The Alternative Medicine Chest with Lori Gordon Tuesday October 15 7 pm
Health guru at Organica, a natural foods and supplements store in nearby Northvale, NJ, will give participants the inside scoop on using a wide array of vitamins, supplements, tinctures, teas, salves and homeopathics to treat common, everyday ailments. Discover surefire remedies for bruises, pain, itching, and a myriad of digestive and intestinal issues. Learn what to take to support your immune system and avoid colds and the flu while others around you are suffering. Other topics include insulin resistance, inflammation, anxiety and fatigue. Lori has personally tested hundreds of products in her quest to recommend the ones that pro-duce the best results. You will be able to stock your own all-natural, health-oriented “medicine chest” for every season. Avoid harsh chemicals, house-hold products and medicines that do more harm than good. Protect your children, the elderly, pets and friends. Be the hero of your family. Lori is happy to answer questions throughout
the presentation.
Join the Mighty 5 Libraries of South Orangetown with
videographer Craig Dudnick for a free screening of his
inspiring documentary, Alice’s Ordinary People.
Alice Tregay was an unsung hero of the civil rights movement, practicing
fearless activism for five decades. Her remarkable story of ordinary people
effecting extraordinary change spans the seminal period from the marches
of Dr. Martin Luther King to the election of Barack Obama. Contributions
she made in the field of politics are a thread that connects the two.
Craig Dudnick illuminates the atmosphere in Chicago that drew her
to the cause, and tells how he came to make the film. Q&A follows.

Jonathan Kruk: “A Christmas Carol” Saturday December 21 4 pm BEHRINGER ROOM
Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk has regaled metro area audiences with American and British folktales for over thirty years. His venerable Legend of Sleepy Hollow at the Old Dutch Church in Tarrytown remains an annual must-see.
Now, The Friends of the Blauvelt Free Library are bringing the popular raconteur to our side of the river for an evening of humbug with his delightful rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Jim Keyes sets the musical mood on keyboard and the 19th century ambiance of Judge Cornelius Blauvelt’s homestead is a perfect backdrop for this tale of greed, ghosts and the Yuletide redemption of a lost soul.
FREE, but space is very limited and registration required Refreshments after the show Part of The Friends’ “Season of Carols” to include showings of sever-al movie versions of the Dickens classic and a “Spirit of Christmas Present” Food Drive to benefit People to People
