan’s forces have laid before us. Evil can never defeat God, so stay strong even in our weaknesses.
Sharing our Love and Blessings with you all!
