TerraSAR-X

• GFOI R&D data request to acquire and use TerraSAR-X data accepted at any time. Agreement with commercial partner on conditions in place

– All acquisition modes possible, according to user request– Background Mission for GFOI R&D Sites would be implemented– data volumes/scenes limited– Data sharing among specified user group – New proposal would be required from GFOI R&D lead or individual research groups, in

consultation with DLR SDCG Rep– COFUR costs will be waived

• Coordinated announcement of opportunity (AO) for R&D on GFOI key science questions with CEOS partners?

TerraSAR-X Archive

• An unlimited AO on TerraSAR-X archive data (free of charge) has been launched in December 2014

• Archive status for GFOI sites checked: there is data for many GFOI study sites. Tables are available.

– E.g. Col-3: 26 scenes (Stripmap or Scansar, single or dual pol) from 2007-2015

DEM products• AO for TanDEM-X “Intermediate DEM” data 2014 (closed 12 March, 2014)

– for selected regions of the globe and solely based on the first global coverage of the mission– a first impression and preview for the DEM products to come.

• Final DEM data for R&D will be made available in the first half of 2015 (current planning) via special AO

– Limits on data volumes will apply

Other Opportunities

• Ongoing DLR research projects with focus on GFOI R&D priorities (sensor interoperability, forest degradation, biomass estimation)

– Integration of sites and teams into GFOI R&D?

• DLR plans specific AO in 2015 addressing research agendas of global initiatives,

– including GFOI R&D, but also Agriculture, Water, Biodiversity, Disasters/Risks, Climate etc.

– ~ 5 projects to start late 2015 or 2016– Will fund German researchers and companies, but collaboration with international

partners sought

• SDCG-8 meeting in Germany in September will allow comprehensive exchange with stakeholders in Germany (DLR, Universities, service and data providers)

• TSX and TDX data access for GFOI R&D through DLR; for operational purposes through Airbus DS (evaluation licenses possible)

• Request for TSX data (new acquisitions and archived data on GFOI Study sites) possible. DLR ready to support formal process.

• DLR open to explore possibility of joint GFOI R&D AO with CEOS partners

• Data AO for TDX final DEM (R&D purposes, limitations) coming soon• Latest data AO for TDX Science Phase closed, but proposals still possible for

Oct-Dec 2015 phase

• DLR plans AO for funding German researchers for global initiatives, including GFOI. Collaboration with international partners would be integrated
