Detection of Lung Cancer at Early Stage—
Most patients with lung cancers are diagnosed at inoperableadvanced stages and prognosis is particularly dismal,with the five year survival rate for stage 3b and stage 4diseases being 5 precent and 1 percent respectively.

Biomarkers:By NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE: Biomarker is abiological molecule found in blood, other body fluids ortissue that is a sign of a normal or abnormal process orof a condition or disease.By CENTER FOR BIOMARKERS IN IMAGING: Biomarkers areAnatomic, Physiologic, biochemical or molecularparameters associated with the presence and severityof specific disease states.By BIOMARKERS CONSORTIUM: Biomarkers arecharacteristics that are objectively measured andevaluated as indicators of normal biological processes,pathogene processes or pharmacology responses totherapeutic intervention.
