Session 24UE MUSCLE INNERVATIONS
Know the peripheral nerve innervations of the shoulder and arm muscles.
Apply knowledge of the brachial plexus to analyze case studies.
OBJECTIVES
BRACHIAL PLEXUS
In your small lecture team:Start with a drawing of the brachial plexus
Add at each terminal branch, the muscles innervated by that nerve
Analyze the following case studies:What muscles will be affected if C6 nerve root is damaged?
What part of the brachial plexus is likely affected if the triceps is affected, and the deltoid is not?
Have each member of your group come up with 1 case study (do not share case study with other groups!) Write down the answer.
ACTIVITY PART I
Join up with another groupHave each person present their case study
The other team must try to answer
If they get it right, they win a point
Take turns between groups
