PDI PROCEDURES

Before Starting Review these items:

Perfect Delivery documents, especially the information on battery maintenance and tire pressures

Checklist in the PDI and Final Delivery Checklist booklet

Make sure you record the PDI on the appropriate pages of the checklist. The PDI is not done until this bulletin and the checklist are both complete. Note on the repair order any repairs or problems that cannot be fixed within a few minutes.

Remove all PDI items from the trunk, interior, and glove box.

Starting the Engine Without the Backup and Audio Fuses

To lower parasitic draw, the vehicle comes from the factory with the No. 27 BACKUP (10 A) and No. 24 AUDIO (15 A) fuses removed from the main under-hood fuse box. With them removed, the engine will not start when you apply the brake pedal and press the POWER button.

To start the engine with the No. 27 and No. 24 fuses removed, you must do this:

1. Make sure the transmission is in Park. Then, press the POWER button once. The indicator will blink white.

2. Touch the keyless remote to the POWER button. The indicator will go from blinking white to steady white.

Page 4: Service Bulletin 18-004 - testing-public.carmd.com

3. Start the engine by pressing the POWER button while pressing the brake. The indicator will go from steady white to steady red. You must start the engine within 10 seconds of touching the remote to the button.

Get familiar with the jacking and lift points shown below. Use of any other points can cause deformation/damage.

1. Fuel the Vehicle

Make sure the No. 27 BACKUP (10 A) and No. 24 AUDIO (15 A) fuses are installed before filling up the fuel tank (see “Install the Fuses”). If you do it without them installed, the fuel gauge will take much longer than normal to show an accurate reading.

If this happens and you do not want to wait for the fuel gauge to show the correct level, turn the ignition to OFF and let the vehicle sit for 10 minutes. Install the fuse, then turn the ignition to ON. The fuel gauge will show the correct level.

2. Remove the Exterior Protective Coatings

Carefully remove all of the exterior protective coatings. See S/B 03-080, Removal of Protective Coatings During PDI.

Page 5: Service Bulletin 18-004 - testing-public.carmd.com

3. Install the Fuses

To lower battery drain during vehicle shipping, the No. 27 BACKUP (10 A) and No. 24 AUDIO (15 A) fuses are removed from the under-hood fuse box and stored in the center pocket in front of the cup holder.

Make sure you turn the ignition to OFF and wait for at least 1 minute before installing those fuses.

After those fuses are installed, the MIL will come on with DTC P0562 (battery condition monitor module power source circuit unexpected voltage) and DTC P0562 (generator motor control module system low voltage). These DTCs can be cleared only with the HDS. You cannot clear them by disconnecting the 12-volt battery. To clear these DTCs, follow these steps:

1. Connect the HDS to the 16-pin DLC.

2. From the System Selection Menu, select Electric Powertrain/IMA.

3. From the Mode menu, select Check DTCs.

4. Clear all P0562 DTCs.

5. Make sure the MIL is turned off and there is no warning message.

6. Disconnect the HDS.

Vehicle Interior

4. Remove the Interior Protective Coverings

There are several protective coverings on the interior trim pieces and on some areas of the carpet. Carefully remove all of them. Be sure your hands are clean to avoid soiling any surfaces.

If the vehicle has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remove the protective covering by pulling the top toward you. Do not try removing it by pulling the top away and down from you or you will damage the cable reel.

5. Install the Floor Mats

Install the floor mats where they belong. Be sure to place the driver’s floor mat eyelets over the anchors in the floor and turn the knobs clockwise to the lock position.

Under-Hood (Engine Cold)

6. Check the 12-Volt Battery

To ensure long battery life and that the customer gets a fully charged battery, you must check it at these times:

When the vehicle first arrives at the dealership

During the PDI (if done at a later date)

At regular intervals

Just before vehicle delivery

Test the battery with the ED-18 battery tester using S/B 88-023, Battery Testing and Replacement. If the ED-18 does not show GOOD BATTERY, charge the battery with the GR8 battery diagnostic station.

Write down the GOOD BATTERY 10-digit code in the PDI and Final Delivery Checklist booklet. During the PDI, write down the code in the “Under Hood - Engine Cold” section. Then, at vehicle delivery, test the battery again, charge if needed, and write down the new code in the “Final Inspection (At Delivery)” section.

NOTE: Make sure the ED-18 has the latest software installed before using it. See S/B 09-045, ED-18 Battery Tester Update Information.

7. Check PCU Coolant Level

Check the coolant level in the expansion tank. Make sure it is between the MAX mark (A) and MIN mark (B). If the coolant level is at or below the MIN mark, add Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2 to bring it to the MAX mark. Inspect the cooling system for leaks.

12. Start the TPMS Calibration Process

This vehicle has an indirect TPMS. Unlike other systems that directly measure air pressure, an indirect TPMS uses the VSA wheel speed sensors to monitor and compare tire characteristics while driving and determine when one or more tires are significantly underinflated.

To ensure proper operation, you must inflate all four tires to the cold inflation pressures listed on the driver’s doorjamb label and start the TPMS calibration process during the PDI using the applicable procedure below.

Trim Levels with Color Audio

1. With the transmission in Park, turn the ignition to ON.

2. Press and hold the MENU/CLOCK button.

3. Select Settings with the LIST/SELECT knob, then press the knob to enter your selection.

4. Select Vehicle Settings.

5. Select TPMS Calibration.

6. Select Calibrate. Once calibration is started, it will complete on its own.

14. Check Remote Engine Start with Vehicle Feedback

Starting the Power System

NOTE: Make sure all doors, the hood, and the trunk are closed before remotely starting the engine.

Press the Lock button, then, within 5 seconds, press and hold the Remote Engine Start button until the exterior lights blink once. When the engine starts to crank, release the Remote Engine Start button. The exterior lights will blink six times and the power system will stay on for 10 minutes. If the power system did not turn on or the exterior lights did not blink, the remote was not able to communicate with the vehicle.

While the power system is on, the climate control system adjusts the cabin temperature, the security system stays on, and the gauges, exterior lights, and accessories stay off. Press down on the brake pedal and press the POWER button to turn on the gauges, exterior lights, and accessories, and allow you to shift from Park.

Stopping the Power System

The power system will turn off after 10 minutes. If you want to turn off the power system before that time is up, press and hold the Remote Engine Start button for 1 second. The power system will turn off and the exterior lights will blink once. If the power system did not turn off or the exterior lights did not blink, the remote was unable to communicate with the vehicle.

15. Activate the Audio Unit (Trim Levels Without Navigation)

After installing the No. 27 BACKUP (10 A) and No. 24 AUDIO (15 A) fuses, turn the ignition to ON, then press and hold the Power button/VOL knob for at least 2 seconds. This synchronizes the audio unit with the vehicle and initializes the system for use.

NEW MODEL SERVICE INFORMATION

1. Use of Custom License Plate Frames

Because the millimeter wave radar unit is at the lower part of the front bumper, never apply paint, stickers, or non-genuine accessories to the front of the radar unit or its surrounding area. Be particularly careful that a custom license plate frame or other accessory does not block any part of the radar beam’s path. See the online owner’s manual for details.

2. Front Brake Pads

On Continental-type calipers, the front outer brake pads use a double-sided adhesive shim. When replacing the brake pads, the shim comes as part of the brake pad kit and will need replacement as well.

Never try removing the brake pads unless you are replacing them. Once those pads are removed, they cannot be reused and must be replaced.

Page 15: Service Bulletin 18-004 - testing-public.carmd.com

3. Brake Lubricant

When servicing Continental-type front brakes and all rear brakes, be sure to use commercially available ATE Plastilube and apply it only to the specified areas. See the service information for more information.

4. Near Field Communication (NFC)

This feature lets you pair a compatible cell phone to Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® by simply holding it over the NFC touchpoint on the dashboard. See the online owner’s manual and the phone’s user manual for details.

5. Wireless Charging

This feature lets you charge a compatible electronic device without using a cable. Just press and hold the Power button until the green indicator comes on. Then, place the device’s chargeable side on the mark in the charging area. Charging will automatically begin, the amber indicator will come on, and the green indicator will go off. When charging is complete, the green indicator will come back on. Depending on the device, the amber indicator may stay on. See the online owner’s manual for details.

Page 16: Service Bulletin 18-004 - testing-public.carmd.com

6. Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

This feature can recognize speed limit signs and show it on the driver information interface. See the online owner’s manual for details.

7. Over the Air (OTA) System Updating (All Trim Levels Except LX)

As a customer convenience, this vehicle features OTA system updating. It is similar to how cell phones and other electronic devices receive software updates. When a software update is available, you will see a notification on the Display Audio screen. See the online owner’s manual for details.
