Gratitude! We are so blessed here at St. Clare Parish to have such faith-filled, talented staff members. Without them I would not be able to focus on my primary duties of preaching, ministering the sacraments of God’s Grace, and the pastoral care of our parishioners. Our staff member, Ed Seipp, has served faithfully as our part-time business manager for the past four years and is now retiring. Before 2016, he also served as CPA financial advisor to our parish for nine years. His invaluable knowledge of finances has been a tremendous help to me and our finance council, especially through the financial planning of our present building project. Ed has also been overseeing the finances of our school for many years. Since most of his work is behind-the-scenes and you might not know him, he has been a true blessing to us! Ed is moving on to retirement from our parish, although he will continue managing the school finances for us. I am pleased to announce that our new part-time business manager is Mr. Jim Edwards. I have asked Jim to write an introduction of himself for next week’s bulletin. He and his wife Laurie are members of St. Clare Parish and he brings his own set of skills and faith. Ed is working with Jim for these first couple months for training and ‘learning the ropes’ between the financial relationship between the parish, school, and diocese. Thank you Ed and Jim! God’s Peace, Fr. Jim Deiters

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time The Kingdom of Heaven Living in the kingdom of Heaven can be hard to fathom at times. It is a treasure, it is surprising, it is full of good and bad alike. The Letter to the Romans reminds us that for those who love God, all things work for good. It may not happen tomorrow, or next week, but it will happen. All will be well. +While living in God’s kingdom now, what treasures do I seek? +How will I share what I find?

Generosity and Gratitude! I am so grateful to all of you who contributed toward our parish gifts to Father Nick Fleming and Father Joel Seipp. I am pleased to announce that we collected $5,600.00 that we are splitting evenly for each of them. What a wonderful sign of our generous parishioners and a shared gratitude for their priesthood vocations!

VBS thank you! Thanks to our wonderful volunteers for their efforts to make our first-ever Virtual VBS so wonderful. We had 82 students register for this fun way to learn about Jesus this summer.

Thanks to the section leaders who came up with the ideas and materials for the “extras” we provided for our students: Kelly Fleming - games Kelly Monroe and Andrea Harris – crafts Theresa Voss – snacks Thanks to Aidan, Andy, Marshall, Ryan, Kylie, Kelly, Evan and Abi for starring in the videos and Aidan and Will for leading the Zoom opening.

Other volunteers helped with putting the to-go bags togeth-er, leading the Zoom breakout rooms and handing out bags and popsicles. We hope to see everyone next year in person at VBS!

VBS donation drive for Sister Thea Bowman school

Aug. 1-2 at Scout trailer on parking lot

Our VBS tradition is to collect school supplies for Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School, as our students put into action what they learned at VBS. All VBS participants, their friends and parishioners are invited to donate supplies for the school again this year, but with some different items on the list:

• Hand sanitizer - any size • Kleenex - regular size and individual packets • Contact-less infrared forehead thermometers • Paper towels • Screen wipes or spray for electronic equipment • Disposable gloves

Drop in the Scout trailer in the northeast corner of the east parking lot (by the choir room entrance) after Mass on the weekend of Aug. 1-2 or at the parish office July 27-31. Your donation is important to this school, which has a lim-ited budget and serves low-income children.
