PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. Includes all signs required for this project.
B. Provide final design for all signs based on the designdirection in the DESIGN INTENT drawings.
C. Provide all permits, labor, materials and mountinghardware for all signs.
D. Install all signs.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Comply with local sign code.
B. Comply with ADA requirements.
C. All signs and materials must have an effective life ofat least 10 years.
D. Engineer all signs to meet or exceed all local buildingcodes.
E. All Sign Graphics: All sign graphics are to be computergenerated and cut. Hand rendered and/or hand cutgraphics are not acceptable.
F. Final Design Documents: Owner will provide electronicfiles of the DESIGN INTENT drawings for theproduction of final design documents.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit the following items for approval. Submittalsare to be made to Urban Partners for approval. Allow1 week for review of all submittals.
B. Submit final design/shop drawings for all signs forthis project. Show all construction details, includingfootings, attachments and mountings. Clearly markany variations from the DESIGN INTENT drawings.
C. Submit prototypes of signs specified in notes as wellas materials samples of all exposed materials, includingpaint, metal finishes, vinyl, and other materials, forapproval.
D. Submit catalog cuts of any pre-manufacturedmaterials, including extruded components, etc.
E. Completed Product: Upon approval of all samples ofsign components, notify designer/project manager15 days prior to 90% completion of shop fabrication,so that the work may be observed prior to installationof job.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 ALL SIGNS
A. All materials are as specified in the DESIGN INTENTdrawings. Where not specified, provide specificationsin the shop drawings.
B. Structural Frame: The framework of all signs shallhave sufficient strength and rigidity to support theweight and horizontal loads (earthquake) of the entiresign assembly, from mounting points located asindicated in the drawings, without noticeabledeformation due to deflection or warping of any partof the assembly. Separate aluminum from steel withsuitable paint, galvanizing or dialectic separation.
C. Aluminum: All exposed surface area to be paintedas noted on drawings. All pieces shall be true, square,and free from warping, bending, blemishes andscratches.
D. Acrylic: Acrylic sheets must not discolor with age orunder conditions of normal light, cold, heat, andmoisture of exterior weather. Outside exposedsurfaces of sign faces shall have a matte finish andbe scratch-resistant. Exposed edges or cut-outs shallbe true and smooth and have sharp interior corners.
E. Vinyl Film Graphics: Vinyl film graphics and/orbackgrounds shall be placed as noted in the drawings.Vinyl to be applied only by mechanics skilled in vinylapplication and experienced in producing high-classwork. Applied vinyl film shall be free of air bubbles,dirt and dust bubbles, lines shall be accurately andsharply cut by computerized cutting equipment,tightly seamed, and applied per manufacturersspecifications. All vinyl film shall be 3M brand.
F. Screen Printing: All screen printing inks used shall beof the highest quality available to ensure uniformcolor, longevity, fade-resistance, and overallperformance. Screen printed signs to be free of airbubbles, dirt and dust bubbles, evenly calendered,precisely registered, and have sharp, clean lines.
G. Paint: All paint used shall be Mathews AcrylicPolyurethane to ensure uniform color, longevity, fade-resistance, and overall performance.
H. Fasteners:
1. Type: Recommended by manufacturer for conditionsof use as indicated.
2. Material: Galvanically compatible with adjacent materials.
3. Finish: Where exposed to view - match adjacent
material. Where concealed - fabricator's choice.PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that mounting surfaces to receive work of thisSection are properly prepared. Do not start work untilconditions are satisfactory.
B. Field verify all dimensions prior to fabrication of allsigns.
C. Coordinate at least 1 shop inspection of all signs inprogress, with designer/project manager.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Protect against damage and discoloration caused bywork of this Section.
3.3 FABRICATION
A. Accomplish fabrication of all metal parts in a uniformand "first class" manner. All joints and seams in theexposed cladding shall be precise and tight fitting.Separate aluminum from steel with suitable paint,bituminous gasket or galvanizing.
B. All items shall be fabricated to comply with wind loading and other requirements of U.B.C. and otherapplicable codes.
3.4 PAINT APPLICATION
A. General: All paint shall be applied in accordance withthe manufacturer’s recommendation.
B. Sign Painting: The painting of signs shall be performedonly by mechanics skilled in painting and experiencedin producing high-class work. Lines shall be sharplycut.
1. The shop conditions of the sign manufacturer shallbe clean, free of air dust, and of proper temperature.
2. Apply shop painting by spraying except where inaccessible surfaces require brushing. Protect adjoining or adjacent surfaces against any discoloration.
3. Unless otherwise noted in the drawings or wall mounted signs, the reverse side of signs shall befinished to match front side of sign.
C. Color: Shall be as indicated on the DESIGN INTENTdrawings. Colors for additional sign types shall followthe intent of the DESIGN INTENT drawings.
3.5 INSTALLATION
A. General: Locate sign units and accessories whereshown or as determined by designer/project managerafter walk-through of built site, using mountingmethods of the type described. Verify suitability ofall locations with local code requirements, utilities,etc.. Install sign units level, plumb and at the heightindicated, with sign surfaces free from distortion orother defects in appearance.
B. Wall Mounted Signs: Attach sign panels to wallsurfaces using liquid silicone adhesive to attach signunits. Use double-sided vinyl to hold the sign in placeuntil the adhesive has fully cured.
C. Coordinate and verify all scheduling, field work,delivery and installation activities with owner.
D. Verify all finished grade conditions and sign heightswith owner.
E. Coordinate with all other trade for installation ofsigns to finish surfaces and conditions. Repair orreplace damaged signs as directed by owner.
F. Signs will be paid for on an installed basis per sign,except those signs that are to be furnished anddelivered will be paid on a delivered basis per sign.

1. Remove foreign matter from victim’s mouth.
2. Place victim face down -- bend his elbows -- placehis hands one upon the other.
3. T urn victim's head slightly to one side -- place it onhis hands. Extend victim's head as far as possible withchin in jutting out position.
4. Kneel at head of victim. Place your hands on thevictim's back with your palms just below imaginary linerunning between victim's armpits.
5. Rock forward d on your arms until they are vertical,allowing your upper body weight to exert steadypressur e upon your hands.
6. Immediately draw victim's arms upward and towardyou until you feel resistance and tension at victim'sshoulders. Lower victim's arms to the ground.
7. Repeat this cycle 12 times per minute. Checkvictim's mouth frequently for obstruction.
8. If a second rescuer is available, he should holdvictim's head in place with his chin in a juttingout position.
CHEST PRESSURE ARM LIFT (SILVESTER)
1. Remove foreign matter from victim’s mouth.
2. Lay victim flat -- face up. Prop shoulders to raise themand allow head to drop back.
3. Kneel at victim's head. Grasp victim's arms at wrists,cross them and press firmly over the lower chest, forcingair from the lungs.
4. Immediately release pressure. Pull victim’s arms outwardand upward and backward as far as possible over victim’shead, forcing air into the lungs.
5. Repeat cycle 12 times per minute. Check mouth frequentlyfor obstructions.
6. Keep victim's hand extended and turned to one side. Ifsecond r escuer is available, he should hold victim's head withjaw in jutting out position. Continue to check mouth forstomach contents.
