assembly area, which is most easily achieved by raplac-

Replacement procedure
Remove the rubber cushions (139). (0)
If the rubber cushions (1 39) in the figure ara provided
with spacer sheets (143), ensure that the sheets are not
dameged while removing the cushions.

After the head slide section has been replacad, meke
sura that the head slide does not rest upon the post pin
of the take-up move gear (213) when the new section is

(e) RePlecing the click swing wire (1 16)(1) Align the topmost tooth with the timing mark on the
head rotary gear (1 14), and attach the sector lever(112).
(2) Mount the head click spring wire (1 16) in the forwardmode in the sequence of @ and @,
(3) Change over to the reverse mode, and check that the
wire is as shown in the ficwre.

REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTARY HEAD. When replacing the heads, check Rotary Head
that the soldered area on the rotary (102,103)head and the lead wires are rein-
forced by an adhesive (Cemedine). Cemedine (#575)
Align the projection in the rotor with the erase heed side
of the rotary head, and screw them together (using 2Twist these stands two or
screws).three times.
Apply the TB- 1401 B thread-lock agent to the areas
shown in the figure to lock them into place.
To loosen the screws securing the head or to stop play
(reverse), set the mode to play (forward).In the play mode, the head slide will move forward.
Ensure that the bundled wires have some leeway at this
point.

(1) After replacement, demagnetize the heads by using a degaukser.(2) Be sure to clean the heads before attempting to make any adjustments,~3) Be sum both channels (1 and 2) are the same level [Using a dual-channel oscilloscope.)(4) All wiring should be returned to the original position after work is completed.

(1) Load a test tape (VTT-703etc., : 10kHz) in TapeDeck “ A “.
(2) Press the PLAY (>) button (normal playback).(3) Use a flat-tip (-) screwdriver to turn the screw for
normal azimuth adjustment so that the left and right
outputs are maximized at the same phase during nor-
mal playback).
(4) Press the tape PLAY [<) button [reverse play-back).[5) Play the tape in the reverse mode.(6) Use a flat-tip( - ) screwdriver to turn the screw for
reverse azimuth adjustment so that the left and rightoutputs are maximized at the same phase duringreverse playback,
[7) Press the STOP button.
[8) Repeat step (2) - [7).

2. During aligment,mesurement Beat cancel SW is at 1 condition fundamentally,cf m. R/P frequency
characteristic,dolby effect also by 2 condition, when ship out set SW to 1 position.
3.Gripe the lead wire of E head ( :surface of the wire cover.)
*Operate the Mechanism with the normal speed.Tape Speed AdjustmentBegin from the high speed in Motor speed adjustment.
1) Set the testtape.TCW-211 (or equivalent) to R/P mechanism(/TAPE B).
Adjustment should be made at the center portion (FWD Play) on the tape.
2) Play the mechanism in FWD Play.
3) Short the high speed test pinto the high speed portion. (by the clip.)
4) Confirm sothat a frequency counter reading of high speed become 3000Hz f 10% at the center positionin Deck 2.
5) After the high speed adjustment,open the high speed test pin.
6) Stop the mechanism drive.7) Set the test tape. MTT-l 11(or equivalent) to Pmechanism(TAPE A)
Adjustment should be made at the center portion (FWD Play) on the tape.
8) Playthe Mechanism(FWD Play).
9) Adjust SVR51sothat a frequency counter reading become less301OHZ* 10HZ in Deck 1 near the FWD Playtape center.
10) Confirm sothat a frequency counter reading of the speed difference between TAPE A and TAPE B become
“(TAPE A) - (TAPE B) = + 50-- 50Hz” .12) Stop the mechanism drive.
Note: Prior the mesurements,clean the head,capstan and pinch roller.

b) Eachtime the CHAPTERSTOPkey is pressed, the CHAPTER STOP indicator
must alternately light or go out.
4)SEARCH,SKIP,inspection
a) The SEARCHkey must be capable of causingthe pickup to searchtracks in both the forwardand reverse directions.
b) The SKIPkey must be capable of causingthe pickup to skiptracks in both the
forward and reversedirections.5)REPEAT,CLEAR, inspection
a) Pressingthe single REPEATkey must causethe repeat indicator to flash. thenPressthe CLEARkey to go out.
b) Pressing the A - B REPEAT key must cause the repeat indicator to flash..pressing it once again must cause the flashing indication to change to a steady
indication .Then press the CLEAR key to go out.
6) DIGITAL, PLAY, MONITOR, inspection
a) Each time the DIGITAL PLAY KEY key is pressed, the STEREO indicator must alternatelylight or go out.
b) Each time the MONITOR key is pressed, the STEREO indicators must light as follows: Land R lit+Llit +Rlit +Land Rlit, and soon.

a) Pressonce the STOP key to stop.Once again, press the STOP key to open the disc tray.

b) Replacethe 30 cm discwith a 12 cm compact disc,then pressthe OPEN/CLOSE
key to closethe tray. Confirm that the LDand CD/CDVindicators flash sixtimes
,then the words TOC CHECKappear on the screen. Subsequently, the CD/CDVindicator alone must light, then play must start automatically from the first track.
c) Pressthe ON SCREENkey 2 times. then REMAIN indicator must light on.Next press the ON SCREENkey then confirm so that REMAIN indicator. go out and TOTAL
indicator.light on. Once again press the ON SCREENkey ,TOTAL indicator. must go out.
I. Specialinspection1) Remote control inspection
a) Pressthe PRGRAM key of the remote control ler,then the PROGRAM indicator must Iight on,b) Pressthe CLEAR key of the remote control ler,then the PROGRAM indicator must go out.
2) Syncro record inspectiona) Pressthe OPEN/CLOSEkey to open the disc tray.b) Insert the cassette tape to the Deck 2, then turn to the REC/PAUSE.c) Confirm that the KARAOKE sw is set to MUSIC,then pressthe OPEN/CLOSEkey to close
the disc tray.d) The deck must start recording after both the LD and CD/CDV indicator have flash
8 times.e) Pressingthe PLAY/PAUSEkey on the set must cause the RECJPAUSEmode in the deck.f) Pressing the PLAY/PAUSE key once again must cause the REC/PAUSE mode in the deck
,then the MDP becomes to PIAY mode.g) ;~e CHAPTERSTOP indicator must light when the KAW40KE sw is set to the KARAOKE
A pause or play operation of the MDP must take place without any response from thedeck, even when the above operation is carried out.Confirm so that the KARAOKE sw is setto MUSIC,then the CHAPTERSTOP indicator goout.
3) Disc protect inspectiona)The power to the MDP must be cut off immediately

e) Pressthe LD/CD sw so that the function selector set to LD/CD,then play the 30 cm disc.f) By pressing the power SW,fluorescent tube(FL). must go out immediately, however the power
to the MDP must remain on for about eight to eleven seconds.g) Pressthe power sw on,then pressthe OPEN/CLOSEsw to open the disc tray,and remove the
30 cm disc.h) Pressthe OPEN/CLOSEsw to close the disc tray,then pressthe power sw when the following
indication appears on the screen.The FL must go out and also the power to the MDP mustbe cut off immediately.
