First review report
(Submitted by Rajaram M, Roll No: 1211MBA0340 Reg No: 68212100084)
1 NEED FOR THE STUDY
Leadership style concepts are valuable in identifying strengths and weaknesses of
current and future leaders, and leadership style inventories and assessments are
available. They can also be used to identify what kind of leader is needed for a
particular organization at a particular time and assist in choosing someone who has
the desired leadership approach. Finally, they can be useful in increasing a leader's
self-awareness of his or her own leadership preferences and approaches for the
purpose of self-development and organization development as well.
2 REVIEW OF LITERATURE
"Leadership is a development of a clear and complete system of expectations in order
to identify evoke and use the strengths of all resources in the organization the most
important of which is people.”
- Batten, J.D. ‘Tough-minded Leadership’ New York: AMACOM (1989 p. 35)
“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” - Warren Bennis
“Leadership is less about your needs, and more about the needs of the people and
the organization you are leading. Leadership styles are not something to be tried on
like so many suits, to see which fits. Rather, they should be adapted to the particular
demands of the situation, the particular requirements of the people involved and the
particular challenges facing the organization” - Daniel Goleman ‘Primal Leadership’
“Leadership is the process of influencing the activities of an individual or a group
towards the achievement of a goal in a given situation. Leadership manifests ability,
creativity, innovation and initiative, and imbibes confidence, cooperation, and
willingness of people to work and build employees” - morale.
Leadership involves building an organization that can work to achieve the goal and
establish measures that guarantee that the organization is moving in the right
direction. The qualities that are required to accomplish' this task are not essentially
technical or product - knowledge
