General•SerendipityBayResort is a privately owned facility. The facility is not a permanent residents’ park. Management reserves

the right to refuse or discontinue service to anyone, at any time, for any reason. Management reserves the right to limit the length of stay, number of persons per site and the number of vehicles per site per party.•Boatsandcamping unit must be in good mechanical repair and condition, and must not be unsightly.•Quiethours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Disruptive noise is not permitted at any time.•Soliciting and commercial activities are not permitted in the Resort without approval from the Manager. Camping units and

boats designed or modified for commercial purposes are not permitted.•Parents/guardians are responsible for the actions of their children. Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult

Occupancy is limited to registered guests.

Visitors must register with the Office and pay applicable extra guest charge.•Please maintain your slip/site in a clean, neat and orderly manner. Items stored outdoors should be

kept to a minimum, not be unsightly and not cause any electrical fire, or other potential hazard. Management reserves final authority regarding items that will be allowed.

•Storage sheds, decks, permanent awnings and alterations to your RV site or boat slips are not permitted. Covers designed to protect RV or boat from the elements must be commercially manufactured products.

•Please help us maintain our vegetation by not placing carpets or parking on the grass.•Generators are not permitted and should not be operated in the Resort.•Clotheslines are permitted provided that they are attached solely to the back of your RV, that they do not

interfere with other campers and that they are not unsightly. You will be asked to remove any clothesline that is not in compliance with this guideline.

Pets•Pets are allowed in the Resort subject to certain restrictions and regulations. Pet owners are provided

a copy of these restrictions and regulations at check-in.

So Many Things to See and Do …You have chosen one of the most beautiful areas to come to and visit, Matagorda County. Ever wondered about the name Matagorda? Early Spanish settlers coined that name, meaning “thick brush,” referring to the dense canebrakes that once lined the shores here.

This area has something for everybody’s interest. If you like boating, there is plenty of it here. The fishing is great, and there are many fishing tournaments throughout the year. More species of birds can be seen in this area, than many others, so bring your binoculars and let’s go birding. There is no need to feel bored with so much to see and do, but you may have to stay longer!

Here are but a few examples that you can take in and enjoy:Matagorda County Birding Nature Center ~ It spans 34 acres on the Colorado River and has nature trails, gardens, boardwalks, bridges and an outdoor education center. Call for guided tours: 979.245.3336 1025 Hwy 35 West, Bay CityTexas Nature Conservancy’s Mad Island Marsh Preserve near Collegeport. This is where the annual Christmas Bird Count is held. This area provides temporary or permanent nesting and feeding areas for over 300 species of birds. There is also hunting allowed for alligators, feral hogs and waterfowl through special scheduled hunts. Contact: Todd Merendino at 979.244.7634.Texan Marine Education Center ~ located 2 miles west on Highway 35 to Marine Center Drive. It is open year round 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.Perry R. Bass Fish Research Station ~ 5 minutes west of Palacios on Highway 35, follow the signs. Open Monday through Friday 8:00 am till 5:00 pm.South Texas Nuclear Plant ~ 5 miles north on Highway 35, then 10 miles east on FM 521, Palacios. Call first for availability and times: 361.972.3611.

How about spending a day on the Gulf Beach at Matagorda?It is only 30 miles away. Take Highway 35 north to FM 521.

If you are a history buff, you must visit the Matagorda County Museum & Children’s Museum, 2100 Avenue F, Bay City. Did you know that there were already people living in this area in the early Paleo-Indian period (10,000 to 6,000 B.C.)? And the Karankawa Indians, who greeted the early European explorers in the 1600s, were over six feet tall. Their bodies were coated in mud and alligator fat, and they were truly fearsome!

Matagorda also has a fair each year — the Matagorda County Fair Livestock Show and Rodeo. Usually held end of February to early March, it is located on the Fairgrounds on Nichols Road in Bay City. 979.245.2454.

How about a nice relaxing walk along the Palacios Seawall? It stretches across three miles and is very popular. The historic Luther Hotel is along the seafront.Information for the above was obtained from the Matagorda Visitor’s Guide.
