Serving The LordCol. 3:23-24

Purpose: To remind us that we all are to

serve the Lord.

Introduction

• Today we add 10 men as deacons. They have already been serving the Lord in many ways, but now will serve in more specific, structured ways.

• Some mistakenly think that only others serve the Lord.

• But we all are to serve the Lord. Col. 3:23-24.

We choose to serve

• Rom. 6:16-18. We all will serve someone, but we have the choice of whom to serve.

• Josh. 24:14-15. Sometimes the choice is obvious, yet some struggle with it.

• We have chosen to be Christians and to serve Christ.

• Sometimes we ask to serve and sometimes we are asked to serve.

Help us serve better in worship• Today we want the men to update their

preferences on serving in worship.• Even if you are no

longer able to serve or wish not to, please fill in your name.

• Check the appropriate boxes and pass to the aisles. They will be taken up in a few minutes.

We love to serve

• Psalm 100. Serve the Lord with gladness.• Find joy in serving others.• Encourage others to serve.• Thank those who already serve.• Make serving the Lord a joyful expectation for

everyone.

What happens when we serve?

• 1 Pet. 4:11. God is glorified.• 1 Tim. 3:13. Deacons find good standing and

great boldness in the faith.• Matt. 25:34-36. Others are benefitted.

Conclusion

• Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. Mark 10:45.

• God has served us with blessings, forgiveness and promise of heaven.

• Now is the time for us to serve the Lord.
