Arts & Faith Series The f nest of sacred music and art
Advent Evensong | 7:00 p.m. | Sunday, December 10, 2017Come experience the mystery and meaning of Christmas through inspiring music and poetry in the serene beauty of the LUMC sanctuary. The Chancel Choir will be joined by the fine children’s choir of Littleton UMC, violinist Alexander Raab, pianist Kathy Forsberg and other guests to perform moving contemporary works that celebrate the arrival of the Prince of Peace. Donations will support Littleton charities.
Good Friday Requiem | 7:30 p.m. | Friday, March 30, 2018The Chancel Choir and organist Kathy Forsberg will be joined by a chamber ensemble to perform movements from Bradley Ellingboe’s Requiem. Each of the dramatic, lyrical selections will be presented as a meditative response to one of the seven last words of Jesus in the context of a Good Friday service of darkness.
Arts Festival Weekend | April 27 – 29, 2018The 25th annual LUMC Art Show will open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening before a 7:00 p.m. performance of two original plays by the Encore Players. The art show will be open during Saturday and Sunday performances as well. On Sunday, the show will also be open throughout the morning when worship services will feature festival hymns and anthems with the Littleton Symphony Orchestra.
Queen City Jazz Band | 7:30 p.m. | Friday, October 6, 2017The opening concert of the 25th season features an all-time favorite of our South-Metro audience. Since 1958 the QCJB has been thrilling audiences with the great sounds of the jazz era, including the styles of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver and Ma Rainey. Come early to get a seat and hear one of the most recognized traditional jazz bands in the nation. Free admission.
Romantic Violin Sonatas | 7:30 p.m. | Friday, November 3, 2017Two of the world-class soloists from the College of Music of the University of Colorado at Boulder join together to perform a concert of exquisite works for violin and piano. Violinist Harumi Rhodes and long-time Fine Arts Series favorite, pianist David Korevaar, will perform the sonatas of Beethoven, Janáček and Schumann. Free Admission.
Wind Masterworks | 7:30 p.m. | Friday, January 26, 2018Musicians from the United States Air Force Academy Band have appeared regularly on the series since its inception, but never before like this. Join us for a concert of original masterworks by Mozart, Messiaen, Ponchielli, and Gounod, played by the extraordinary wind and percussion players from Academy Band. This eclectic assortment will to have something for everyone. Free Admission.
