1. Incoming Check

1.1 Optical check

• Possible damages (at transport case or else)

• Check soiling grade of filters

1.4 Sensors voltages and matrix check (control menu )

• O2 sensor must show approx 12000 mV ( +/- 2000mV). Value must be stable.

• CO sensor must show approx 0 (+/- 40 mV )

• Check matrix values.

To be able to check the matrix- and analogue values you have to enter the service menu

which can be done as follows:

1. confirm control in the main menu

2. slide the magnet over the read contact (app. 2 cm left of the interface cover)

1.5 Flowing sensors with span gas

• Flow sensors with CO span gas (at least 2-3 minutes for all sensors) -all toxic sensors must have a tolerance of +/- 5 %

-O2 sensors have a tolerance of +/- 0,1 vol.%

• Flow with CO/H2 span gas

� value may not go reverse, otherwise the sensor is defect

• Check CO switch off (manual switch-off)

� switch off CO prior to flowing with span gas

� by new switch on the value should not exceed 50 ppm

� after having reached the end value, the value should not run back

otherwise the sensor is defect

• By instruments for chimney-sweepers the CO sensor must additionally be checked with

a approx 1700 ppm concentration

• If needed be calibrate with different span gases

� Caution: Always apply span gas pressure free!


1.6 Check of accessories

• Check probe (type SCD)

• Check sampling probe (type SCD)

• Check possible damages at connectors

• Dismount probe pipe and check tight position of thermocouple

• Check shifting ability of cone along pipe

• Check tubing (damages/cracks?)

• Check possible soiling and corrosion state of condensation trap

• Check possible cracks on water trap bowl

2. Single Steps for Disassembly and Re-building

2.1 Dismount instrument

• Loosen the screws at the bottom side of the

case and take out the instrument

• Loosen the screws down at the left and right

side of the instrument and open the

instrument

• by loosen the black riveting the instrument

can be dismantled in two parts

• Check O2 sensor on humidity and possible

leak

• Release sensors (if necessary)

• Release tubing (if necessary)

• Blow through gas channel plate with compressed air

• Renew the tubing of internal filters


2.2 Clean the pump

• If needed be dismantle and clean housing of the peristaltic pump

• loosen pump body of the gas pump

• Check wearing state of seal and membrane

• Check soiling state of pump body and clean

• Re-assemble the measurement gas pump

2.3 Change the printer unit

• loosen the two screws

• take out carefully the printer

(confection at the unit)

• re-assemble the printer unit and carefully

• fix the screws (finger-tightened)

2.4 Control the condensation trap or gas cooler • Dismount condensation trap

• � after loosen the condense body the circlip

• has to be removed and the POM part has

• to be beaten off the cooling body

Seals clean with acid-free grease


• Attention: special care must be taken for the cable.

• The gas cooler is constructed the

same way. The only difference is the

build in peltier element and the fan

which is situated above the cooling

body.

2.5 Check of accessories

3. Details About some Specific Components

Gas probe (type SCD) with 3-chamber tubing: • Performs the gas temperature and provides with a frictionless passing of the gas � Therefore always keep clean probe and tubing! • Draught measurement

Condensation trap:

• Also responsible for the frictionless passing of the gas

• serve for the admission of the humidity of the waste gas

• Furthermore it secures the condensation evacuation (error message) � Therefore always keep clean the condensation trap!

Gas pump:

• Low pressure must achieve 0,6 bar at a minimum

• Low pressure must remain constant � if not ascertained, measurement drifts can be the consequence • Sucking in the gas

Analogue values:

• The values in the service menu in sub point “Analogues values” are itemised labelled

Matrix:

• The values in the service menu in sub point “Matrix” are itemised labelled

� The CO% value must be in the matrix on 20000 (Only after upgrad a CO% sensor, and on each of the 3 pages)

Sensors:

• As a precaution the O2 sensor should be changed every 3,5 years

• Every 4 years should be recommended to change the CO sensor (Depends on the

working time of the CO sensor in ppm)

• Further special features:

• Screenshot by long simultaneous pressing of “store” and “Print”

• Error messages for T-room and T-gas can be ignored by pressing Key ESC


4. Frequent Errors and Their Identification

The model EN2 offers the possibility to print out error codes which enable to trace which error has been displayed last while the customer operated the instrument. The error history of the EN2 can be printed by selecting in the extended service menu the point PRINT (in the display of the operating hours, error counter etc). 5.1 Activation of ANA Board version Swiss:

- Resistor R12 changes from 1K Ohm to 10 k Ohm.

5.2 EN2–R (with Soot Measurement)

• Works also in accumulator mode

• Probe heating starts automatically as soon as following conditions are complied with:

1. You are in the mode „Soot“

2. A fuel type for soot measurement has been selected (for example oil)

• No software change necessary

• Difference to standard EN2:

1. Circuit board is new (will be detected automatically)

2. Transport case is deeper

3. Heated probe

• Attention: The retrofitting of a standard EN2 is not possible!!!

5.2 EN2 with TRGI

• Retrofitting just for TRGI is possible for all EN2 instruments.

• No software change necessary.

• You need a under case with all the material necessary (e.eg. UNO).

5.3 EN2 - F (FFFFlight case)light case)light case)light case)

• condensate trap must be set in upper position, otherwise you get the error message

• device with lithium-ion battery (extended battery life)

• Unit can be retrofitted with Bluetooth for remote control "Ecom R"

6. Outgoing Check

6.1 Initialisation

- Switch on the instrument on battery (without accessories)

- Connect mains charger

- Check error messages

- Does the error message „T-Gas sensor“ appear?

- Connect T-Gas sensor

- Does the error message „T-Gas sensor“ disappear?

- Does the error message „T-Air sensor“ appear?

- Connect T-Air sensor

- Does the error message „T-Air sensor“ disappear?

- Does the error message „Connect condensation trap“ appear?

- Connect plug of condensation trap

- Does the error message „Connect condensation trap“ disappear?

- Check possible loose contacts at T-Gas and T-Air sensors

- Check matrix values (are all 3 temperature values available?)

6.2 Function check

- Check value with 84 °C (+/- 1 °C)

- Check value with 222 °C (+/- 1 °C)

• Compare T-Air with T-Gas value (place the two sensors side by side)

� Wait for termination of stabilisation time of 3 minutes


• Compare values and, if need be, adjust T-Air on T-Gas value

• Calibrate and check draught measurement

• Connect draught tubing and check (does the draught sensor react when air is blown

thru the probe?)

• if necessary calibrate soot measurement

• volume control equipment (1,63 l < 1min)

6.4 Flowing sensors with span gas and adjustment

• These setting will be done in the service menu

• Perform new calibration phase

• Flow CO sensor with span gas and adjust if need be

� Wait for termination of 3 mn stabilisation time

• Issue a printout as record for service centre (piece of evidence in case of later claim)

• Issue a printout as record for customer

• Check CO switch-off (switch on the fresh air pump manually prior to flow with COH2

gas)

• Flow with COH2 span gas and check

� By 2,5 % O2 switch off the fresh air pump � The CO value should not exceed 50 ppm � Wait for termination of stabilisation time of 3 minutes

• Issue a printout as record for the customer

• If installed, perform this procedure also for other sensors

• Issue a printout as record for the customer

• If needed be calibrate with different span gas

6.5 Completion

• Zero the operation counter by a maintenance or instrument cleaning � go to the service menu and when the operating hours are displayed put a 100 Ohm resistor in the t-room socket and press „F2“ By this the operation hours, the CO-fresh air purging and the measuring cycles are set to zero.

Put 150 Ohm resistor into the t-room socket and press “F2” to reset the overall operating hours to zero!

� Attention: service date will be set to the new date!

• Install instrument in its transport case

• Check instrument completeness (incl. accessories)


6.6 Check Setup Settings

� for all settings a 100 Ohm resistor has to be put in the T – room socket and by pressing „F2“ the corresponding point will be confirmed

Important note: You may only modify those settings and configurations if you are fully aware of the characteristics of the according parameters. In case of questions contact the rbr service!

7. Programming

If the device has a total crash then you must make at first the basic software with the cyclone pro. The next step is the normal software update 7.1with the PC. � Caution: Please hold ON/OFF button during the update with cyclone pro !

7.1 Software • Confirm the point „Software - Update“ in the instrument

• Connect instrument to PC via USB cable

• Confirm „Yes“ with F1

• Start PC software EN2Setup

• At transfer confirm the selection „Software update“ or „Software update with default

initialisation“

� Software update: the firmware will be updated

� Software update with default initialisation: Here it can be selected which components

shall be transferred apart from the pure software (fuel types, Print, Parameters or

Procedures).

• Select file and open the file

• Start with OK

� The desired procedures of the customer can and the desired parameters

of the customer can be stored beforehand in a new .com file . The parameters can

also be stored in the service menu afterwards. (see point 5.6 „Check set-up

settings“).

7.2 Printout • Connect instrument to PC via USB cable

• Switch on instrument (Don’t press any button unless you got an error message)

• Start PC software EN2Setup and click the point „Customer Data“ in the sub-menu Edit

• Select file

• Fill up text fields as desired

• Hereby the serial number can be changed „Overwrite serial number“ (Need expert

modus)

• start with „Transfer to EN2“

7.3 Fueltypes • Connect instrument to PC via USB cable

• Switch on instrument (Don’t press any button unless you got an error message)

• Start PC software EN2Setup and click the point „Fueltypes“ in the sub-menu Edit

• Select file

• Click „Write to Transfer L1 / L2 / L3“ to start the programming procedure


7.4 Activation of sensors

• The instrument automatically identifiers and activates NO sensors

• All other sensors must be activated

• Enter in the service menu and select „Setup”

• confirm the point „with 4.th sensor“

• select the sensor „1=NO2 ; 2=SO2 ; 3=CO%“

• After Software Version 1.7 :

• There is no longer a selection in the service menu for “4th sensor”

• You activate the sensor in the internal service menu with numbers, for example:

NO2 = 4, SO2 = 8, CO% = 16, when you have NO2 + SO2 it´s 12 to put in the box.

9.3 Charging Information:

Information for charging board V3 and V4: External LED: LED green - battery is fully charged LED red - battery is charging or power is on Flashing red and green - Error loading / battery fault Internal LED on board: Every 4 seconds is displayed flashing on the frequency of the flashing between two intervals, the status of the software are recognized: 1 time = start charging with current and voltage regulation only when the battery is flat. 2 times = constant current charging 1 A 3 times a constant = 7.2 V current charging. 4 times = battery full. From below the charging cycle to 6.35 V, or when the Device is performed maintenance charge (= 6.5 volts) Constant blinking = battery failure, no current flow.

9.4 Change to new battery type: - Software version V1.8 from 07/2012 or later.

- Tick the box “LiFePo4 accu” in the setup

- Change the accu and connector.

- Reduce the bolts in the accu case.

- Use cellular rubber to fix the accu in the case.

Battery Change -open battery box (operate unlocking) -take out used batteries -put in new batteries (respect polarity) -close battery box Important: Always dispose of used batteries and accumulators in official recycling containers only (e.g. in battery shops). Model with integrated air temperature sensor If there is no air temperature sensor connected at the ecom-EN2, then the air temperature sensor of the ecom-R supplies the measured values.

In operation, press the red button and hold it. The device turns off but hold the button. 5 seconds later you get the message "Unpair".

Now release the button. If the pairing is canceled you get the message "Unpair: OK".

A communication error between the radio module and microchip with "Unpair: Error" is acknowledged.

The next time you restart the device connects automatically (Note: Only turn on a device).

Internel setup:

Push the button (1) and hold them and swipe with a magnet on the right side (2).

Each of the four keys activates a menu item.

• Setup parameters (low NOx, TG comma, Int. temp., O2 x.xx%). • With Unpair BT cancels the pairing between Ecom R and ecom-unit. • BT <-> Serial is to connect with a J2KN with a cable (terminal application) • Exit leaves the ecom-R to return to measurement mode


Software update

To make software updates you need a cyclone Pro and an image file. Remove the board of the ecom-R from the case. For this unscrew the two case sides. Then pull out the the board and the front panel together. Cyclone Pro: Check that the jumpers on the Cyclone Pro are plugged as shown.

Then plug the connector as shown.

The Cyclone Pro connecting with the MicroStac plug on the board, select the SAP file and start the program. The power supply is provided by CyclonePro.

The update is finished. Assemble the equipment. Unlink it. And reboot.

Updates The supplier of the Bluetooth module changed the internal Bluetooth protocol in a way that a software update to version 1.9 was necessary.

When a new Bluetooth module was used in an ecom-R, a connection between the ecom-R and the measuring instrument could not established. Version 1.9 solves this problem.

Due to the new Bluetooth module a new approach is necessary when connecting the ecom-R with the measuring instrument:

1. Disengage the ecom-R from the measuring instrument.


2. Switch on the ecom-R. If the ecom-R connects to the measuring instrument, go to point 6.

3. Switch off ecom-R.

4. Switch on ecom-R again.

5. The ecom-R connects to the measuring instrument.

6. The ecom-R is ready to use.

3) Plug in the Confection. Fit board and fasten with 2 screws.

4) Put away the protection of the glue part. Install the antenna with the nut.

15. Prepare climate chamber

Use the Aux Connector on the front of the unit to a RS 232 connection.

Switch on the unit and start the software with the choice “EN”.

You don’t necessarily need T-room or T-gas. If it does not work you should be work with a crossing wiring.
