At a glance
Based on our current semi-hermetic product range, with its outstanding advantages and features, as well as our longstan-ding activities and field applications for the transport sector, there is now a perfectly matched compressor series available for subcritical CO2 cascade systems.
Especially suited to supermarket refrigeration applications and industrial refrigeration.Condensing pressures up to 40 bar (relates to approx. 5°C condensing temperature)
Special features:
As Bock compressors are extremely high quality and robust, the coordination with the CO2 is limited primarily to the motor design together with the individual mechanism adjustments as well as small modifications in the valve and seal areas. This permits the greatest possible level of operational safety through the extensive use of tried-and-trusted standard parts. In addition, there are the best possible conditions for economic spare part storage.
Product range:...4 model sizes with 10 capacity stages
CO2 as a refrigerant
Within refrigeration technology, carbon dioxide (CO2) is known by the name R744 and has a long history. It is a colourless gas which liquefies under pressure and has a slightly acidic smell and taste. Carbon dioxide has no ozone depletion potential (ODP=0) and a negligible direct effect on global warming (GWP=1) when used as a refrigerant in closed systems. It is not combustible, is chemically inactive and heavier than air. Carbon dioxide has a narcotic and asphyxiating effect on humans only at higher concentrations. As carbon dioxide is less energy efficient than other refrigerants, recently work has particularly concentrated on optimising plant technology for specific appli-cations. Carbon dioxide is available naturally in large quantities.

Oil
The compressors are equipped with Bock C55E, a special oil filling, which is available directly from Bock. This is a synthetic ester oil with high thermal load resistance, allowing good mi-xing solubility with CO2. It possesses a special additive, which protects the compressors against wear, even when subjected to extreme loads, such as those which exist in CO2 systems. This oil can be used both in transcritical and in subcritical systems.

Notes
Operating limits
Compressor operation is possible within the limits shown on the application diagrams. Please note the coloured areas. Compressor application limits should not be chosen for design purposes or continuous operation.
Restrictions to the operating limits may occur when using the Bock EFC (Electronic Frequency Control). The sample calculati-on on page 17 gives a more detailed explanation.

Performance data
The performance data for CO2 are based on 20 K suction gas superheat without liquid subcooling, at 50 Hz power supply
frequency. These are preliminary values as no uniform reference data are available. Besides which the influence of the oil part on refri-geration performance is largely unknown. Variations cannot be
excluded.
Conversion factor for 60 Hz = 1.2
Maximum allowed operating pressure (HP): 40 barMaximum allowed pressure during stand still periods:27 bar

Tolerance (± 10%) relates to the mean value of the voltage range. Other voltages and current types on request.
Take account of the max. operating current / max. power consumption when designing contactors, leads and fuses. Switches: Service category AC3

Warranty
The warranty concerning semi-hermetic CO2 compressors for subcritical cascade systems is limited on manufacturing errors, because of the generally limited operational experi-ences.
1) Progressively adjustable speed control by means of an external frequency converter (switch box installation) on request.2) Voltage range: ± 10%
