Ukulele and You This session will explore the benefits of ukulele in the general music curriculum with hands-‐on demonstration of the instrument’s use and playability. The ukulele is a great instrument for all ages. If you'd like your student to get to know music and have a lot of fun, but don’t have the budget or room, consider ukulele in your classroom. Young children can learn to hold and strum the instrument, and with minimal instruction, any student can play simple songs and demonstrate a working knowledge of music theory and harmony. Benefits of a group ukulele class: • Portable • Inexpensive • Good for all ages • Easy to play • Easily stored in a small amount of space • Can play any type of music from anywhere in the world • Sounds good • It is a solo instrument • It is an ensemble instrument • Ideal tool for developing the ear • Excellent way to learn harmony and theory • You can sing and strum at the same time • Great cross-‐curricular tool And of course...it's fun! No matter how old you are, what musical talent you think you may or may not have, or even if you aren’t exactly sure what a ukulele is – this could be just the session for you. Why the ukulele, you ask? Other than its emergence as the “it” instrument of today’s popular music, educators are quickly realizing the ukulele’s capability to teach music basics to beginning students and advanced concepts to older students. It is fun, easy to play, easy to transport and store, and will open a world of musical opportunities for your students. Remember “Uke” can do it!

I’m Yours
Well you done done me and you bet I felt it I tried to be chill but you're so hot I melted I fell right through the cracks And now I'm trying to get back Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my best-est And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention I reckon it's again my turn, To win some or learn some
But I won't hesitate no more, no more It cannot wait, I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me Open up your plans and damn you're free Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing We are just one big family And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved
So I won't hesitate no more, no more It cannot wait I'm sure There's no need to complicate Our time is short This is our fate, I'm yours
I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer But my breath fogged up the glass And so I drew a new face and I laughed I guess what I been saying is there ain't no better reason To rid yourself of vanity and just go with
the seasons It's what we aim to do Our name is our virtue
But I won't hesitate no more, no more It cannot wait I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me Open up your plans and damn you're free Look into your heart and you'll find the sky is yours So please don't please don't please don't There's no need to complicate 'Cause our time is short This, oh this, this is our fate, I'm yours
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue And the dreams that you dare to dream, Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, High above the chimney tops, That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I?
