Motivation

Sergey wanted to illustrate the horrors of war.

Both sets of grandparents battled and survived during Nazi Siege of Leningrad 1941 - 44

November 2010,

Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta organized an exhibition of Sergey's work in

France.

While in France, he began work on photos from this country, illustrating their struggles during the war and Nazi occupation.

While Larenkov did not invent the concept of Rephotography, he has applied it in a way that has brought new meaning to historic photos and memories.

Legacy

Sergey Larenkov is still an active “amateur” photographer and lives with his wife and 2 children in St. Petersburg, Russia.

He plans to continue his art of Rephotography, inspiring others in this art form as well Peterhof Palace - Leningrad / St. Petersburg
