    What is Fillet?

It connects two objects with an arc that istangent to the objects & has specifiedradius.

Fillet automatically adds an arc betweentwo lines or curves, or any combination andtrims or extends them as necessary.

    FILLET

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    3/15

    Where Fillet is used?

When we need smooth edges insteadof sharp edges.

Sometimes used for connectingobjects with arcs of specific radius.

    Fillet of Lines

    Fillet of CirclesFillet of Arcs

    Fillet without trim

Fillet of PolylineFillet can be used as TRIM or

    EXTEND command.

-set the radius to 0-select the two non-intersecting & non-parallel lines to EXTEND them

-select the two intersecting lines toTRIM them

    oHow Fillet is used?

    CHAMFER

    What is Chamfer?

It is used to connect two objects tomeet in a flattened or beveled corner.

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    6/15

    Where Chamfer is used?

When we need to cut edges with

    specific distance or angle.

    In 3D solids

    7/15

    How to use Chamfer?

Chamfer does not accept arcsegments but only lines.

It requires two non- parallel lines.

Like Fillet command, Chamfer canalso be used as Extend and Trimcommand by setting distances to 0.

    SCALE

Whatis Scale? It is used to enlarge or compress the objects

    equally in x, y & z directions.

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    9/15

    WhereScale?

Objects of different size & dimensions are

used in drawings. So we may need same object but with

    different size.

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    10/15

    How Scale is used?

    By giving Scale factor

    By giving Reference

Copy sub-option helps us to keep the

    source object also.

    11/15

    STRETCH

    What is Stretch?

It is used to expand or compressobject in one specific direction.

    One side will be fixed.

    Where Stretch is used?

To modify object in one directionwithout disturbing its location

    o How Scale is used?

Selection of objects also matters instretching the object or moving it.

    12/15

    OFFSET

    What is Offset?

Offset creates objects at specifieddistance parallel or concentric with aselected object.

    o Where Offset is used?

When we need a copy of object inparallel for lines,.

    o How Offset is used?

    By giving distance or through

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    13/15

    BREAK

    What is Break?

It is to remove only a part of object.

    Where is Break used?

When we need to erase not the wholeobject but a part of it.

    How Break is used?

    By specifying points.

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    14/15

    TRIM

    What is Trim?

It is to remove the part of an objectusing cutting edges defined by otherobjects.

    Where Trim is used?

    To erase unwanted part.

    How Trim is used?

By using options like fence, edge &crossing

  • 8/4/2019 Session 4ac

    15/15

    What is Extend?

It elongates an object to a boundary.

    Where it is used?

We need to elongate an object in one

    direction.

    How?

    By defining boundary

By using edge, fence or crossing suboptions.
