Homework LabThis program offers Urbana Middle School students a safe educational environment after school Monday-Thursday on normal school days. Tutors from the University of Illinois may be available to work one-on-one with students.

Participation is not required for all four days

After School: 3:45-4:40pm (Monday-Thursday)

Registration is required for after school Homework Lab! Limited space!

We encourage Urbana Middle School students to sign up for a homework lab. Get your homework done before going home!

Morning Jump StartThis program before school helps students organize and prepare for the coming day. Students will be encouraged to clean out their binders, finish their homework, check their assignment notebooks and prepare for the day ahead. Jump Start teachers will give students a registration form. Students should ask a dean at their morning entrance for a pass. Go directly to the SPLASH room 1350.

Wednesday Early Out ActivitiesNeed a place to hang out on Early Out Wednesdays? SPLASH will provide a safe, fun, and supervised activity for students each Wednesday from 2:50-3:45pm. Please choose an activity from the selection below. No fees are charged for this activity.

MoviesA selection of age-appropriate movies (PG & PG13) will be shown. Table space is available for students to do homework while watching the movie.

Game RoomStudents can learn new board games or have fun playing familiar ones. Ping Pong tables, air hockey, Foosball, and playing cards available too!

Open GymStudents will play for fun or divide into teams on the decks.

Fall by the Fireside (2 Hrs)Spend time this fall outside by a cozy fire at the Anita Purves Nature Center! In this SPLASH class, students will have the opportunity to learn and try various fire-starting methods. Students will learn to prepare, construct, and maintain campfires during each class. After learning how to safely manage fires, students will make themselves unique campfire snacks!

Tiger Locker Room (2 Hrs)PROJECT ATHLETES is an exciting athletic training and mentoring program for students. This program provides fun and games while improving speed, agility, and conditioning training from certified personal trainers. It will help athletes improve their speed and athleticism. PROJECT ATHLETES also provides students who may not be involved in a sport an opportunity to be part of a team atmosphere and get active while having fun. Attendance Policy:I agree to attend all SPLASH classes that I have registered for.My parent or guardian may excuse me from SPLASH by a phone call or written permission to Ms. Cearlock.I understand that failure to consistently attend SPLASH may result in my being dropped from the program.SPLASH students are expected to go directly to SPLASH classes after the dismissal bell rings. Students who choose to go outside before going to class will not be allowed to reenter the building and will not be allowed to attend SPLASH that day.In accordance with non attendance in after school activities, students who are assigned to In-School Suspension for the half or entire day will not be allowed to attend SPLASH for that day.

Behavior Policy:I will maintain appropriate behavior in accordance with the Student Expectations, which are outlined in the UMSStudent handbook. I understand that my parents/guardians will be notified if I engage in inappropriate behavior. If I am referred to the SPLASH Coordinator for my behavior, I understand that a parent conference may be scheduled. I understand that a second referral to the SPLASH Coordinator may result in my being removed from the program. I understand that I may be removed from the program if I engage in behavior that threatens the physical or emotional safety of others or myself. I understand that students who roam the hallways may be asked to leave the after-school program.

All classes may walk or travel by bus off school grounds to another location. I give permission for

to attend this off campus activity.
