Dear Colleagues, Members, and Participants,

My name is Jae-Moon Bae, the chairman of Board of Directors of KGCA.

First of all, I would like to say ‘How are you?’

I am happy to meet all of you, especially in KINGCA week 2020.

As a chairman of Board of Directors of KGCA, I am delighted to welcome you to the Korea International Gastric Cancer (KINGCA) Week 2020.

It was painful to postpone April’s KINGCA week 2020 to August due to the unexpected outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic. However it was done in our � rst and foremost consideration of the safety and health of participants. I have realized that a common daily life is very important and precious, which its value has been ignored sometimes.I sincerely welcome all of you to KINGCA 2020 week, and would like to deliver a deep sense of gratitude for your patience in longer waiting and participating of KINGCA 2020.

KINGCA Week has been held every year since 2014 and it is Korea’s only international conference on gastric cancer. Every year coming from all part of the globe, 30 countries of doctors and researchers gather to present their research results, establish productive new academic research, and expand the scope of gastric cancer study.

The theme of KINGCA 2020 is ‘Back to the basic’. I cho se this slogan to keep and maintain the initial purpose and mission of the Korean Gastric Cancer Association. In KINGCA 2020, we are focused on taking a multidisciplinary approach to manage gastric cancer patients. We will prefer a discussion to a simple presentation.

I feel sorry that many foreign speakers cannot attend this congress in person now, but you will be able to see their presentations through � les.

I would like to express my gratitude to all who are attending this congress in person. Thank you for your attendance.

This congress would not be opened without sacrifice and contribution of our staffs and sponsors. Especially, I would like to thank Prof. Ryu who is the director of scientific program committee, and Prof. Choi who is the secretary general of KINGCA 2020.
