Thursday Tour Thursday, July 20

8:30 am to 4:00 pm

On Thursday before the convention begins, we will have our annual adventure tour of the area. A great day of Columbus sight-seeing has been planned to entertain you. We will meet in the hotel lobby and depart on a charter bus at 8:30 am. Our first stop will be the Ohio History Center which offers multiple exhibits of the culture, flora and fauna, and history of this central region of the United States. Of particular interest will be the 1950’s display which illuminates a time in history most of us remember well. In addition, displays guide understanding of the complex culture of the American Indian prior to European arrival. A new exhibit will detail American experience during World War I. Everyone will enjoy the 1890’s Village with its costumed interpreters. For lunch, we will be treated to authentic German cuisine at Juergen’s Bakery and Restaurant in Columbus’ quaint, historic German Village. Owner Rosemarie is planning a bountiful buffet of German specialties including bratwurst, schnitzel and goulash with sides, fresh baked breads and pastries and apple crumb cake. As a sweet ending to the day, we will be treated to a tour of the Anthony-Thomas Chocolate Factory, home of the famous chocolate Buckeye. We will watch from overhead galleries as the factory staff process each day 30,000 pounds of chocolate into delightful treats. The tour ends in the gift shop where you will have the opportunity to indulge your chocolate fantasies. They even have a section of sugar-free chocolates! The bus will return to our hotel before 4:00 pm. The fee for the entire day is $55 which includes entrance fees, bus, lunch and all taxes and gratuities. Please join us for a fun-filled adventure as we “Set Sail for Columbus.” Location: Meet in the hotel lobby. Hosted by: John & Laurel Provine

Small Bathware Treasures in Flow Blue and Mulberry

Friday, July 21 8:00 am to 9:00 am

Keeping clean in Victorian days was a challenge. Three small china pieces, toothbrush holders, soap dishes, and sponge dishes, helped to wash daily dirt away. Please indicate on your registration form your willingness to bring examples from your collection to display as this seminar will focus on these three bathware pieces. Discussion about Victorian hygiene in different social classes will underline the usefulness of these treasured items. Location: Ballroom 3 Presented by: Kim Boyer and Helen Swan

She will examine patterns and styles of each of these companies, comparing and contrasting. Rare & Unusual Flow Blue & Mulberry Saturday, July 22

8:30 am to 10:00 am

By popular demand, the “usual” Rare and Unusual seminar returns. Look through your collection, pick out one, two, three, or more special pieces and bring them to the convention to share with fellow attendees. Simply check the Rare and Unusual line on the registration form, and we will be delighted to include you in the seminar. It’s a great way to not only show off your “finds” but also let other members know what you collect and what you are seeking. Your items will be projected on a screen while you describe the rare attributes and/or the unusual story of finding them. Too shy to get up in front of the group and speak? No problem. Just bring your items and we will be happy to describe them for you. Please send a description of the item you plan to bring to this seminar to Warren Macy no later than June 23, 2017, at [email protected] or notify Warren at 765-653-9341.
