Service projects can be large or small in scale. A nice handmade card show-ing your support and ap-preciation can be all it takes to brighten a sol-dier’s day.

Support your troops, their families, your country. Division 3S is a part of Texas-Oklahoma
District , or T-O, of Key clubs. The Gov-
ernor may be thought of as the “president”
of this entire dual state district. Each year,
the Governor chooses a project in which
the entire district participates in. Each
participating club, if they fulfill the require-
ments, receive a patch for their Key Club
banner. (If your club does not have a ban-
ner, let me know!) This year, Governor
Megan has chosen Operation Overwatch,
Operation Overwatch is focused on troops
and their families, directly or indirectly.
Why did Megan choose this project?
“Whenever I first planned to run for Gover-
nor, I noticed that one of the requirements
was that I attend International Convention
in Phoenix, Arizona. The remarkable thing
is that my paternal Grandpa lives just a few
minutes away from Phoenix, in Tempe. I
asked my Dad about how my Grandpa was
doing (I hadn’t seen him in 5 years) and
found out many things about my Grandpa
that I have never known. He was in the US
army for several years. Not only that, but
he was a former Kiwanian. I didn’t ask him
whenever I did visit him after ICON be-
cause he’d recently suffered from a stroke
and has speech complications on top of
memory loss. Imagine all of the valuable
information that I lost. Take advantage of
the time you have with loved ones now, especially those who put themselves in
dangerous situations to protect your free-
dom.” - Governor Megan
This project is to
make the troops and
their families feel
welcome and appreci-
ated. This project in
no way supports the
war. We are con-
cerned with our com-
munities not politics.
Start thinking of ideas
today!!! The sooner
you start the better!
Requirements TBA.
Division 3N, our District Division has some of the strongest
clubs in International. The club, Cy-Fair, which is in Cypress (you
will get to meet them at the FTC) was ranked #10 in International this
past year.
Here are examples of their typical monthly reports. It is a tad
daunting to see the number of newsletters, articles, and board mem-
bers in attendance at their events, but what really makes them this
strong is their members. There is a misconception in leadership in
which one believes that officers/leaders “make or break” and organi-
zation. However, what really makes clubs strong is their members.
Divide up the tasks, articles, events, etc amongst members.
Let’s make our T-O district proud! If you need more help on
reporting visit the Facebook group and see Ryan Nava’s tutorial video
on our wall. Remember this is the club secretary’s duty! And they are
REQUIRED!! Send them to me and Ryan Nava by the 5th of the following month! :)
Within Key Club, there are a variety of words and
phrases that make up Key Club jargon. The jargon con-
sists largely of acronyms. The following is a list of some
common acronyms as well as an explanation as to
what they are.
LTG Lieutenant Governor
Your LTG is your liaison between
your individual clubs and your dis-
trict. Your LTG is an elected member
of your division who is an invaluable
resource for information. They can
assist in providing information on
things like Fall Rally and District
Convention as well as aid in training
new officers and educating members
on things like the District Project.
DCM Divisional Council Meeting
DCMs are held monthly by your
LTG. At the meetings, clubs can dis-
cuss problems like membership re-
tention with other clubs in the area
who may have solutions.
Also, your LTG will be able to pro-
vide you with information from your
district regarding fundraisers and ser-
vice projects. Attendance is im-
portant so you and your club can re-
ceive the most assistance and up to
date information possible. Check
your divisional newsletter for dates
and locations of DCMs.
MRF Monthly Report Form
MRF’s are the documentation that
your club has of its projects and
fundraisers.
Based on MRF’s, clubs are recog-
nized for their work at District Con-
vention. MRFs are submitted month-
ly by club secretaries to Kiwanis
sponsors, the District Secretary, and
LTGs.
FTC Fall Training Conference
FTC’s are held in September or Oc-
tober by the division in which your
club is . This event is where your of-
ficers learn about Key Club their du-
ties, ice brekers, and get to hear Key
Note speakers , and have a great
time. These hosted by your sponsor-
ing Kiwanis clubs and your LTGs.
LTGs may team up to do regional
FTCs/ One of 3S’s traditions is to
have the FTC with the “3 3’s” or the
Houston area region, Region 12. This
includes 3N,3S, and 3E. This year,
we are also partnering up with Divi-
sion 3S, the Woodlands area, in our
FTC. Mark your calendars! This
year, the FTC is September 24th at
Cy-Falls HS. Downtown Kiwanis
club has provided a bus for transpor-
tation, on a first come first serve ba-
sis via RSVP by email to me.
Key Club Acronyms
Miracle Day at Dairy Queen has raised $4.5
billion since 1983. Key Clubs traditionally participate
during the month of August. When you buy
a Blizzard® Treat on Miracle Treat Day, $1 or more
will benefit your local Children’s Miracle Network
Hospital. All funds raised stay local, so you will be
helping the children in your own community!
Thanks for your help!
Division 3S has been hard at work this August
promoting Kety Club and recruiting members. New
members are a vital source to this organization, espe-
cially freshman, who can take full advantage of the
leadership opportunities KCI has to offer.
Thank you 3S for sharing your wonderful ex-
periences to the potential members who will expand
our organization.
