CNC Software, Inc. is proud to introduce X5 MU1 Mastercam® for SolidWorks®, which
combines the world’s leading modeling software with the world’s most widely-used
CAM software*. Now you can program parts directly in SolidWorks, using toolpaths and
machining strategies preferred the most by shops around the world.
The Core of Your Machining Needs
Mastercam for SolidWorks includes a suite of
the most sought-after cutting strategies, in-
cluding High Speed Machining (HSM) tool-
paths. In addition, Mastercam for SolidWorks
delivers a powerful set of
automated toolpaths that get parts off the ma-
chine faster, with little or no handwork.

Island Facing Toolpath Island Facing in 2D HST Toolpaths
Mastercam's standard 2D pocket island facing
functionality is now included in the
following 2D high speed toolpaths:
Rest Mill and Dynamic Rest Mill
Area Mill and Dynamic Area Mill
Core Mill and Dynamic Core Mill
When you select Use island depths on the Depth
Cuts parameter page, Mastercam passes the tool over the island until it reaches the depth
of the island. It then goes around the island, until it reaches the final depth.
What’s New In Mastercam MU1
You can also turn on Island facing independent of Depth cut settings. When activated,
Mastercam faces the top of all islands selected for the toolpath at their defined depth.
Facing quickly cleans the stock from the top of the islands, qualifies them, and creates
an even surface for future operations. After each depth cut is made, the islands between
the last depth cut and the current depth cut are faced. Mastercam orders the islands
from lowest to highest to ensure the most efficient material removal.

Mill Enhancements
New 2D HST Toolpaths
The original Dynamic Mill toolpath is now split into two application-
specific toolpaths: Dynamic Area Mill and Dynamic Core Mill. Master-
cam X5 also adds two new dynamic milling toolpaths to the 2D high
speed toolpath group: Dynamic Rest Mill and Dynamic Contour. To access the
dynamic milling toolpaths, choose Toolpaths, 2D High Speed from the
Mastercam menu. After selecting the entities to machine, choose one of the dynamic
milling toolpaths from the Toolpath Type list.
Dynamic Rest Mill
The new Dynamic Rest Mill
toolpath behaves in a man-
ner similar to the current 2D
high speed rest mill tool-
path, only it uses dynamic
milling motion instead of
core mill or area mill mo-
tion for the rest operations.
The following picture high-
lights the dynamic motion
used to clean up the addi-
tional material in the
corners of the part.
In addition, the existing Rest Mill and the new
Dynamic Rest Mill toolpaths include a new
Rest Material page, expanding your ability to
specify the targeted rest material.

New Feature Seminar—Automatic Toolpathing
Coming Soon—Automatic Toolpathing - Used for Mill And Router
Mastercam includes an Automatic Toolpathing option which is typically used for
Mastercam Router and links you to a variety of top design software. ATP can
read in entire projects and have them automatically pro-
grammed using presets that you choose.
This one feature alone can save you a dramatic amount of
time. You can design an entire
project, decide how you want
it cut, and with a few simple
clicks have fully programmed
parts. Dates and times will be
published soon.

Cimco DNCMax V6 now supports
Multiple send/restart functions. Multiple send/restart functions give the
operator the ability to send from any
point in a file, specified by line num-
ber, block number or tool change - this function is per-
fect for when drip feeding and a tool breaks..
Right Click your mouse on any machine, select >>

Powerful CAD/CAM-Based Reverse Engineering Reverse is a complete Reverse Engineering (RE) solution offering many robust, powerful
and innovative tools to create CAD models from measured parts. Reverse provides the
tools necessary for a complete scan-to-part workflow. Its single and multi-patch surface
routines provide an ideal solution for simple surfacing tasks. Use Reverse Auto Surface
for rapid surfacing of complex, intricately shaped parts. For maximum flexibility, use
mixed-modeling to blend STL meshes, surfaces, solids and geometric features in a single
design.
Smooth, Accurate Surfaces
From Dense or Sparse Data Sets With Reverse, engineers can quickly create surfaces
from sparse data sets. You can also manage reverse-design
clouds with millions of points into a mesh or surface model
that can be used directly for manufacturing, inspection or
tool building. Verisurf Reverse offers today’s most advanced
and powerful CAD/CAM software tools for processing 3D
scan data into usable manufacturing models. It brings state-
of-the-art technology to the RE process by utilizing direct
measurements of a physical part or artifact to produce an ac-
curate, replica 3D CAD model. Using data from any 3D
measuring device – including high density scanners – Re-
verse creates meshes, surfaces, solids and prismatic features
from measurements of physical parts to create precise CAD
models.
Reverse is powered by Verisurf X, the leading Model-
Based Metrology Software Verisurf Software has set the
standard for model-based inspec-
tion, reverse engineering and
tool building in aerospace, auto-
motive and a broad spectrum of
other industries. As the common
software platform for all type of measuring devices – includ-
ing stationary CMMs, portable CMM arms, laser trackers
and scanners, and many other types of existing and emerging
technologies. Verisurf has streamlined the manufacturing
process with field-proven solutions that deliver significant
improvements in productivity and cost effectiveness.
