Copy deadline for the October/November issue: Monday 21st September

AGM Well, Who’d a thowt it? Chairman Boothy. Perhaps I should consider putting together a little red book rather than a newsletter. To be honest, it was not a position that I was looking to fill and have reservations whether I have the time to fulfil both roles well, especially given the standard set by a long list of illustrious previous incumbents. It’s all a bit daunting at the moment! I know I’ll get lots of support (and, no doubt, plenty of ‘advice’!) from the Committee and club members and I will do my best for the Club in both posts until this time next year, when we will review the situation. I also have some concerns about a possible conflict of interest between the two positions. One of the functions of the Newsletter Editor, as I see it, is to act as ‘devil’s advocate’ occasionally and to try to stir members into thought or action. As Chairman, however, I have to be the spokesman for the committee. Unless I’m very much mistaken, though, there are plenty of members with forthright opinions that do not always accord with the Committee view. We will need such members to put pen to paper and express their views in the Newsletter. At this point I would like to put on record my appreciation of the great job done in 2008-2009 by all the members of the Committee, including those who have retired or changed roles, not just John, but also Peter Thompson, Kieron Mitchell, Alex Cran, Kath Brady, Candice Taylor and Garry Wilkinson. Kath has done a superb job as Clothing Custodian, a vital position that Val Lawson has agreed to take over. Alex, Kieron, Garry and Candice have been very effective captains, particularly in that most difficult of arts: organising relay teams. Gary Shaw, Stuart Fogg, Paul Shackleton and Katy Thompson have taken over as Road and Fell, Vet Fell and Ladies’ Captains (see last page for contact numbers). If I can make my first plea as Chairman, it is for that you make their life as easy as possible, by informing the relevant captain of the relays that you wish to be considered for. The hardest job of any team captain is always phoning round to find out who is available for a specific event. Peter Thompson has done a great deal of work ‘behind the scenes’ in drawing up Health and Safety guidance and helping John to write the Club’s Development Plan. As for John, after years of selfless service organising and leading training sessions, he has worked really hard over the last three years, two as Chairman, to ensure that CleM continues to thrive for a long time. It’s a shame that a change of job has meant that he is unable to continue, but his legacy is a plan that the Committee and I can carry forward into the future. Continuing the theme of club development, I am delighted to welcome Marion Wilkinson to the role of Junior Co-ordinator, a post that has been vacant for some time. During a brief chat following the AGM, I was impressed by Marion’s commitment to attracting juniors and her ideas for keeping them within the club. However, if Marion is to achieve her aims, she too will need support from members, particularly with any training that takes place. Watch this space and the website for ways to help Marion and the club develop future members.

Boothy’s Bit

Relays The Relay season is well and truly upon us, with road cross country and fell relays taking place in September and October. Arrangements are already in hand for the Northern 6 Stage Road Relay in Leeds on 26th September, but Gary could do with a few more names, in case anyone has to drop out. On 3rd October, the BMAF Cross Country Relays will be held at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield. Please contact Mark, Anna or Mick Wrigley if you would like to take part. (see p 35 for a message from the Cross Country Captains). Also on 3rd October, we have four teams (including Z team) in the Ian Hodgson Fell Relay, likewise in the FRA Relays two weeks later, on 18th October. The Committee has yet to decide which teams we are sending to the FRA Relays but, as always, if you are available, contact your captain (see back page). Thieveley Pike Fell Race Finally, a plea for assistance at Thieveley on Saturday, 26th September. I’ve already had some offers of help on the day, but could do with a few more. Although it’s only a short race, because there are so many gates etc, we need a lot of marshals out on the course, plus some ‘bodies’ to help with car parking, registration and the finish. There are some jobs that can be done even if you intend to race, so if you can spare some time, please let me know

CAPTION COMPETITION

What was going on at this recent ‘X’ Team excursion on Dunsop Head? A small prize (same one as last month) for the best suggestion.

Withdrawal Symptoms from Winter Training

What have you missed during the summer months? Are you, like me, looking forward to October? Why, you may wonder - because Tuesday nights in Oct will hopefully see the return of training on Widow Hill Road, where countless fellow minded runners are vocally encouraged by John Roche to greater efforts. The enjoyment and friendly repartee are something that I have missed during the summer. You may remember that I have heard John's voice 'encouraging' me on training runs around the world from Europe to New Zealand. However, I have discovered that his voice cannot be heard above 14,000 ft in Colorado, and the only voice I heard was Jill's when I was going to be 2 hours longer than my estimated time on an epic trip in the mountains. This from a man who won the estimated time for the Uphill Race from Worston to Pendle Trig. this summer. El Presidente.

Kitty Garnett—Flora London Marathon

I have learnt that Kitty has just been awarded the W70 first place in the Flora London Marathon. There had been a cock-up in the results. She had been given 3rd place but she didn't know the 2 in front. It turned out they were blokes. So yippee. How can we get her considered for Run of the Month?

Joss Naylor Traverse: Anne Marie Grindley by Linda Lord

I'd like to nominate Anne Marie Grindley for August 'Run of the Month' (Even though she is an associate and not a full member, I assume this will still count?)

Last week as an LV60 Anne Marie completed the Joss Naylor Lakeland Traverse in 17h 20m. Insisting she's "only a walker, not runner" she climbed incredibly well to reach Wasdale well inside her allotted time of 18 hours.

As a bit of background for those newer (i.e. last 25 years!) Clem members, Anne Marie was the first lady member of Clayton, joining in the mid 70's, and was one of those pioneers who helped to get women fell runners taken seriously in what was then an all male domain.

Distance and endurance events were always her forte, and in 1978 she became the second lady to complete the Bob Graham round in an incredible 21hrs 05m. A year later she extended the round to 58 peaks, the most climbed by a woman in sub 24hours, a record which stood for many years. Her other achievements included wins in such gruelling events as The Fellsman Hike, Haworth Hobble (now Wuthering Hike), Karrimor Mountain Marathon A Class and as part of a team in the Derwent Watershed Challenge.

Although Anne Marie gave up 'running' in the early 80's she continued along with husband Will to be a keen walker, and has since completed many long distance footpaths and trails, both in Britain and Europe. This demonstrates how stamina, endurance and determination count as much as speed in this type of event. A fantastic achievement for a 'walker'!

Her supporters included Clayton members Monica Shone, Wendy Dodds, Linda Lord, Will Grindley, Don Talbot, Don Barton, Alistair Patten.

Wrinklies in the USA - Part 5 Near the end I am lying here in our cabin aboard the Queen Mary, 76 000 tons, tied up at Long Beach, looking at the original plumbing and decor when the thought occurs to me , "Do some people not wear pyjamas?" I say this because the other half of the ship have just been wakened in the middle of the night: "Emergency, Emergency! Evacuate ship, Evacuate ship!" Yes folks, half the passengers rushed out of their cabins, down the corridors and out onto the deck. Dave and Jill were in that half. I didn't ask. Long Beach makes Felixstowe look like the new Barden Marina. It is huge and accepts what China and Korea export. Our ship managed 72 crossings of the Atlantic during WW2. The U-boats couldn't catch her at 33 knots. Hitler was not pleased and the Iron Crosses stayed in their boxes.

We had done the Canyons: Goose Neck, Grand, Walnut, Oak Tree; eaten with the Navahos in Monument Valley; been held up by train robbers returning from the Grand Canyon. They stopped the train mid journey, made a little girl cry and relieved me of a dollar. Dave held on to his. Then we were allowed on our way, whilst they re-horsed their horse box and passed us in their 4 by 4.

Back in Flagstaff in Hotel Little America, a brilliant place, we all four had gone for a run on their 2.5 mile trail in the grounds. Everything is big in the USA, not just the people and the ice-creams. So we left (on the 10pm train which was 5 hours late): Flagstaff at 3 am. It wasn't good as breakfast was 6.30. Just three hours " sleep ". The dining car attendant was a lass from Harrogate who remembered the words for Ilkley Moor Baht 'At and gave a quick rendition. You can take the lass out of Yorkshire but not Yorkshire out of the lass. We think of Linda Lord at this point. It was a fun journey. We crossed the Mojave Desert plateau up to which freight trains came from the coast. One had seven diesels on the front - counted by Jill.

Apart from celeb things, LA was not much to shout out about, an urban sprawl. Leaving the ship we made to the station, as usual a beautiful bit of architecture in the Spanish style, using beautiful marbles and woods. We were given our tickets for the trip up the west coast, numbers 65, 66, 67 and 68, which coincided with our ages, so there was a photo opportunity. This was the USA's premier train, the Coast Starlight, going all the way to Seattle. We would leave it at Oakland. We trundled up the Big Sur through famous places and as we didn't have to go to bed it was enjoyable. Squadrons of pelicans flew past. Vandenberg Air Base appeared, so no photos as this was a sensitive region, at least ten miles long and a launching area for satellites and missiles.

It was dark when we arrived in Oakland then across the double-deck Bay Bridge, the same one that had collapsed in the 1990s earthquake. Soon we were across and in San Francisco, a fell runner's paradise, Hendon Brook in a city. Next day we were across the Golden Gate Bridge and on a ferry later to Alcatraz. The cable cars were running and sadly it became time to fly back .. a mere ten and a half hours with no sleep, courtesy of Sir Richard Branson. We've just had another holiday to recover. Where next for the Wrinkly experience? Guernsey has been mentioned, as has Trondheim.

The Walter Wilkinson Memorial Stone

Over recent months the local press has been carrying stories about the planning of a Windfarm on Ossy Moors. One of the Windmills looks to be sited in the exact area in which we have Walt’s ‘Stone’ (which is now made in cast iron after some idiot smashed the original with a hammer). A few members have expressed their concern and as it now seems likely the final plan will be submitted by Energiekontor in October. A further problem may also be that the Company, in liaison with public bodies, are considering a Moor restoration which involves removing grazing and introducing measures to re-wet the peatland. I am hoping to take one of our Saturday runs into the relevant area in early September and remove the stone temporarily. If anyone wishes to be involved in this either contact me on 01254 384885 or [email protected] or monitor the message board (Saturday Training Runs) on the website. If you wish to see the detail of what is planned visit www.hyndburnwindfarm.co.uk. Paul Healey

Bolton Ironman Triathlon

Well done to Paul Hesketh and Steve McNamara who completed the Bolton Ironman Triathlon (2.4 mile swim; 112 mile bike; 26.2 mile run) on 2nd August. Times: Paul: swim 1:23:01; bike 6:07:32; marathon 3:52:07; total 11:35:27. Steve: swim 1:06:12; bike 6:22:49; marathon 4:38:51; total 12:19:07. As Dave Edmondson stated on the website: ‘makes Borrowdale seem like a walk in the park’. Awesome performance by both members!

My Day Out in Langdale with Mad Simon

by Sue Burns

This year I said I would attempt the English Fell championships and do what I could for the ladies’ team. I mentioned to a number of Clayton runners that I had entered the Langdale Horseshoe 14 mile fell race and cannot describe the look of horror that appeared across their faces. Word had obviously got round about my lack of navigation skills. After all this is the runner that got lost on Hambledon Hill and had to be rescued by Keith!!. When I heard from Maureen and Jane that they had bribed (with what I do not know) Mad Simon (Halliday) to show them the route I asked if I could tag along. To me this was a venture into the unknown. The mile climbing at the beginning was enough to ask myself what I was doing there. I was happy to see Stickle Tarn and an area of level ground. At this point Simon chirps up that he is leading a group up here on Saturday to practise some scrambling. Whatever is that I thought to myself? The next thing I knew we had deviated from the race route and embarking on some mountaineering and rock climbing, so now I know what scrambling is . I can only guess we were heading for Harrison Stickle with Simon yelling not to forget our 3

points of contact. Talk about putting the fear of God into me. Strange though it may seem we were being followed at this time by two men and a young boy. Suddenly one of the men mentions that he had been on a navigation weekend with Maureen. Can one not take Maureen Laney anywhere without her meeting someone she knows!! The top at last and check point two. This is where we can run a bit shouts Simon so off we go. Simon and Maureen set off followed by Jane and me permanently bringing up the rear. However this running bit round Black Crags and down to Angle Tarn consists of a good deal of Bog. Jane can confirm this, as before my eyes her foot sank into it, then her leg and finally she was in up to her crotch in mud. Poor Jane, but it was hard not to laugh. I missed Maureen taking a tumble somewhere and having to beg a plaster from some fellow walkers. Not to be put off we began the climb to Esk Hause Shelter. I really was beginning to wish I had not competed in the Whalley Nab two days prior to this escapade. We finally found the correct line from the shelter and headed for Bowfell Summit. Not sure I would ever get there on my own but with plenty more clambering over boulders climbing up rocks I finally made it. All Simon could talk about now was that we were heading for Crinkle Crags and the bad step. However we were not to worry, as he knew of a good way round it. True to his word he did but don’t ask me how he did it but we veered off the route at the appropriate time and avoided the step. I thought I would remember how he did it but on reflection I definitely can’t. I was shown a glimpse looking back of some amazing 10 foot drop, something I definitely could not have encountered. Not much further he shouts, so when we got to the bottom of Blisco not in my wildest dreams did I think we had to go up it. I really did have no idea of the route. Up and over we went but by mistake we took the tourist route down completely missing the cattle grid check- point. It was now near enough five hours since I had seen the car so any short cut was welcome and a bit of road running a delight. All I could think about was making it in time for my meal and the Fence Gate and Jane was going to the Eagle. So well done Simon for escorting 3 ladies round Langdale and to my dear friend Jane who said Simon only agreed to take me because of all the publicity he would get. She said I would be moaning to the world that this was no running race but a test of navigation and mountaineering skills - a massive climb with a bit of descending; a far cry from Pendle Hill. So good luck in your new venture Simon (Up and Under to be found on the web) and thanks a lot. I would also like to extend my thanks to Katie and everyone else who has since attempted to escort me round the Langdale Horseshoe predominantly in the pouring rain, howling wind and lots of mist. In fact since that day the weather conditions have been so bad we have only completed the route in sections and I am amazed I arrived safely back each time. I am now going to book myself on a navigation weekend but have decided I don’t think the Lakeland fells are my forte, but weather permitting on 10 October I will give it my best shot. However if anyone is volunteering to escort me round prior to or on race day I am open to offers! (Thanks for a most illuminating account of the Langdale Horseshoe route, Sue. Best of luck on 10th October—depending on the weather, you may need it.)

Covering Old Ground

20 years ago (Sept.1989) Ian Campbell had been elected as Newsletter Editor at the recent AGM and produced his first publication. Neil Wilkinson (Walt Wilkinson’s 16 year old son – yes 16!!!) had completed a Bob Graham Round (BGR) in 21 hours 58 minutes. The club organised a relay of the BGR a few weeks earlier involving Ladies, ‘A’, and ‘Z’ teams. Ladies managed 18 hours 21 mins; the ‘A’ 12 hours 28 mins; and The ‘Z’ 14 hours 58 mins. Judy Makinson (Membership sec.) reminded everyone subs were due - £7 Seniors; £2 Juniors). The newsletter contained my report of the first ever Tour of Hameldon Race (it seems it is the 20th anniversary this year – I didn’t think I was that old!). In the results Mark Aspinall of Rossendale won the Colne 11, the Colne 7, and the Hendon Brook Half M (L.Batty was first lady and Mick Targett first vet). Pete McWade won the Mytholmroyd FR. Dave Nuttall managed 8th in the Jura race. Cheryl Cook was first lady at Great Hill and Judy Makinson first at the Five Cloughs. 15 years ago (Sept.1994) Gwilym Williams wrote - Mark Brown returned from the European Athletics Championship in Berlin with a well-earned Bronze Medal in the 10,000 metres. This was Mark’s first race as an international for his country. The Dream Team consisting of David Bailey & Les Jackson; Martin Brady & Ian Campbell; Ken Richardson & Frank Gee; Keiron Ashworth & Peter Hughes; Peter Brady & Paul Rogan; undertook the Cumbria Way Relay (in the absence of any other challengers). They managed 12 hours 46 minutes for the 70 miles from Carlisle to Ulverston. In the results:- Mick Wrigley managed first V50 in the Hendon Brook whilst Jean Rawlinson was first lady and Jack Riley first V70. At Widdop Barry Mitchell was first V40 whilst Steve Breckell took the similar honour at Downham ahead of first V50 – Ian Beverley; Jean Rawlinson again achieved pride of place. In the Walloper Well, Pete McWade took the honours for first and first vet. In the Barley Race Pete McWade and Jean Rawlinson led their respective fields (Jean also took the honours at Whittle Pike, the Rossendale, Blackstone Edge, and Five Cloughs). Pete McWade took the vets honours in the Five Cloughs. In the Summer Series Bowley Hill Race (which was then an open event) John Singleton took the veteran honours and Linda Lord led the ladies; Tony Peacock was first V50. At the Tour of Hameldon the winner was Simon Thompson with Steve Breckell V40, Lawrence Sullivan V50, Linda Lord FV35. 10 years ago (Sept.1999) Steve Breckell wrote – I think truly amateur sport is a wonderful past-time…..not so professional sport with the greedy and inflated wages; drug taking and ill mannered people. I’m glad I’m a member of CleM and be part of a truly honest amateur club.

(Sorry Steve I’ve used a bit of licence in editing your article.) It was reported – Tony Riley has provided a memorial stone to Walt (Wilkinson). We intend to erect the stone In ‘Walt’s Back Garden’ (Oswaldtwistle Moors) on Tuesday 14th September when we run from the Plough Hotel – everyone is welcome. In the results:- In the Burnley Boys Race – Roger Brewster was first V40 and Ted Orrell first V60; at Aggie’s Staircase Pete McWade was first V50 and Vanessa Peacock first Lady. In the Hendon Brook Tony Chew took the honours, first Vet Alan Clarkson, first lady Vanessa Peacock and Ted Orrell V60. Ted also took the honours in the Freckleton Half M. In the Bentham 10 Pete Butterworth was first V45; Doug Brown V60, Kevin O’Brien V55. Tina Lewis won the Women’s Race for Life at Witton. In the Colne Lions Paul Brannon took the veteran honours with Barry Mitchell first V50 and Ted Orrell V60 – Jack Riley was first V75. Mark Brown finished the Blackpool Marathon in second place in 2.40.15. In the Ennerdale FR, Lee Thompson was second, and Keiran Carr first vet. 5 years ago (Sept. 2004) Marie Greenwood wrote:- Well here it is my final newsletter! I have had fun….the controversial issues were the most fun…. members want different things from the newsletter. Some think it should be used as a personal sounding off board – some are totally against this. I have heard moans and groans about the content….but these always seem to come from members who never send contributions….and it can only be as good as the contributions…. Results:- Whittle Pike first lady Vanessa Peacock (and first LV50)

Paul Healey Paul kindly volunteered to revive ‘Covering Old Ground’, which was a feature of the Newsletter in days of yore. Don’t you think it’s kind of him to remind the more aged members of the Club how quickly time is passing? Personally, I’m far too young to remember any of these events! Incidentally, Marie’s comment about contributions is spot on.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FELL RACES Ingleborough—11th July

Chipping Show- 22nd August 43 CleM members arrived at Ingleton Sports’ Ground to take part in the second counter in the Club fell championships. The strong breeze pushed 240 runners up the hill and gave confidence on the steep descent as we left the Ingleborough plateau. Jamie Baldwin led the way to claim an excellent 8th place, closely followed by Gary Shaw (11th), Dave Walker (13th) and Andy Orr(14th). First CleM vet was Alan Life (18th; 2nd V40), while Brian Horrocks was our leading V50 in 26th place (3rd V50), with Chairman John in 32nd place. El Presidente was our first V60, in 155th place (3rd V60). In the ladies’ race, Irene Roche finished in 162nd place and was our first counter, just 11 seconds, and 2 places ahead of Carol Life, with Katy Thompson in third place (175th overall). Honourable mention must go to ’road runners’ Barry Brock and Tony ’I’m Only Here for the Beer’ Walker, who supported the club on unfamiliar terrain. Well done also to Deborah Armstrong who, I think, completed her very first fell race—certainly her first in a Clayton vest.

5 weeks later, another warm and breezy day saw 40 members make up nearly half the field at Chipping Show. Heavy going across the fields to Fell Foot, followed by the steep climb to Fiendsdale Head, the drag up Parlick & the return across the soggy pastures tested us all to the limit. Again, Jamie Baldwin rose to the challenge, improving on his Ingleborough result to finish in second place. Clem runners filled the places from 5th to 10th, giving us 7 out of the top 10 places: 5th Stuart Fogg, 6th Andy Orr, 7th Chris Balderson, 8th Dave Edmondson, 9th Alan Life and 10th Mark Aspinall. Jack Dugdale (12th) was first U23 and Brian Horrocks (15th) took the V50 prize. Ladies’ Road Captain, Tracy, ran really well to finish in 3rd place (34th overall), while Wendy Dodds (54th), Jean Rawlinson (71st) and Linda Lord (73rd) all won their age groups. El Pres was 2nd V60 (59th) and Tony IOHB again completed the course. We’ll make a fell runner of him yet! These two results take Jamie Baldwin to the lead in the Club Fell championships, with a 6 point cushion over Alan Life, who is first V40, closely followed by Dave Edmondson and Neil Worswick. Boothy is currently leading the V50 category (though Brian Horrocks and others have done only 2 races) and Dave Scott stands proudly at the head of the V60 listings. Despite her 100% record in 2 races, Tracy Mitchell is second in the ladies’ championships, behind Carol Life who has done all 3. Wendy Dodds holds a 2 point advantage over Irene Roche in the LV50 category, while Karin Goss currently leads the LV60s. With 2 more races to go, there’s a chance for those members who have done only one or two of the races to date, to play catch-up.

5000m Track Race 27th August 2009

20 members, including 6-year-old Isaac Wilkinson, took part in this year’s race. From the start three runners: formed the leading group, which stayed together for about 8 laps, when Phil Hall slipped back, leaving Gary Shaw and Paul Thompson contesting the lead. On the final lap, Gary found enough to drop Paul, who had finished 2nd in the Sedbergh Hills FR (13 miles 6000+ feet of ascent) 5 days previously, and open a margin of 5 seconds at the finish. Dawn Richards was the first lady to finish, while Ivan Wigham was this year’s poor unfortunate who ran an extra lap owing to the incompetence of the lap counters. Kathryn will have to work on her sprint finish if she wants to keep up with Isaac!

GREAT HAMELDON HILL RACE PRESENTATION (See Cover Photograph)

The Great Hameldon Hill Fell Race celebrated its 30th Anniversary this year in May. Back in 1979 the race course was much different than that of today, being a classic 5 miles Up and Down with 1000 feet of climbing. Two Clayton runners, Harry Manning and Sue Allen competed in both events and the organising group decided to mark their achievement with the award of commemorative plaques. In 1979 there were 306 finishers including 17 Ladies. Harry Manning had just turned a Vet and finished 91st in 33 minutes 51 seconds (11th in the vet class). Sue Allen, then 19 years of age, finished in 302nd place (14th Lady) in a time of 57 minutes 25 seconds. This year 170 runners completed the 6 miles route, and Harry, now a V70, finished in 152nd place in 68 minutes. Sue, rapidly approaching another milestone in the Veteran classes, finished 160th in a time of 73 minutes 37 seconds (27th out of 30 Ladies).

COMMITTEE NEWS

17th August 2009

12 members were in attendance. The main points of discussion and decisions were:

• AGM: Pete B was to formulate a proposal for the AGM to amend Para 6 (i) of the Constitution regarding the amateur status of members. In Mike’s Absence, Pete was to prepare the Agenda, forward it to John for approval and then to Jim for printing. Martin to put an updated list of Committee vacancies on the website. A review of Committee posts and responsibilities would be undertaken at the new Committee’s first meeting.

• Entry for Northern 6 Stage Road Relay: New Road Captain to sort out following AGM.

• Website: Concerns re inappropriate comments on the Message Board (again!). Martin was to try to make access ‘members only’ while keeping thread highlights on the front page, so members alerted to up-to-date messages.

• Mid Lancs XC League: Richard informed us about changes proposed for Fixtures Meeting on 19th Aug. We were to oppose a reduction/change in fixtures, but voted to support a motion that a vet runner’s age group would be decided by age on date of first meeting of season.

• John closed the meeting by thanking members for their hard work and support during his 2 years’ tenure of Chairmanship and assured the Committee that he intended to continue with his coaching role.

Date of Next Meeting: would be decided at the AGM

MESSAGE FROM CROSS COUNTRY CAPTAINS

We have again entered both the Mid Lancs and the Red Rose Cross Country Leagues this year. If you intend to compete, you will need TWO numbers: one for each League. If you ran cross-country last season, you will automatically be issued with numbers for the coming season and we will hopefully get them to you to before the first race. If not, you will be able to collect your number(s) at the first fixture (3rd Oct, Bury for Red Rose; 10th Oct, Kendal for Mid Lancs, see below)

PLEASE KEEP YOUR NUMBERS FOR THE WHOLE SEASON DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY AFTER THE FIRST RACE

You will need to re-use them throughout the season. If you didn’t compete last season, or if you are completely new to cross country and intend to run, please let us know well in advance of the first race, so we can get you a number

Hope to see you all on the country.
