Settlement Changes By:Brenda HAN

I am trying to find changes of three different cities

•Beijing•Seoul•London

I am trying to find in 1900,1950 and 2000

I will write about.....

• Three different type of settlement patterns (linear,nucleated and dispersed settlement)

• Four functions(market,industrial,port and resort town)

Beijing

1900 Beijing

By looking at these pictures in 1900, it was market town

and I can guess that it was nu-cleated settlement .

It have lots of short building and people are

close together.

1950 Beijing

It started to have cars from horse but, they also used it. I think it was nucleated settlement with market town and starting to have industrial town(I knew this from looking

at new car).

People used horse and they

started to use cars by then. It also have taller

building than 1900 in Beijing.

2000 BeijingIt started to have

much more resorts town and

industrial town.It is having more information

Mostly all of the four town is there.

It start to have more factories that make

modern things.

Seoul

1900 SeoulThere was no factories but there were lots of market

towns and it was nucleated settlement. There are horses instead of car.

People used horses to go far places

and they used woods to make fire. It have

houses that is short or low and easy to make.

1950 SeoulIt started to

have factoriesthat means,

industrial town and market town

is always there. It is dispersed

settlement because people have

to be safe fromthe war with Japan.(I think....)

The place have taller buildings

and started to have

factories(the car show that).

2000 Seoul

It is industrial town for sure and nucleated

settlement and linear settlement mixed.

It have tall buildings like now and less trees. Reason why they have less trees are,it started to have more

buildings.

London

1900 London

I think London is special that I found port town picture and they had little of industrial town. I think it was

nucleated settlement.

It have short and less buildings

and houses. It also have more trees than 1950

and 2000.

1950 LondonI really think

London is special, they had

double buses started on 1950. It is

market town and

industrial town.

It have some factories to make

buses or other things. It have more

taller buildings around.

2000 London

The pictures help us know it is all of the four towns and it is nucleated settlement.

It have high buildings and houses and

more beautiful place. It also

started to have much more factories.
