RESPECT-HONOR-STRENGTH

Reno Huskie Families,

It has been a very successful beginning to the 2015-2016 school year. Students

have been doing a great job of hustling to class, being prepared and being

respectful. I spoke to them during the Welcome Back Assembly about sustaining

their efforts by getting good sleep, eating healthy (lay off the chips and Monster

drinks) and drinking water. If they can take care of their bodies and stay

organized—there is no reason why they cannot sustain their efforts in school all

the way through to semester and beyond!

Families—we need a little help when it comes to dress code. Every year we see

new fashions and trends. This year for some reason midriffs are back for the girls

and sagging pants for the boys. Please emphasize to your kids that this is not

appropriate attire. We want to ready our students for successful careers and part

of being successful is making good decisions when it comes to dress. Thank you

for your help as always.

Parent Night is September 9th beginning in the main gym at 7pm. We will have a

few important announcements then you will navigate through your student’s

schedule hearing from each teacher for about 8 minutes. Parent Night is a time to

meet the teachers only. Please schedule parent conferences for another time.

We will have the newly renovated College and Career Center open that night

where we will have staff available to help you with Infinite Campus. We will have

bilingual staff present also. Make sure your student brings home their schedule

for you so you know where to go that evening. We hope you all can make it!

Encourage your students to attend the Club Drive 9/9 at lunch in the back quad

also. Students who are involved in extra-curricular activities tend to do better in

school and being involved in diverse clubs, organizations and sports looks better

on college transcripts.

Please remember to excuse absences within 3 days. You can call, email or send a

note with your student. Please monitor the progress of your student on Infinite

Campus and email teachers/counselors if you are noticing early problems.

Onward to September!

Welcome Back Assembly honors our Armed Forces

Our Leadership class did an outstanding job last week with Welcome Back festivities. Each dress up day honored

one of our Armed Forces. During the assembly our Choir sang an amazing tribute incorporating all the branches of

the military. We had lunchtime activities like capture the flag and we saw the new renovations in the College and

Career Center. Finally, Leadership had a Toiletry Drive for soldiers. All donated items will be given to the Blue Star

Mom’s organization.

Reminder for Senior Parents Senior Parent Night Monday September 28 in the Theater at 6pm.

College and Career Center

- “ College 101”- October 1st, 6pm in the CCC: Info session for parents of juniors and seniors about the college application and financial aid process. Get the facts!

- “Been There, Done That”- October 15th, 6pm in the CCC: geared towards parents who have been through the process or have a basic understanding of the college application process.

- We had a ribbon cutting to show the renovations to our CCC. There was a contest to create a nickname for the space—which will be released soon. March Madness fundraising dollars went toward the new lay-out and furniture.
