#seu12 - 506 creating nailboard drawings for wire harnesses - ronnie conerly
DESCRIPTION
This session will present Solid Edge’s 3D Electrical Wiring harness functionality in assembly and new ST5 functionality which allows for documenting the manufacturing process of the harness with nailboards. Key functionality in creating nailboard drawing views along with connector drawing views and tables and conductor tables will be presented. In addition, the ability to edit the 2D flattened representation of the harness so that it will fit on the nailboard will be presented. This session is geared towards users with wiring harnesses in their designs and need an understanding of how to create a wire harness and then document the manufacturing process in Draft.TRANSCRIPT

Assembly 3D Wire Harness
• Harness environment in Assembly used to design a 3d wire harness
• A wire harness consists of conductors:
• Wires
• Cables
• Bundles
• All conductors are driven by 3d Paths
• Cables contain 1 or more wires
• Bundles can contain wires, cables, or “sub-bundles”

Harness Wizard – Step 1
Harness Wizard can be used to import conductors from 3rd party Electronic
software packages
• CIM Team – E3 Series
• ECT – Promise-e
• VeSys Electrical
• Zuken
• Browse for formatted text files

Nailboard Drawing Views
New command to flatten the 3d Harness onto 2D
nailboard
Geometry starts out as linear segments
representing branches of the harness
Line lengths match that of harness
Line colors match that of harness
Line thickness matches outside diameter of harness
Goal is to edit the geometry to fit inside the
nailboard
Rotate segments
Insert Bends
Sync Edits

Nailboards – Insert Bend
New Insert Bend Command
Bends flattened geometry to fit in nailboard view
Maintains overall length of branch
Edits to Radius/Sweep Angle
Option to Flip bend direction
