Dorot Series 95/96

The uPVC valves, models 95 (threaded) and 96 (solvent welded) are designed to be used in high-flow irrigation plots and flood tables. The direct installation on-to the PVC pipelines and the optional underground installation, assist in reducing both the installation costs as well as discarding surplus friction-losses by eliminating the use of elbow joints in above-ground installations. Unique diaphragm design generates surge-free closure even at high velocities.Unique hydrodynamic design allows exceptionally low pressure losses at high flow rates, stable regulation from maximal to near zero flows, surge-free closure and simple, minimal maintenance.

Features: • Structural simplicity• Superb hydraulic performance• Offer high resistance to corrosive fluids and can be used

for aggressive media conduction• Light-weight, cost-saving• Minimum maintenance - maximum dependability• Simple to install with slip or threaded PVC connections• May be installed to an underground, soil-coverd pipeline

Operating principle:

The position of the diaphragm is dictated by the volume of water in the control chamber, which is regulated by a pilot-valve in order to maintain a preset pressure or flow value.

When the pressure is relieved from the control chamber, the line pressure at the valve inlet opens the valve.

When inlet pressure is applied to the control chamber the valve closes drip-tight.

Underground ValveInstallation Instructions• For 3” valves, the user should dig a trench

500-550 mm wide.• For 4” valves, the user should dig a trench

600-650 mm wide.• The depth of trenches should beould be at least

800 mm deep to avoid damage from agricultural machinery.

• The bottom of the trench should consist of original soil and be free of stones and other elements larger than 20 mm diameter.

• To cover the valve, the user should use soft soil free of stones.

In undergroerground installation, stainless steell bonnet bolts should be used.(Please order accordingly).

Underground Valve ControlWhen the valve is installed underground, the Control Device (Pilot, 3-Way Valve, Pressure Check Point, Pressure Gauge, Remote Control Accessory) must be installed on a metal column above ground. The command tubes should lead from the valve to the Control and be incased in a 20mm PE Sleeve. Each one of the command tubes should carry a different color or number to distinguish it from the rest. The standard colors and/or numbers go as follows: upstream green (or # 1), downstream white (or # 2), command red (or # 3).

1. Before cementing the pipe into the valve, insert the pipe into the valve and mark the point of complete penetration.

2. Clean the inside of the valve and the outside of the pipe with Methyl Chloride, or at least, sand them down.

3. Apply one layer of cement on the end of the pipe as well as in the valve interior.

4. Insert the pipe into the valve until the marked point is visible and turn the pipe a quarter of a circle. Keep the parts stationary and then place the unit carefully on the ground. This allows the cement to harden. * Remember that in low temperatures, glue hardens at a slower rate, so when the temperature is low be more cautious and allow more time for the cement to harden.

5. If the valve is installed in an open field make sure the valve bonnet is facing up in order to provide better protection.

6. Please use a cement that is recommended by the PVC pipe manufacturer.

Caution - When the temperature is lower than 10 degrees Celsius the uPVC body is more vulnerable to blows and may crack. Cementing in these conditions should be avoided.

Solvent-Welding Instructions

Before starting, follow these steps.1. Make sure that the type of threading in the valve

and in the adapter are the same.2. Apply four layers of Sealing Tape on the thread of

the adapter.3. For a complete seal, it is recommended to apply

a small layer of Silicone (RTV). Apply the layer solely to the threaded part of the valve.

4. To screw the two parts together properly, insert the adapter into the valve and tighten the parts by hand. Then, turn it half a circle with a wrench.

Caution - Extra tightening can cause damage to the valve body.

Threading Instructions

Valve support for above ground installation.• The valve body is sensitive to mechanical forces,

so above ground installation must be supported properly. Such support prevents collapse that may result from unstable soil.

• The supports must stand on solid soil. Place them on both sides of the valve, as close as possible to the valve body.

Installing Valve Support

Valve support for above ground installation.• When the trench wall is of original soil, the user

must lean the T-junction against the wall leaving no space in between.

• During the covering of the trench, the T-junction must be held in place.
